So here's the scenario. I give you a magic button. Every time you push this button a random person on Earth dies a horrible death, and you get $100. Would you push it? If so, how many times?

Personally, I would not. Even though I would not get caught, I don't think I could deal with the guilt of knowing I was responsible for somebody's death. So, what about you, Escapist?

Oh man!

There would be more button mashing than in Soul Caliber!

Also, /irony. Your name is evilbunny and you won't press the button.

Why would I bother?

I'd rather earn my money, that way I could actually enjoy my wealth. There's an unsettling trend of people who are born into money/winning the lottery not being happy. The struggle is every bit as worthwhile as the spoils.

There is a movie like that coming out, but that's not where I got the idea, honest.

Of course. I would push that button several thousand times, as the odds of me dying are less than 1 in 7000000000.

Is it bad that I said "Yes I would." when I saw the title, but before I could read the OP?

I'd push it enough times to buy my PS3 and some exclusives, at least.

I'd push it every time I needed (or just wanted) $100.
I'm a horrible person, I know.

Nope.
I had the same reaction.
Wait...does that invalidate my answer?

Oh, and I'd press it at least 5,000 times.

Well, it was a stupid short story and a stupid Twilight Zone episode before it was ever a movie.
I feel the need to tell people that.

For $100 a person? Nah.
Now, maybe if it was $1,000...

No. Because i have a feeling it would be the button to a trapdoor that surrounded the button, and underneath it there was a spike.

soul calibur is not a button masher, its a tempo, not mash based game. button mashers are more like tekken. SC you need to actually practice.

Well I'm not very good at Soul Caliber... which was sort of my point.

No thanks. The cash reward would have to be significantly higher for me to be tempted.
6 figures, at the very least.
And then there would be some temptation. But at only $100, I would never do this.

I would set up a machine to push the button once every five seconds for twenty years.

60/5=12

12*60*24*365.25*20=126,230,400

Thank you, calculator.

No, I would not. I have seen many different scenarios of this. One were the man went to hell for pushing it, as it was a test.

No, not for a measely $100. If it was $1000, or $10000, maybe.

And I swear to god, I'm seeing threads in 4chan a month that trickle into here.

And that would be the funniest thing ever (not you specifically, but to who ever pushed it the first time and it was he/she that died).

My friend and I had this argument earlier. I feel that if someone were to die just after I pushed a button, then my not pushing it would probably not prevent their death. The two events are just so unrelated that my pushing of the button could, in no way, effect the outcome of another person's life. Oh, and I'm in a lead room to prevent any possible radio waves.
Edit: Yes, I'd push it. I dunno how many times. maybe 20 or 30.

I would slam down upon that thing with a mallet..

It'd be like a game of whack-a-mole... 'Cept I'd win every time.

You really should have left it at a million dollars, like the movie you got this from. Thing is, unless you're crazy, no way is a hundred bucks worth a human life, but a million dollars, that is actually a serious decision. A billion dollars, and nobody would hesitate, and a thousand (or a hundred as you've said) and nobody would consider it. But a million dollars? That one's a bit more difficult.

As to the topic, as it is worded in the OP, no, no pressing from me. Again, offer me a million bucks, and I might just think twice about it.

No.
I mean, Christ, it's only a hundred dollars. It'd be like killing a dude for his shoes.
Why? What's the point?
It's a lot less hassle just to get a freaking job and work for it.

Now, if it were a million dollars... I probably still wouldn't do it.
Just because I wouldn't wanna.
I am a flower child and so on.
