Don't forget to warn the newbies about Max

Uhhhh.... why? He's just a slightly angry angsty teenager. What's to fear?

Max likes to nibble on the noobs sometimes, but lately he's calmed...a little bit.

He's like the hobo at your local pub. Always there when you arrive, makes smarmy comments (with some awesome ones sprinkled on top), and is still there when you leave.

He's an awesome guy with fans. Why be so bitter about it?

EDIT: And there's something in his demeanour that reminds me of the Escapist of old. I miss those times...

Weird, was it me who got you saying that? After the old thread about the PETA chicken nuggets?

epic snip

You might want to mention that you can feel at home here if you appreciate xkcd, or any geeky type of humor, for that matter.

Two months? That's it? XD (<- EDIT: not meant as a challenge... just saying that some of us lurked longer o.o)

I lurked for maybe twice that before finally posting (on my birthday, no less (b^-^)b ). Then again, I'm usually less inclined to post since I'm kinda the quiet one in person (and you know what they say about quiet people o.o ). And if I don't find something interesting.

Speaking of which, its about time for me to catch up on Apocalypse Lane ): I've been out of the loop for a while, due to a case of Real Life >.< Damn you Real Life, damn you! *fistshake*

Nomad,
Glad to see that although you inadvertently associated this thread with Douglas Adams there was absolutely no connection between his mastery of subtlety and your writings, it would be sad to think you had tried to mimic him and failed,

Good post BTW,

Thanks for the feedback and support, everyone! I was initially planning on adding further content to the post, but I seem to have hit some sort of character/complexity-limit. If I try adding another paragraph, the browser display screws up. So until I've found a way around that, the current version will have to satisfy.

There was nothing inadvertent about it. And I wasn't particularly trying to mimic his style either, since that would make the guide sort of useless... Seeing as Douglas Adams isn't the most informative chap in the world. The thread title is a reference to my simuli in the opening paragraph, likening lurkers to internet hitchhikers, since they tend to hop around the websites in a pattern based on the last link that swooped by.

I wish there'd been something like this when I joined - it took me three months to make an account, never mind start posting.

Thank you very much Nomad. Although it will take me a while to get through the guide, it seems helpful from the glance I made of it, and I shall start reading it soon.

Weird.
