...erm...I've got 3 surviving grandparents, but that's not an option... EDIT: oops. Force of habit. My Dad's mother died when he was 7, so one grandparent is actually a step-grandparent...
I'm not sure, honestly. My mothers mother is alive, my step-fathers mother is alive, my birth-fathers parents I have no clue about. I was really close to my mothers father, he acted like my dad and was my role model, and a damned fine on at that, I go to his grave every time I'm home, and used to every year on his birthday.
yeah sup with that. mine are dead.
All 4 of mine are still alive. Is it just me, or are grandmas the best cooks ever?
I have... no idea. My family is very disconnected with each other.
All four. On the other hand, they're all the way on the other side of the planet and I might not ever see them in real life again. Oh, and I can't say I feel too much of a connection with them either way. They are waaay too old. There are very few things we could like or assosciate with together, and seeing how half of my grandparents already went senile it's better that I don't see them perish slowly and focus on old memories that were somewhat nice - like spending days upon days playing chess with my maternal grandfather and having my paternal grandfather steal and hack games for me (Yes, one of my grandparents is actually semi-modern and is a hacker in a broad (and correct) meaning of the term). They're pretty okay, but I can't say that I ever cared that much about blood-relations. I don't think that you should care about people just because of your DNA. I'm thankful for all the things they've done for me, but I do not feel any connection to them and I don't think that is going to change.
Both my dad's parnets are still alive with my Grandpa being you're typical dirty old man. I see them often enough and they are good people but we're kinda distant like I am with a lot of my family.
Yeah sorry, I'm tired, should be fixed (I hope, I'm crap with posting really). I have a step-grandmother alive, however she comes from a marriage when they were both elderly, and she doesn't have any love for our family... Turns out she was some sort of gold-digger, so she'll have to excuse me if I don't count her.
One, but we're estranged from her so muh. Also, my granddad remarried, so my step-grandma is still alive as well, not sure if that counts.
All five of my grandparents are still alive, although my grandfather in Iran is very sick.
Only 1, my grandmother on my mom's side. My grandfather, on my mom's side, deid two years back, due to cancer, my dad's om died when I was 2, and I never meat my dad's father. He walked out on their family many years ago
I've got three surviving Grandparents that are my bloodlines. I think I have ten if you count all of them. Divorce runs in the family.
Both my dad's parents are alive and both my mom's parents are not. My grandpa died right before I was born and my grandma died when I was 12. My other grandma and grandpa are going strong though and are coming up on their 60th wedding anniversary so good for them.
Damn straight, they are. XD My dad's mother is still alive and living with us. She's awesome.
All 4 of my grandparents are still alive, but my grandparents on my dad's side are already dead to me. One has alzheimers and the ather is suffering from brain damage due to lack of oxygen to the brain from a heart problem. Both of them are only shells of what they once were.
I have 3 surviving grandparents. I have two grandmothers, one grand father. My dad's father died before I was born. But I'm not really connected with my relatives. I'm very close to my paternal's side, as his brother and his three sons use to come up every summer and we use to have late-night LAN parties on Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. *Sigh.* Good times.
All my grandparents are still alive thank Christ, and both families have a history of long life. On a freaky note, my two grandads were born on the same day of the same month of the same year. They share a fucking birthday! Coincidence?
One left, soon to be none.
Got all of them but they live in Mexico so can't see them so often
3 of them died before I was born, then my paternal grandmother died 11 days after I was born. It's not exactly happy times having no memories of grandparents.
3 surviving grandparents - grandmother, father's side, grandmother, mother's side and grandfather, mother's side - but he's disappeared, off into the ether. He's alive, but he well, left. And wants nothing to do with my mother's family.
I've only got both grandmas..... Both of my grandpas died before my memory even began. And one was before I was even out of the womb....
All my blood grandparents are dead (out lived by my great-grandmother!) but I have an extended family where a total of 2 live.
Both Maternal still alive. Both Paternal dead. My Grandma died on Christmas. Worst Christmas ever.
So true, both my grandma's cook the best food in the world. What I wouldn't give for one of their steak pies right now... I've got 3 grandparents still alive. My paternal grandfather died when I was 7
Agreed a thousand times. All four of mine are still alive.
Just one. My mom's mom. Mu grandmother is getting in age too. She is almost 90. She is a cool person too. Such is life I guess.
one and she's fucking miserable and there's fuck all I can do about it except ruin my life to comfort her in her dying years >_< fucking reality
You have not lived until you've had some of my grandmothers fried chicken. Best in the world.
Just one, My dad's dad passed away when he was 18, and my Dad's mom passed away 7 years ago. My grandfather on my mom's side passed away 5 years ago and my mom's mom is the last surviving grandparent I have.
3 grandmas and one grandpa, all four
Hey OP DON'T BE SINGLE MINDED, look I have grandparents allover the place, since, my maternal side is divorced, and my great grandma is still alive, and she's in her 60s! You act like a single minded prick, with no "Other" option so heres who are here. Paternal grandpa Maternal grandma great grandma Now look at that? Does that look like 4 grandparents to you? Four is the max you put on the poll? Next time put an other ,all or above option.
One, paternal. Evil does not die easy...
I've only my mother's father left for that generation of my family. My two grandmothers died before I was born, and my father's father passed away a few years ago. We recently all met up in Reno, and it couldn't have been more sombre. I wanted to slap everyone and tell them to drink, gamble, have some fun... but just stop thinking "This might be the last time we see each other". Gawd xD

So my paternal grandmother, the last of my grandparents, just passed away yesterday and it got me to thinking about grandparents in general. So I thought I'd pose some questions here and see what you all have to say.
My family isn't really tight knit, I don't even see most of my relatives every Christmas (but they all prefer it that way really). My mam was pretty close to all of my grandparents though, so I used to see one set or the other every weekend when I was younger. As I got older I'd see them less and less, until I only saw them a few times a year.
What's your situation with regards to your grandparents? Are they all still alive or have some of them passed on? Are you close to them or do you only rarely see them during the holidays and such? If they've all passed on do you have good stories and memories of them to share?
