What I meant is an UPDATED remake. Yea know, what they have done with FF3 and 4 on the DS? something along that line instead of a simple port of the original. Sorry for the confusion but I hope that sort of clarifies it. |

That wasn't just a port. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 573 Joined: 19 May 2008 | As far as I'm concerned, it was a port. |
Muckraker Posts: 265 Joined: 10 Jan 2008 | an interesting question, we've got a pretty good game in FFVII. Does Square spend resources to remake it or spend those resources on an entirely new game that might be good, excellent or rubbish? then comes the further question: do we keep it the same, or do we use the opportunity to potentially make it better? (if you don't think that it can be made better I've got 4 words for you: Yuffie and Cait-Sith) |

Yes to the what you said about the remake, but Kingdom Hearts was a great game, and possibly the last from Square. |

The thing with a remake of FFIX is that, well, it doesn't need one. They got FFIX right the first time. Give it a couple of bug patches (there's a bug where doing something too early renders the game unwinnable, and there's a way to make Garnet never recover her voice, so she always has random chance to not act in battles) and correct the spelling of Marilith and stick it on PSN. |

Your not the first person to think I meant this, but I wasn't actually implying that I hated Kingdom Hearts. Looking at Square's track history as of late (why make a "Tactics" rip-off for the iPod?), i have to agree that it's one of the few good games they've made in the past few years. I was referring to the union between Square and Disney that seemed just soo unholy at the time I first heard about it. ... soo unholy... |

And yet it turned out so well ;D Well, except for that crappy chore thing at the start of KH2 as Roxas. God that was annoying. |

Anyone found it weird that Sora was happier by seeing Riku other than Kairi? |

Does it stink that much?! Seriously though, that strip was so accurate i was thinking to myself "W-T-H, how...could you!?" while watching Sora act like a twat <_<. |

Awww! You beat me to it, Amnestic, I was going to say the same thing. While I'm posting, a link to the cartoon in question can be found here: |

Given how Roxas (Sora's Nobody, remember), had so much Ho Yay with Axel, the fact that Sora himself was more interested in white haired prettyboys than boobies should come as no surprise at all. |

Man, the weirdest shit will work on my work computer. Yay VG Cats! *goes to waste time* |

It kinda made sense for the first ten games (sort of) because they were all set in different universes. Then X-2 came along with all of FF7's runty children, of which newborn Crisis Core is my favourite, and "Final" became kind of moot. |
Muckraker Posts: 303 Joined: 7 Oct 2008 | I usually like remakes (unlike Yahtzee,) but FF7 does NOT need to be remade. Speaking of remakes that are awesome, however, I loved Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. |
Muckraker Posts: 325 Joined: 27 Jul 2008 | *cough* FF7 enjoyed its epitome of sales once already, it absolutely does NOT need to be another victim of the moneymilker virus. I hope a bypassing mod locks this topic because this debate is pointless. |

"This guy are sick". haha. Seriously though, I think the fact that it takes years for Square (or Square Enix Mellencamp or whatever they are called now) to make a game nowadays means that they really ought to come up with something original. Do fans of Final Fantasy really want to wait for 4 years between games just to play Final Fantasy 7 all over again, just with prettier graphics? Hey, I really liked 7. It was the first RPG I ever played till the end so it has a special place in my heart. Having said that, I'm much more interested in seeing what they can do that's new. For me, this discussion falls into the same territory as "They should make a Metal Gear movie." Why? Why can't it just be what it is? |

Press Junketeer Posts: 357 Joined: 7 Sep 2008 | I'd take FFVII and run in the other direction: A demake. Who knows? Sephiroth might actually end up being more hateable than Kefka (SACRILEGE!!! I know). Also, Amnestic's idea of an FFIX remake got me all wondering what the heck Doomsday Sword (Steiner's ultimate skill, forgot the exact name) or even Ark's summon sequence would look like using next-gen hardware. Ahhh, nostalgia. It's sweet. It's also bitter because it takes you back to the time when you were still practicing your right to avoid responsibilities =P. EDIT: "Final" Fantasy is the longest-running irony mankind has ever faced. It's been going on for 21 years already. And don't state why it got "Final" in the title, I know that story all too well. |

Paperboy Posts: 24 Joined: 4 Sep 2008 | I be fanboy. Honestly, I'd love to see it redone. The graphics were just...bad, even for the time, but the cutscenes were great (for the time...) I know a lot of people are against it, but hey. My thoughts are these: 1) It wouldn't hurt anyone who didn't want to buy it, right? 2) Beating a dead horse to death and draining every last bit of profit-blood from it's sad, tired body is a tradition in the gaming industry. So...remake it. That's what I say. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 357 Joined: 7 Sep 2008 | Forget the demake. I suddenly got reminded that this was already in existence |
Copy Clerk Posts: 51 Joined: 19 Mar 2008 | I would like to play FFVII. I never have before. And while it was released for the PC I checked it out on amazon and it is ungodly expensive for an older game (pushing $80 last I checked, I kid you not) and I don't by used products on amazon since the last incident I had. So a port to the PS2, or a cheaper PC release, or a DS port would be great. Also, I did consider pirating this game because I will shoot myself in the foot before I pay $80 dollars for it, but my dorm's internet bites. Hard. |

A demake of Final Fantasy VII? You seriously posted the exact opposite of that the thread creator was asking for... My good sir, you have won this thread. |
Beat Writer Posts: 163 Joined: 30 Apr 2008 | A friend of mine wanted to play FF7 as she hadn't before and was getting pissed that everyone was telling her how to experience it. She was ranting to me about this and I told her I'd lend her my copy and to ignore/block everyone who is trying to tell you how to play and just .. PLAY it. Experience it your own way. And it's been better for that. You have a more open mind to it if you weren't listening to everyone's feelings about it. That being said, that's how I feel about FF7. It's a good game, lots of stuff underneath it that isn't easily seen, but I'm not going to throw a fit and argue on the internets if another person doesn't like it. Just how it is. I even liked Dirge of Cerberus (But, I'll admit, I got that for eye-candy/Vincent's backstory) and not for a serious look at the compliation of FF7 whatnots. I wouldn't mind a FF7 remake ..actually I've convinced myself it's already done and just waiting for a special launch for FF7's 15th anniversary. More likely, however, they're going to continue doing new storylines and different battle systems for the PSP/PS3, or leave it alone altogether. You're never too sure with Tetsuya Nomura and Squeenix. Though if they remade FF9, I'd definitely be very happy; it's one of my favourite FF's .. though that card game sucked. I liked the one in 8 better. ... but i'll be honest. I'd buy it, and hope to see blood when Aerith get stabbed. |

Even though I adored FF7 despite only playing and beating it once, I very well want to see an FF6 remake too. Although I find that to be far more risky as that game was a piece of art to me just as chrono trigger was back on the snes, remaking it would need a lot of care. Seeing both those games, and maybe even chrono trigger, all in the crisis core art style would be very satisfying and all that I would want out of a remake. I honestly dont see a remake of FF7 not happening, it is inevitable. I think the only reason FF's 1-6 have been remade so many times is because they are OLD compared to 7+. Give it a few more years and the 7+games will be remade, they go through a 10 year waiting period or something before being worthy of remakes.
