The Kinks have several songs that have a very British essence, if that makes sense. Victoria and Waterloo Sunset spring to mind. I think more people should like the Kinks these days.
Then theres always God Save The Queen and Anarchy in the UK by the Sex Pistols. I dunno if they define British life as such, but they are very British songs...
Also, Dirty Old Town, written Ewan MacColl (the Pogues and the Dubliners have the most famous versions I think) but was actually written about Salford. That just brings to mind images of life in an British industrial town, even for those who've never lived in one. Like me :D
14 lbs = 1 stone, now why can't you yanks catch up with the rest of the world and convert to Metric.
Because we don't want to weigh things by 'stones'. :p
Also the metric system is insane. What if you're weighing a stone? Hey, how much does this stone weigh? "Oh, three stones" No, this one stone "Yeah, it weighs three stones" Then what do these three stones weigh? "Two stones"
Origin Of Resistance: So lately, I've been listening to a lot of British bands (The Stone Roses, The Beatles, Babyshambles, Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, Jamie T, Oasis, Blur ... list goes on) and I was thinking ...
What songs to you are the most British? (Lyrics wise)
For me, I'd have to say: Arctic Monkeys - From The Ritz To The Rubble.
That song is just pure Britannia.
I agree, I was actually going to post that same song.

Whut? The metric system measures mass in kilograms...

Erm, metric system isn't about "stones", it's about kilograms. Britain is the only country I know of that uses "stones".
Still, must be embarassing for the U.S. to be in the same boat as Burma and Liberia.

Sir, if our American Educational System would've taught me where either of those places are I'm sure I'd be greatly offended. :p

Anyway, this whole UK vs. USA is getting silly.
We're both great nations. And if I remember rightly, this is a music based post.

I thought stones were an Imperial measurement...
Sure as hell they're not Metric. To be fair though, we still use metric stuff like feet, inches and miles over here in the UK a lot, just not for "official" purposes :P
Seeing how you didn't give a time-frame, absolutely I could. Might take a few months, but I don't know since I have no clue what the f*ck a 'stone' is. How much is 13 stone?
13 stone is a lot. Average people are under 13 stone. So, you'll probably be eating a bit less than your own weight
"A lot" isn't a unit of measurement. How much is 1 stone, then I'll multiply it by 13.
Try using some initiative and use Google. Don't rely on someone else to prove how intolerant you are. A lot of Americans I know don't even know what the Pound is ... £ = One of them.
Sorry, but I do use google. I just didn't find it that important to find out for myself. Not to mention that google is for teh pr0nz anyway and not for an education :p

Errr I don't think you've quite grasped how the metric system works, Stone is only used for measuring the weight of a person, if you wanted to weight stones (though why you would want to escapes me) you would measure them in grams and kilograms you see.

You realise that Victoria was about the place in Australia, right? Anyway, Afternoon Tea or The Village Green Preservation Society would be better choices.
