Also, you have to avoid too many accessory or you'll start to look cluttered.
No one wants to hang around travelling merchants.

A good, well crafted, pipe is a thing of beauty but very few people of todays era understand them which is why you have such answers on this board. I personally don't think many can pull off 'the look' required not to appear like a fool with them myself.

PS: I am a hookah person myself. Wouldn't mind a shirlock holmes style pipe as a show piece.

YES! Pipes are awesome. It's a comfortable and sophisticated smoking experience, and once you learn how to stuff your pipe and smoke it correctly, it tastes great! Bongs are nice too though. But seriously, don't listen to all the pipe-haters here. They have no idea what they're talking about - stick to your pipe! If you ever consider smoking it, I recommend flake tobacco without any special flavour additives. It goes quite nicely with a single malt scotch or the likes of it.
