Here's an unknown gem. Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Great game. PS2/Xbox IIRC.

I loved that game, possessing the enormous enemy robots then going on a rampage FTW! I don't fully understand why it failed, perhaps the cartoony looks and lack of marketing, but it's such fun game to play.

My best deals so far would be Brigandine (PS) for $8 used (I'm a strategy rpg whore), Zone of the Enders 2 (PS2) for $10 used and Trapt (PS2) for $15. I was ecstatic for the latter two, as I'd been looking for cheap copies of both for over a year. Brigandine was just a nice surprise.

I picked up Deus Ex for £5 and it's pretty much my favourite game ever.

Also, Second Sight for the PS2. Well worth the small change I paid for it, and very underrated.

The scary thing is that system shock 2 today still sells for more than freelancer, and one in excellent condition will go for the price of new software today.

Tenchu Z for the 360 was $30 (brand new), I'd say that was a pretty damn good bargain.

Yeah man that's a great bargain. They only offered me $20 to play it.

Fine, you may not like it.

But (points to avatar) Ninja are sort of my thing.

Also I should probably point out that the $30 thing is New Zealand dollars, which is roughly
$18.50 US.

Almost all of my games come from the bargain bin or eBay. Ones I've especially enjoyed in recent months include:

Digital Devil Saga - £5
SOS: Final Escape (aka Disaster Report) - £1.99
Forbidden Siren - £3.99
Homura - £4.99
Viewtiful Joe - £3.99

But by far the best has to be... Ring of Red - £2.99

There are plenty of good games that aren't drooled \ rabidly bitten by fanboys.
like if you avoid halo and go for something else you can find AWESOME Gems.

Atlus as a company makes purely awesome games, often with demons, dark, or mythology involved.
Think Persona 3. Enjoyable story, good music, excellent gameplay and graphics, over 50 hours of gameplay and a nice, epic bossfight after a difficult decision.

It put you on edge, though it wasn'T bargain bin or anything.
Digital Devil Saga 1-2 are games most people never heard of but easily clcok at 20~ or so hours each, containing VERY challenging bosses, a dark, twisted world to battle in, good boss songs and a very weirdly touching story that unfolds over 2 games.

User was put on probation for: Poll: Deus Ex, Awsome game?. (Permanent)

The Longest Journey, I hadn't thought about that in a while, but I did genuinely enjoy it. I also picked up Eragon (new for $10 at Gamestop) which really exceeded my expectations considering the price. But, flying around on a dragon? Really, what's not to like?

I bought Total Annihilation in the original box for like $10 (not including shipping).

I can't even find a place to buy cheap games from anymore. Gamestop used to have a bargain bin but then it discontinued the practice for some reason. All the used game shops in the area don't carry PC games, they aren't even allowed to buy them from people (as a number cashiers have told me) and Best Buy has a "Re-Released" rack with mostly crap. Once in a while I see something I could buy like Heroes of Might and Magic [insert #] but it's nothign I'm terribly excited about.

If I had the option to walk into stores and spend 5-10 bucks on classic games my stock of games would triple in a week. I remember the first time I walked into Gamestop when they had that rack I walked out with the entire Doom series, Duke Nukem 3D plus an expansion or two, and I think the expansion to Warcraft 2...

-Magical Starsign ($3 new, ds) was a pretty good game. Felt like an old school 16 bit rpg.
-Morrowind (Xbox, used $8) was an impulse buy. I had no Idea what it was at the time but it turned out to be my favorite xbox game ever
-Sigma Star Saga ($7 new, gba) interesting mix of Rpg & Shmup.
-Spartan Total Warrior (Gamecube, $7 used) Great game, loads of fun.
-Otogi: Myth of Demons (Xbox, $4 used) Simply Amazing.
-Voodoo Vince ($2, used, Xbox) Very Very good platformer. Anyone who even remotely likes platformers should check it out.
I haven't played it yet, but I hope the copy of Rocky (Gamecube) I bought at a yardsale for $1 turns out well. I've heard good things.

I picked up Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders(X-Box Original), and it is one kick-ass game.

It mixes between an RTS and a hack 'n' Slash, except better than Dynasty Warriors. Much better.

Controls are intuitive, story is intriguing, and the gameplay is phenomenal. I recommend picking it up, though it is not backwards compatible.

Yeah, They fucked up the sequel of sorts. I want KUF orginal but like more advanced.

Fallout
Starcraft
Age of Empires 3..They are all PC games.

The Cartoony graphics were a bit odd for a game that was SUPRISINGLY damn serious for it's storyline- thats one of the things that made it charming to me though (like Fable).

My bargain bin games; a chariot racing game called Ben Hur (not based on the film), a cyberpunk(ish) game based on Seven Samurai (Seven Samurai 20XX), a gladiator turn-based game (gladius) and a game based on the Astro Boy anime series.
And I love them all (well I never really got into Astro Boy...)

I do very well buying old games that were legendary hits, but which I never got 'round to playing. If it has a Game of the Year edition, and it's priced at $20, I might buy it.

Stuntman. picked it up for 5 bucks. That game stressed me the hell out, but I enjoyed it. I really don't know why. Alpha Centauri, got it for a buck at a garage sale, played it for hours upon hours. Homeworld as well for the same amount from the same place. Stupid people didn't know what they had.

Earth Defense Force 2017. Come on, even though EVERYTHING about that game screams "Budget B-Movie," and "Why don't we make it a video game and use 25% of the budget on candy?" it still kicks a monumental amount of ass just because of how addicting it is.

A friend of mine has that game, I think I shall have to borrow it from him.

I bought shadow ops off a bargain bin, I guess that one was pretty cool. But also the arcade collections, like street fighters, MK3 and sonic.

I purchased "Dark Cloud" not too long ago for a near-to-free tag and it was worth it. "Ratchet and Clank 1-3" were all great titles at bargain prices. And "Shadow of the Colossus" I purchased at a discount.

I know those were all brought up in magazines, however I bought them on a whim.

A fourth game franchise I bobbed for apples in was "WildArms 3". It received moderately poor reviews, but I enjoyed it none the less. Though I had knowledge of the series before the third installment.

Ah, I thought of another one. I got Everything or Nothing 007 at a flea market for $5. It's not Goldeneye (what is, though?) but it was crazy fun - especially the level where you do a freefall from a cliff...that was rad.

The first three Spyros, Fable TLC, and Shadowrun. Spyros were $5 each, Fable was $10, and Shadowrun was $10. :D

You're not kidding, one of the best (and my favourite) third person shooters out there. Shame about the framerate on the PS2 though.

My best pickup was System Shock 2, 5 dollars at EB. My eyes almost popped out of my head when I was browsing through the pile.
