Why do people on the internet seem to hate the Xbox 360 controller so much, I find it fits naturally to my hand compared to say the PS one, which is fine, though little too small, and I dont like how the R2/L2 buttons press for the PS3 one.

I've honestly heard more people say they prefer the 360 controller. Personally, I like the L/R buttons much more in 360 than PS. Otherwise, I prefer PS out of nostalgia?

I like the Xbox controller over the PS one. It feels more natural. My only problem is that new 360 controller seems like a imposer PS one with the bumper buttons (Right and Left button) reminding me of the shoulder buttons of a PS. Although, I guess they're easier to use then the black and white buttons. Does anyone else think that?

*edit* I love the Wii's numchucks ^^

think that the bumpers are much better then the black and white buttons?

yes, I do think that.

I don't so much think they're copying PS in any bad way by having them though.

Just to add some spice into this, there are several different 360 controllers. I know of 3, well because i have 3. 1 wireless that has hard plastic, another wireless with a super cheap plastic that came bundled with some thing to make it work for the pc, and the reg. wired cont. All of these feel different to me in both weight and texture so if you here that the 360 cont. is bad just take into account they could have come in contact with a crappy version. and dont let any1 tell you diff. that d pad is bad news all around.

I actually like the original xbox controller. However, I have huge hands, so my opinion is kinda wank I suppose lol.

The 360 controller is just fine, first I've ever heard of any real hatred for it beyond personal preference. I do wish the joystick and d-pad were switched though.

The 360 controller is fab; nice and heavy; solid; feels like you're in control. My favourite since the frankly wondrous N64 controller, for sure. Whenever I pick up my PS3 controller it feels a bit flimsy, somehow weightless in comparison. Plus, let's face it, the PS3 triggers are a design of Lucifer himself.

The placement of the analogue stick on the X360 controller is ludicrous; I don't see how anyone with non-ape hands can use it.

That's ancient, it was the giant original xbox controllers they complained about.

I don't like the new x-box controllers either. They're clunkily large. Not as stupidly huge as the original, but they're still too big. Too much mass from the bottom to the top and not lengthy enough. It's still very boxish, which is a shame. Every controller ever made has been rectangular in design except for those.

They just don't feel right.

i haven't heard complaints about the 360 controller either. I like it, it is almost as good as that of the gamecube (having a different shape for each button makes up for the not quite so good right analog stick). I haven't tried the ps3 controller, i hated that of the ps2 (way too loose analog sticks). I have yet to come across a recent controller with a decent d-pad, since the snes.

I'm actually fine with the D-pad. What really kills me, literally and figuratively, is the guide button placement, I'm always hitting guide button when I hit the back button to check the scores in online games. I realize that it's probably the best place for it, but still, it bugs me.

Because the PS2 controller felt like it was made for my hands and I miss it.

Hmm... Yes, personally, I prefer the 360 controller, its bolkier, yes, and bigger... but I actually preffer that to the PS3's lightweight little controller, where the L2/R2 feel like little Marshmellows when you press then and it just overall dosen;t feel right to me... And yes, the 360's D-pad sucks, and the Original X-box controllers were too large... I think the 360 got the controller delima right...

I still think in X, triangle, circle and square.

Who doesn't?

Me.

It's actually the subject of a joke I like.

Xbox players are more intelligent than PlayStation players because the Xbox players have moved past universal geometric shapes and on to the abstract concepts of letters.

Still perfecting the delivery but you get the idea? (ps: I don't hate PS[number] or PS[number] players)

I love the 360 controller. It feels so much more natural than sticking both fingers down until it hurts and the "trigger" idea is genius.

Inportant Note: If you just want my opinion go to the bottom line, if you want teh reasons read it all ^^.

I'll take the xbox controller anyday, I like the fact that's it bigger and has more wieght on it. It feels kinda good to hold on to it then and it "places" itself good in the hands, I also liked the fact that the controller is bigger.

It's like this, When i play "lets say a racing game" I usealy only keep my fingers on the R2 and L2, And not the 1 buttons, and when using a PS3 controller this leaves 2 fingers flying in the air because they wont fit on the controller itself, And THAT is why i like the xbox360 controller more.

Also when I went to my friends house and used the ps3 controller i wasn't comfy at all with how light it was and the L/R2 triggers felt clunky, Also i prefer the 360 analog setup.

The bottom line is that i like the setup of the 360 controller and it feels more confy to use it, And seriously you could just get a 3rd party controller for the original xbox lol.

The original xbox controller was like the size of a SEGA Game Gear, if anyone remembers the size of those hand held behemoths, you should know I'm not far off.

We all know that the 360 Dpad is useless, especially for fighting games but the 360 controller does have a nice contour as opposed to the somewhat sharp edges of the PS3 controllers. I wish that the end handles for the DS3/Sixaxis were longer since I have large hands and long fingers. The 360 controller did get that right, I can't figure out what they were thinking with the bumpers though, you would think the bumpers were actually touch sensitive. (Which I could have lived with as I can handle touch sensitive interfaces very well.) I also don't get why the start and select buttons are so close to the power button on the controller. I always seem to screw up and press the power button when I want to press start or select. The 360 controller does have better trigger buttons, the DS3/Sixaxis psuedo triggers are not that bad once you get used to them though.

I am of the opinion that there needed to be a third row of shoulder buttons for both of these controllers, the triggers never seem to feel right in games that do not involve shooting or otherwise lend themselves to the variable pressure functionality inherent in the trigger designs. All of that said I still prefer the Sony controllers over the 360.

I actually prefer the 360 controller by far. I don't own any console but I still have an xbox 360 controller for my pc :) I think it's a great controller perfect for racing and fighting games etc.

The best for me is still the Dual Shock. I'm biased, though. I've only had Sony consoles.

WAAAAIIIIIT.... people talking about analouge sticks feeling "unnatural" they arre sooooo much easier to use can easily move and turn unlike those pathetic arrows, hands fit nicly round into the groves, there bigger and it feels more comfy as your hand doesnt cramp as much, the sholder buttons are easy access from tiggers. and as for people saying its chunky... i mean wtf get real no its not its bigger than the ps3 controller but not chunky its not got random bits on it its not heavy as such. this is not just peronally but it is such a better design than the ps3 altogether.... i mean arrows cmoooon there pooor... awkward turning hard to press.... rubbish.... triggers are better than R2/L2 by miillleeesss you dont have to bend your fingers as much to reach round it feel more realistc and when your not using them they make a nice finger rest to be honest.... i think this is all shown by the massive 360 sales and pathetic ps3 sales to be honest xbox has rules ever since it came out and osny will never puyll it back untill they come up with somethin great and new that people will really want..... which will be never.... coz xbox rocks.... ps3 suck my sack....

Erm, it's called "personal preference"? It's just a controller, calm down dude.

I actually like the lightness of the original PS3 controller but other than that its the 360 controller all the way followed by the Wii-mote, although it took Metroid Prime 3 for me to realise this. I've never really been able to hack a keyboard and mouse though, the keyboard just feels unnatural to me, but I agree you can't beat a mouse for twitch game play.

I'm going to dismiss this ignorance and blatant fanboyism. As it merely seems intentional to start a flame war.

Though I don't play consoles all that often, I definatly prefer the 360 controller to the PS3 one. Just feels more comfortable to me, the PS3 one feels a bit too lightweight and flimsy, and I don't have particulary large hands. The original chunky Xbox controller was terrible though.
