I too love how people dressed on the 40's. Dapper grey or black suits, high leather boots, peaked caps with cool skull badges on them, perhaps even a monocle and leather gloves. 40's fashion was the bomb. Unfortunately if you try to dress like that nowadays you get funny looks from people, it seems that only royalty can get away with that fashion now (but usually only for parties), and even then there was a bit of a scandal in the papers. |

For that to have happened, Communism would have had to existed in practice(it didn't). OT: Each decade has its own, special something, that I like. If I could, I would create a crazy concoction of all decades rolled into one funky mix with good music, charm, self respect, and manners with a health does of free thought thrown in to the mix. |

Aha. I see what you did there. Very good, very good indeed... You've got to admit though, the Nazi Party and the Wehrmacht certainly looked the part, their uniforms and stuff were far classier than ours. Hell, the "presentation" of the Nazi's may well have helped their popularity along. People are suckers for smart military parades and nice big eagle statues and stuff... |

Seconded man, but that's why I pick the 50's. It mostly retained that brilliant, classy fashion sense while the 50's was also the bloom period of bebop hard bop, my favorite jazz sub-genres. The 50's are like the 40's plus some extra awesome stuff and minus WW2 (but plus the Cold War, at least that didn't cost so many lives though).
Don't forget that those uniforms were designed by no less than Hugo Boss, yes Hitler knew quite who to pick for that job. Edit: I don't like quoting the wrong guy. |
