I must say the minimum requirements seem a bit... optimistic.

Minimum System Requirements:

Windows XP/Vista
1GB System RAM (XP)/ 2GB System RAM (Vista)
2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 256MB RAM (NVIDIA 6800 or better/ATI X850 or better)

Recommended System Requirements:

Intel Core 2 Duo processor
2 GB System RAM
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series)

I can run it just fine, but I still don't think I'll purchase it until I see the public reaction.

Hmm, well I'm looking to buy a PC with similar specs to the recommended ones seeing as the POS I had before has died on me. Unfortunately I don't have the funds and won't for a while so it will probably be outdated anyway by the time I get it and Fallout 3 will be a hazy memory.

Not a million miles away from Oblivion's requirements, surprisingly.

The processor on the min. req. seems to be the "optimistic" part IMO, but there isn't a big gap between the recommended and minimum specs on this.

Also, "News Room" beat ya to it.

Maximum settings, here I come. The game looks a good deal better on the Xbox 360 than Oblivion due to some optimisations, and the framerate is much, much more solid (still drops in a few videos I've seen but nothing terrible). Assuming they've optimised the game well for the PC then Oblivion will probably be a good indicator for how Fallout 3 will perform.

Don't play dumb, we all know you're the local PC-phillie here :P

Though, I may be able to just scrap past minimum.

The biggest constraint this or any other action game will ever present is the GPU.

And that's easily and cheaply resolved unless you're running something which doesn't support PCI-Express slots.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see XP...

Effing Bethesda! Grr...

Funny that they were taking preorders on this game for months before this...

<--- Does not own a PCI express motherboard...

I have been crying about it ever since I finished building my computer 2005.

Not that it is that bad. I mean I could still run it and I do have a pci express motherboard sitting at home right now and all it needs is a video card, but since I am leaving for the Air Force soon (dec 16) I can wait to get it.
