Just because these bands are taking advantage of a new medium through which fans can enjoy their music, does not necessarily mean they are selling out. |

Seriously, they don't make any money at all from music sales. The companies that sponsor them do. Which is why music piracy is bullshit, because even if you download the music illegally the only way you can actually hurt the musicians themselves is if you decide you aren't going to go see them this year during their live concert or if they're one of the relatively few musicians lucky enough to not sign away the rights to their music and still actually get sponsorship. I applaud any and all musically inclined saps who sell themselves out like five dollar whores. You gotta put bread on the table somehow. *Most definitely does NOT work for the corporate fatcats* |

You only sell out if you don't enjoy the music you're making, purely to make money. They already made the music, they enjoyed it, they made lots of money, and now they're making more. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2064 Joined: 20 Aug 2008 | Not really. In fact, I kind of like that the music is appearing in games, since it means I can play an enjoyable game and listen to music I enjoy at the same time, and it is giving the bands some attention, and getting people to listen to them, so it's all good. |

AC/DC, Aerosmith, and the Beatles have their own Guitar Hero and Rock Band games.
Not to mention the countless others that have their individual songs licensed for each game.
To me, it seems like they are selling out.
But at the same time It increases their awareness to the public.
So the good is that they recieve a lot more recognition, especially to the younger generation.
But at the same time it appears they are selling out.
