I thought that was what elementary school was for? /burn Anyway, yeah. The concept is a little flaky, in my opinion. Ripping out the good bits from Star Wars and dumping them into a big pot of Mass Effect with a dash of religion doesn't sound too appealing to me. It's not really a "new" game idea, just a bunch of ideas taken from other games squished together. |

He's a lot more "gray area" than most, and in Jedi Knight II you could use both dark-side and light-side powers. He seems to be the prototype of what you would want to look for. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1516 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | Didn't they make this game and call it Mass Effect? And yes, Jedi aren't all bad- Jedi Knight: Outcast, and that old dude in KOTOR all are the 'grey area' Jedi who don't necessarily agree with the butterfly and unicorns approach of the mainstream Jedi. Also, Luke Skywalker is more badass then people give him credit for. Play Jedi Knight: Outcast- first experiance ever (including the movies) that actually made Luke seem cool or badass to me. |

Also I'll admit this is a poorly hiden rant on "pointless game choises". I hate the criteria most games use for "good" and "evil".(looking at you Bioshock)It is arbitray and retarded. |

sorry for the last post i messed up
with the recent release of the Force Unleashed game and the subsequent bashing of Lucas and the (craptastic) prequils i have revisted a project that i have been working on in my spare time.
this is based on some SW fiction that ive been working on and i reformated for a game.
i have wondered what happens to force users who are to short tempered for the jedi but arent evil enough to be a sith?
the reason i wonder this is because of Lucas's pretentious morality system.
lets review: if you are a force user who gets pissed off and/or shoots lightning you are automaticly compelled to be an evil tosser.
now i have a major problem with this. so i gave it a hearty FUCK YOU and looked to my own christian belifes for a solution.
now you may be thinking "WTF christianity how dose that fix the problem in fact would it not cause more?" no in fact it dose fix the problem. it is a common misconception that the biblical God is unreasonably constrictive on his creation. this is where you get the whole God vs science and God vs magic bullshit. God gave humans and by extention other sentient beings (should thet exist) the ability to do science and think rationaly so he wants us to use it. so again by extention if God created any "magical forces" he would want us to understand ans use them to the fullest. that whole cluster fuck was actualy caused by a few corupt, idiotic popes and misinformed, fanatic atheists.
so anyway enough lectuer on with the game
you the player are a member of what is basicly the (protestant) church in the far future. the problem with the organization is that they have no influance since they have a tiny amount of
force users.(thats why no ones heard of them) you play one of these few force users or "paladins" since i cant call em jedi. now these paladins are some of the most powerful and vicious warriors in the galexy because they seem to use both the "dark" and "light" sides of the force. however thats not the case. you see they are so powerful because they know the truth about the force. the truth is that the force has no "sides" its just energy that the user shapes. the whole "sides" idea was invented by the dark jedi to make an excuse fore there actions. sort of a "the devil made me do it" thing.
i see something akin to Mass Effect in that run missions on various planets to inprove your character. and you have the freedom to go to any planet you like to get missions.
the time period would start around the end of Ep2 run though the clone wars, the civil war and most of the following conflicts in the cannon books. your missions will run parallel to those stories. there will be very big battles to trigger the transfer of time periods
i intend to have more realistic lightsaber combat in this game with most of the "fodder" enemies actually flying apart when you hit them. only bosses and elite enemies can take multiple hits. add force powers drawn and expanded from TFU along with healing powers to round things out.
the morality system is divided into two main figures. these are called "empathy" and "rage"
empathy is gained by healing allies and compleating side missions.
rage is gained with high combos, finishers and offensive power use.
you can be evil but to do so you have to do things like kill civilans and do dirty work for evil factions.
the higher your rating the more effective their related powers becomes.
high empathy means that you can heal an entire battalion and you will be very popular.
high rage will make your character into someone who can go like "FORCE SMASH PUNY BAD GUYS RAAAAARG!"
the good news is you can do both
so thats my idea if you have sugjestions or CONSTRUCTIVE critizisms please state them thanks
