(I searched this, I found one example, but it was at least five or six months old so no harm done.)

Anyway the thread question is simple, post your top three anime openings.

Note: No flaming, I.E statements like, 'you have a bad taste in anime, those are some of the worst songs I've ever heard, your mother...' Basically things like that, these openings are opinion only.

Note 2: If you don't have a top three, or just can't be bothered to post them all. Then just post one.

That's it, so I'll start by posting mine.

Suiseiseki IRL:

Valkyria Chronicles

I love that anime so much!

But I'd say the opening for Pandora Hearts cos I love the lyrics.

Or Cowboy Bebop. =]

This would probably change on a daily basis, but:

I was trying to be somewhat original, but Gurren Lagann kinda killed that ambition.

1) Akira's Nuke-bar-bike chase sequence.

2) The Casino robbery in Castle of Cagliostro.

3) The assassination in Ghost in the Shell.

None of them are TV series style openings, because I find those incredibly irritating, they never, ever fit to the series and they always sound like they escaped a mid nineties arcade game. I can't help but hate them, they're all bad sound design!

These ones I like because they set the scene, are funny and in Akira's case have simply mind blowing quality of animation, there's 50 different shades of red in it and the whole thing was drawn by hand, even the transparent neon- holographic signs. I also think the ending (when the guy gets gunned down by the Police) is the most brutal thing in any anime I've seen. It avoids most of the OTT crap most series and films fall into.

#Getting youtoob clips now, actually, forget that, just buy the films, you won't regret it.

Bleach-Second Opening- D-technolife by Uverworld
Code Geass R2-Second opening- Worlds End by Flow
and lastly Gundam 00-First opening- Daybreaks Bell by L'Arc-en-Ciel
those are my favorite three opening because of the music and the animation in the opening song

The First opening of Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, the tune isn't bad either.

Death Note
While I'd be lying if I said I ever really got into this series, I do like the opening

Kannazuki No Miko
It's not the music, or the visuals, if you've seen this series, you know what happens later on, and you also know that they never change the opening, even after what happens. The opening then becomes somewhat sarcastic, and as a lover of sarcasm, I have to salute this choice.

1. cowboy bebop
a classic jazz piece set to an awesome art style.
2. wolf's rain
haunting music by Yoko Kanno and shows the desparation of the world of the wolves.
3. Death note OP 2
Disturbing imagery and awesome J-metal really shows the twisted nature of the show.

Why does this only have to apply to anime? Are all the other mediums of motion picture not good enough for you?
