I would say in the first one she looks like a warrior god cause of the manlyness, where as in the 2nd, she looks like she is some kind of warrior princess since the eyes are less intimidating, and the breasts of corse.

Looks like they planned it but it never came through. There's stuff there for a bunch of countries. Australia has a zero tolerance policy on all pictures, cartoon or otherwise, of sexualised depictions of persons under 16 (or those who appear under 16). Lolicon with explicit sex scenes is also illegal in the US, however "sexualised" images, such as possibly the ones you can take from this thread, would not fall under that law, I think.

I think that even the ecchi lolicon (think thats wot it is, I'm no manga/anime expert) is kinda wrong. If kids are growing up with images of lolitas in their mind, then what's gonna happen when they reach sexual maturity? And if people get over-obsessed with the "cute lil underage manga girls," then what expectation will they get for real-life sexual experience? I'm no Freud, but surely if someone spends most of their time getting wet over drawings of kids, its gonna spill over into reality which could create major real life problems.

Hmmmm.... 'Japanese men fond of tits.....' I don't know, maybe it's just that they are curious to know what it would be like to have women around that actually have, uh, breasts.

They remind me of Kramer from Sienfeld for some reason....maybe it's the face? O_o;

Personally game-wise I vote for picture nr 1. I mean in the second pic she just looks too scared and a little too young to be jumping from building to building and disarming/shooting opponents. The first one looks like she might actually have the guts to do something like that. Look-wise I vote nr2 > nr1.

Actually now you do sound a lot like a freud.

I like tits, so I like the second picture more.

Oh, those good old Japanese and their pervy ways. Aside from the obvious cosmetic differences, it seems to me like whilst the first image makes her look quite strong, the second makes her look vulnerable. This is actually naturally appealing to most men, since most would like to think (whether consciously or subconsciously) that they wear the pants and that women have the boobies.

Good old fashioned sexism shines through. Joy.

I'd rather someone jerk it to hentai lolicon (that is, sexual explict) than to real child abuse photos. One is merely a picture, the other is evidence of someone actually being sexually abused. The "snowballing" argument is a good one I admit. However the nature of manga art in itself makes it hard to outlaw things for "girls who look younger than 16" as a lot of manga art is incredibly ambiguous as to the age of some of its characters.

I'm not saying I approve of hentai lolicon, or lolicon at all for that matter, I'd just like to raise the point that it'd be difficult to find a clear cut line to say "this girl looks over 16". Some people may think so, others might not. Heck, you see that enough in todays society with the sexualisation of young girls thanks to the like of Bratz. "Zero tolerance policy" in australia is all well and good, but again it infers that "anyone who looks under the age of 16". What does that constitute as? I've seen fifteen year olds who look physically mature enough to be 20. Similarly I've seen 18 year olds who are as physically mature as a 14 year old. It's crazy hard to draw a line which everyone agrees on.

My husband lived in Japan for four months. He said Japanese men are obsessed with big tits because they never get to see them in real life. LOL

Hey Joe:
Man, those things can not be fun to deal with while running all over the place. Am I right ladies?

No, they aren't, and I'm not even that large. (TMI, I know.) I guess what really annoys me about the portrayal of women's breasts is how "anti-female" it is. Most of the girls I've known blessed (cursed?) with large breasts rarely, if ever, flaunt them. They are distracting enough in and of themselves. And they certainly wouldn't wear anything without adequate support. So this constant portrayal of large breasted women running around, fighting with dental floss and scotch tape for support is just really demeaning. It's a way of making females less threatening to men: "Sure, I can kill you, but here's a nice view so you can hold out hope I might decide to f*** you instead."

both of them are not to my tastes.
The 1st looks too "hardcore street gangster fighter eats nails and drinks turpentine" Also I'm not a fan of the extremely slanted eyes. That said, for an action game or whatever, this is obviously the best choice.
The second looks like a teenager with a babyface and boobs. Nicer hair, but unrealistic, nice face but doesn't fit the setting.

IMO mixing the two faces together 50/50 would probably be best.

That's the real probelm, isn't it? I think it depends. If a girl is over eightteen but looks younger (as, quite frankly, they often do if they're right at or just above eightteen) then it comes down to why the guy is observing her sexually. If he knows she's over eightteen and to him it's just a coincidence that she looks young, then, fine, whatever. However, if he's looking at her because she looks young, then that's wrong. Also, about young girls looking older than they are and being underage, it comes down to pay attention. If its a porn site, make sure it's one you can trust so that kind of thing doesn't happen. If it's in real life, ask how old she is. Actually know her age rather than just saying, well, she looks old enough. As for cartoons, they are deliberately ambiguous. That's the whole point: she looks young, but she could be older. Still, it's kinda off to look at a girl, real or animated because she looks young.

Females are threatening to men now? Aah, you mean virtual female characters? Ok then.

...Anyway, what I hate about the depiction of large breasts is the chorus of whining from female audience and male audience faking to be solidary with that ....cause?
And what a cause! A world in which media don't depict large breasts for their virtual character while live women rush to the clinic to get breat implants.
If I get it right, you can whine about it if they're virtual, but it's okay to get them?
I like the logic.

