Code Geass and Death Note are both, I believe, two seasons long.

Could be wrong - but they're excellent nevertheless.

*that's "Elfen Lied", sorry for being a spelling-nazi

FLCL was short (much more so than the manga) and awesome

FLCL was really fucking short.
Trigun was pretty short.

It depends on what you call short.

We talking like, less than 30 episodes or like less than 100?

I think CCS was pretty short. >.>

Cowboy Bebop was pretty good, as was Trinity Blood. Both a season long, if I'm not mistaken and I might very well be.

I loved Elfen Lied...

I'm currently getting into Last Exile which has about 30 odd episodes I think. I'm enjoying it so far.

Nanoha A's, Haruhi (season one; endless eight ruined the second season), and Elfen Lied are a few good examples.

Actually, I'd say that a lot of the best anime are the shorter ones because they focus on telling a good story in that time rather than going on like a lot of long-running series.

Seriously, how many times do those same three series need to be recommended? Change the bloody record guys.

Go watch Darker than Black.

Gurrenn lagann (27 episodes) and ergo proxy (23 episodes) are both good

Oh and Hellsing 13 episodes or 6 OVA's the OVA's are way better and tell the same story

I've been watching Death Note on Hulu recently, and I must agree with you there. It's like a cross between Artemis Fowl and Sherlock Holmes, with a sense of urgency about it similar to what you feel at a murder mystery party.

Slight spoiler in my next statement about the show.

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan ?

Personally Love furi kuri flcl or as has been stated however the heck it is pronounced Master of mosquiton was pretty good both the short ova and to a lessser extent regular size series, if we are counting 16 ep's as short am currently fanatical about Baccano. Know I shouldn't but laughed myself half to death at puni puni poemy although whether you can count it as short when it is merely a branch off of excel saga is arguable, enjoy cromarty high only 15 min long episodes defines short series in a different way,

Isn't that kinda cheating around the size issue thats really one 50 episode series isn't it?

I believe they may have been a bit older than that but both "12 year olds" were trained to take over and surpass the original

Anyway, it looks good - I've seen the TV Tropes page a few times.

But yeah, it is kind of a sad thing.

Technically, it's three different serials that take part in a larger series, each with their own plotlines (although Fumoffu is mostly stand-alone episodes), but I suppose you are right...

I'm also really fond of a series called "Rune Soldier"; 24 episodes long and apparently a sibling series to "Record of Lodoss War" (same world, different continent), although I'm not familiar with the latter.

I'm surprised no one's said Afro Samurai yet. It has freaking Samuel L Jackson in it, therefore raising its awesomefactor off the charts.

It's only 12 episodes+an OVA and a few episodes of a new series.

Tsubasa Chronicles
Black Cat
Zombie Loan
Blood+
Chobits
Cromartie High School

Always struck me as a little too loli-esque, to be honest.
Though I did watch Strawberry Panic! and I fucking loved it, because I am a huge girl you guys.

Ah, damn, you beat me to it. Sneaky ninja, you. :P
I agree, Afro Samurai was pretty cool. As silly as it gets and only 5 episodes long (if memory serves), but cool nonetheless. (Incidentally, the game wasn't bad as well.)
I hear there's a new series out - any recommendations on that?

Also, out of the short ones, FLCL is really too good to be true. It's like one of those improbably awesome fucked-up dreams, and then you wake up, wishing you were back in the dream - except the dream has materialized itself on your DVD shelf. xD

Strawberry Panic is excellent, an A++ school comedy title and anyone who disagrees is wrong.
