Ok so, I know both games have been out a long time but still. I was looking at what games my xbox live friends were playing and the first thing I noticed is that it seems all the time, most of my friends are playing either Halo3 or COD4. I have never played Call Of Duty 4 but I have only heard good things about the online multiplayer. Is COD4 really more entertaining and less buggy then Halo3?

Yes. For starters, COD4 has a much better feel. Halo always felt light and floaty (really the only way I can think to describe it) while COD feels more real and believable. Plus not as many dickwads or screaming children in COD, though they do still exist in abundance, it is still not as bad as Halo.

Plus COD is actually fun, the whole point of an online game.

That's my opinion, and on a side note, as the first person to vote, seeing COD4 with 100% votes is very nice. :D

A word of advice, the mods tend to dislike VS threads.

Halo has some pretty bland multiplayer (Shoot, run into eachother, melee). I don't like CoD4's much either, but it is better in my opinion.

Considering how this thread is already off to a whopping COD4 slant, I feel obliged to defend Halo 3. I've always enjoyed Halo 3 more for the following reasons:

1. More diverse levels.
2. More diverse weaponry.
3. Endlessly customizable gametypes and maps.
4. Incendiary grenades and flamethrower, need I say more?
5. Vehicles.
6. Not grounded by the laws of physics and reality.
7. Our airstrikes and helicopter equivelents are player controlable.
8. Multiplayer achievements.

And who says that realism = better game? The opposite has always held true for me. Its all a matter of personal opinion.

COD4 always felt more real and had better graphics, but Halo gets my vote because of one simple thing, co-op. Plus, vehicles are always nice to have online.

What is this, the IGN forums? Crap like this is why I stopped posting there, glad to see the virus has spread.

And when I say crap like this, it's not the question as it is the fact that I saw this same question 50 fucking times, replacing one or both games...

Agreed. I prefer CoD4 over Halo 3 any day. Though neither of them are really amazing.

I've always liked games that are further away from reality.
And I like the control config. of Halo 3 better than COD4.

Seriously, these always degrade into giant dick-waving contests between fanboys, and ultimately go no where. If I wanted to see fanboys wanking off about pointless and asinine things I'd go to the System Wars board on Gamespot.

I think each game has it's pros and cons. Halo is designed for more arcade, fast-paced shooter gamers that like to blow stuff up and shoot lasers. CoD4 is designed for a more realistic crowd that enjoy tactics and planning. I personally prefer CoD4 because I enjoy the realism, but I can have fun playing Halo 3 as well.

It depends on your personal opinion really.
Personally i prefer Call of Duty 4, if only for the added variation of play in the multi player, I think Halo 3 really was over-rated, its not a bad game by any means, but really I found it to be a minor improvement over the previous entries.

I'm with this guy.

I prefer COD4 mostly because the guns have a great feeling to them, but Halo 3 is definitely more skill based.

However, my real answer is C:) Quake 3-CPMA. :D

They both suck. Go play some Team Fortress 2.

Well, I would hate to choose, because they approach the FPS genre in different ways, and both equally superb. If I had to choose- and looking at your poll, I do- then it's H3, I guess.

Seriously though, I don't understand how people like CoD4 multiplayer, the spawning system is awful. Also, the airstrikes and helicopters do nothing but give people reasons to camp.