Nevertheless, what genders find interesting in the opposite sex is the physical and mental difference. Breasts whether you like it or not are a symbol of feminity, and are attractive to men, because they are quite different from what they have.
As such, large breats express strong feminity along with all the underlatying instinctive meanings that go with it. Large breats are appealing because they better guarantee the feeding of the infant and blah blah blah...
My point now.
Even with all the whining and pressure on males to love women with the chest of 12 year old boys, chances are, men will still prefer women with the body of a woman. Funny no?
The big problem with men, is that they have this thing in their head that makes them love women and the depictions of a women. Worst than that it even makes them have tastes for women. There is stuff they like better and stuff that doesn't attract them so much.

It so happens that they like big breasts. Find that insulting? Take a small plane to a small deserted island and cry, scream, and call it injustice, express your frustration and come back to society once your anger has relented.

Sure breasts are a detail. Sure men don't pick a woman for the size of their breast, but in my case, two equally interesting women with none versus large breats, I know what I pick.

Basically, if you find breasts a curse, get them reduced or chopped off. If you think it's a blessing, get them increased as much as you like. They're your breasts, you do what you like with them.
But at the same time, I look and I prefer what I want to. I prefer big breasts over small ones, that's my choice, that's my brain, that's my eyes, I do what I want with them, and you can scream at me all you want for liking breats, I will not change that opinion just like you won't change yours.

And mouthing off like a idiot online is for 12 year old boys. But since you are apparently a chick I guess you must just be on the rag. Plug your hole (both of them) and deal with it.

Anyway I love anime for that. All the heroes are big eyed westerers. The only chars who ever do look like real japs are creepy losers or the humourous villian.

As for chicks with large breasts wtf. They do too show them off. Every chick I know with D/DD is forever popping em out to get attention or special treatment.

not in the way you are thinking of, she means the fact that men don't like women who stand up for themselves and tend to feel their masculinity is being threatened so try to act more macho, attempt to "bring them down a peg" etc

Yep, that's what I thought. Women with decent breasts and nice, curvy, feminine bodies is about 1/3 of why I love America so much.

am I the only one who keeps expecting the second version to start throwing shiny laser beams out of her hands?

the first one looks like a real person who's running from something. the second looks like she just stepped off the set of dragonball GT.

Actually know her age rather than just saying, well, she looks old enough.

That won't stand up in court you know. "I didn't abuse a minor, Your Honour! She looked old enough!" Plus, and this may come as a surprise to some people, but people lie about their age. I know, crazy, right? And you can't check IDs because those could be fake. It's actually incredibly difficult to "know" someone's age, especially if you've only just met them. I was passing for a 17 year old when I was 14, believe it or not, and no one could argue with me beyond a "Well...you don't look 17." which isn't really an argument given the above points I made. I had an ID to prove it as well. Fake, of course, but still an ID.

All I'm saying is: Age of teens and young adults is ambiguous and it's difficult to draw a line. Gotta love human subjective opinion.

Overall I definitely prefer the first one. I think I would prefer a middle ground for the jaw though. And I like the second's hair.

All true, all true. the highlighted part is exactly what I was talking about, you can't go on whether a girl looks old enough. About your other point, I really meant (just accidentally didn't say it) actually know the girl. You're right, knowing a person's age is hard, but I don't mean walk up to some chick and say "hey, how old are you?" I mean really know her. Sorry I didn't word that right, I think I said it like I meant it this time.

Also, @ Easykill, the hair is almost identical on both. About three locks of hair are out of place on the second, that's it.

And if you look really closely, you can tell that the hair is black in the first, but in the second, it's actually a dark shade of purple.

The only game I am looking forward to more than Mirror's Edge is Bungie's adaptation of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

The snag is, the only evidence I have that they are working on this Intellectual Property is:

1. They have a poor track record of coming up with their own unique I.P.

The Halo series is a mix of the guns, drop-ships and Colonial Marines of Aliens, the invisible, tall, 'ugly' alien from Predator, Larry Niven's Ringworld, H.A.L. 9000 meets C3P0, quad-biking garb, quad-bikes, ice-hockey goalies, gorillas, muppets and zombies.

2. Their previous game Oni was basically Ghost in the Shell in all but name.

3. It was revealed during a 'making-of Halo 3' video that Bungie had a big Ghost in the Shell poster up on the side of a someone's cubicle.

Yes, I know that's not a lot to go on and certainly not enough speculation to start a rumor and there has already been a PSP game, but one can still live in hope. Please, don't deny me that.

Aside from the slight purple tint where the light hits it, it's black. Black hair does that sometimes, it's called sheen. Really shiny, pure black hair will sometimes appear to have a faint purple tint to it in glaring sunlight. Happens to crows/ravens, too. And if it really is purple and not just sheen, then don't badger me about it, it just means I'm blind.

Nah, the Halo rings are Culture Orbitals, not Ringworld. (One of the early promo images from Halo was basically the cover of Consider Phlebas with some slight recolouring).

Also, you missed the multicoloured goblins.
