That's actually very understandable. The neck is a vulnerable and sensitive area, so fear of contact is quiet common. But I think the throat slashing is something else. Sounds more like a fear of attack in crowds. Played Assasin's Creed lately? (^^ Could not resist) As for me personally, I HATE bugs. Creepy crawly little jerks! I squish roaches, spiders, even ladybugs. Specifically, I'm horrified of Centipedes; I see one I run out of the room. Its so weird. I love snakes and I love heights and such, but I can't stand bugs.
And anything about poking or breaking my ribs. For some reason, though I weigh over 200 pounds, there is -nothing- over my ribs but skin. You can count 'em. And I get very touchy about getting poked in the side.
I wouldn't say it's a phobia but I do cringe when someone one does that to me. It's as if it's a reflex; when someone touches my neck, my arm flies up and almost hits people in the nose.
kman123: Basically I CANNOT handle anyone/thing touching my neck, I literally freak out, its weird as... When my school was having their graduation ceremony, I couldn't look up during the whole time i was on stage as i was imagining someone coming up behind me and slashing my exposed throat :( I dunno, is this a legit phobia? And who else has those quirky fears?
easiest solution. If the area you live in allows you to wear a concealed gun then there you go. The sense of security will make it go away or take self-defense and learn how to beat the crap out of a guy if someone has a thought of doing that to you :P
Sexual Harassment Panda: Try immersion therapy...get a scarf. I guess it's legit, who would really have the right to tell you it isn't? I don't really have any quirky fears of my own, I don't like wasps...that's about it.

I'm physically uncomfortable sitting with my back to an open space, such as at a restaurant. Being up against the wall is fine (I twist my chair a little so that my back is "protected"), and booths are fine. It's not quite a fear reaction, and if I'm in the middle of the room with my back to half of the place, then so be it. Not quite a phobia, but it is strong enough of a quirk that my girlfriends learn to accommodate it because dinners out are that much more fun if they do. It always warms my heart to hear the woman I'm with ask for a booth or a wall table when the restaurant is crowded.
Aloran: Personally my fear atm is of the wind at night. I don't know why. There's just something very unsettling about the wind rustling through the trees in the dark and drowning out all other noise. I always get paranoid that something that I can't hear is going to get me.
Meh, maybe it'll go away :)
(Also, if I saw a panda with guns that would be my new fear probably.)
Well... the OP has sort of a half-phobia. A phobia is a debilitating fear that is defined as being irrational; that is, it has little basis on real danger. Therefore, is can be said that it's a phobia, as not everyone is out to strangle you to death. However, more often than not, someone won't grab your neck if it isn't to strangle you. So yeah, a half-phobia.
Actual fears? You know how after playing TF2 for a long while you find yourself getting nervous when you expose your back in the middle of nowhere on your own? I get that in real life.

That's not that unusual. It's just a specific form of aphenphosmphobia, the fear of being touched. P.S. I`m atelophobic- afraid of imperfection. And: Anatidaephobia - The Fear That You are Being Watched by a Duck
I have a strange aversion to belly buttons. I just don't like how they look and keep thinking that they will open up and people's guts will spill out from the orifice.
i don't think it's a legit phobia as i'm sure the definition of such is a crippling fear that inhibits normal life.
Nope, phobias are basically irrational fears. An acute phobia would ruin your life but I can live with mine, (crustaceans) without any real problems.
Interestingly, my other great fear, (dentists) isn't a phobia because it isn't irrational. Dentists do cause misery and pain to others. As do axe murderers.
Vrex360: I have a phobia of the stove and indeed all forms of gas appliances. No matter how many times I watch someone else do it and get told how perfectly safe it is I just keep freaking out because I'm always afraid its going to overload or the gas will leak and I'll get blown up. I just can't avoid that phobia and I can never cook on the stove without trembling thinking I'm about to blow up... I mean once the thing actually did catch fire and I was so scared. I don't get it, I'm a grown man (by which I mean I am eighteen) but I'm still afraid of the stove.
Okay. This is pretty much 100% impossible.
So.......... a domestic gas supply system rates gas on a few different specifications (Wobbe no., LHV, HHV etc.) anyway basically the flame that can come out of the line is set based by that no. and the standard nozzle sizes of appliances hooked up to the system (ovens, stoves etc.) So the flame is fixed. i.e. as long as your gas distributor stays on specifications (which they will and even if they didn't there are usually multiple feeds into the network which balance each other out and fines impossed on companies that fall outside the specifications range too far or too often etc.) the flame size coming out of your oven will fall within a small band of heights. (So when you turn it on this giant fireball will NEVER occur)
Also because gases are compressible, you need a lot of gas is a very small space, (or conversely, in an open system the gases quickly disperse), you need a closed system to cause enough gas to build up for it to be dangerous (i.e. the movie thing where you leave one of the stove gas thingies on and fill the house with gas and then 20 minutes (probably longer, as most domestic gas lines are under pretty light pressure) later light a match and BOOM = pretty much real) BUT if you have windows open etc. etc. or you are just turning your oven on then this will never ever ever happen. Then, if you were dumb enough to do that, when you walked into your house you would smell domestic gas as they add trace components (probably H2S or mercaptans) to it to stop this happening.
i.e. if you can't smell gas everywhere then there is a < 0.00000000000000000000001% chance that the level of gas is high enough.
What is much more dangerous is high pressure gas tanks, like those you see outside petrol stations and on fuel tankers etc. as the weak point is always in the head of the tank and whicher way that is facing is the way it will fly (and it will go 100's of metres VERY fast if it does burst - which again is HIGHLY unlikely, but for sake of comparison to an oven it is more likely to happen) so if your house is near a petrol station make sure their tanks face vertically and not horizontally.
:D
Good info, but it's not going to help this guy. No amount of explanation or demonstration will help. That's why it's called an irrational fear.

I know of someone else who has the same phobia, i can't remember whom though. It may have been my fiancé? but yeah, they hate it, especially from behind
I have kind of a weird fear. I don't know whether you would classify it as a phobia or not, but I'm terrified of swimming in lakes or the ocean :P. I'm fine with swimming in pools or bathtubs. I just don't like the idea of swimming with fish, but I'm not afraid fish, it's just weird and I can't explain it. Also one of my friends hates people touching her all together, so being afraid of someone touching your neck isn't that weird.

I knew a guy once who hated anything touching his wrists. If something did, he'd freak out, and sometimes he'd have to go and wash them. I think both his problem and yours sound like a fear of those vulnerable areas being harmed, as they're very exposed?
