On the Record Posts: 5227 Joined: 13 Dec 2008 | A short ten minute film I was involved with last year (currently stuck in development hell) was about an incestuous relationship between a girl and her cousin. A novel I'm writing is about a guy whose girlfriend is murdered in the prlogue, becomes a vampire, then slowly turns sadistic and psycho because the fact that her sire is evil and her bllodlust are battling against her residual feelings for the aforementioned main guy in the story. I also did a short story, on the Short Story Thread, that was the basis for that, where a guy falls in love with a vampire girl. Another was about a vampire girl seducing then murdering some guy. My original short story series was mainly about a love triangle where it turns out one of the two girls was sexually abused by her uncle, who turns out to be her father, and kills him when he tries to rape her. And to top it all off, two years ago I wrote a screenplay about a similar story to 'I Know What You Did Last Summer', but with an actual ghost. In the final scene a main character confesses her love for the villain while he's literally carving her heart out with a knife... Okay. I defy ANYBODY in this thread to come up with anything worse than all that. Given almost all of these were from my own twisted imagination... |

Urgh to you. I like the Twilight love story thanks lol. I personally find Wuthering Heights messed up. Its more a hate story then a love story |

Personally, I just think Heathcliffe's insane. So really, I can sort of relate to him ;) And I agree, I like Twilight too. I'm aware of it's flaws, bad writing and Mary-Sue main characters (personally, my favourite characters are Alice and Jasper), but I still enjoy it. And the film was actually pretty good given the material they had to work with... |

Yeah, especially the birth scene, and how the werewolf bloke falls in love with the 3-minute old baby girl...like twisted reverse-imprinting I take the mick out of my girl-friends who like that crap Ooooh! Amma so Sparklee! Cus Amma so Pweddee! Ooooh! He's so Sparklee! I wuv him, make me a vampire! Noooo! It's really bad being a vampire, and I'll show you just how bad it is by demonstrating my extreme intellegence, strength, dexterity, atheleticism and beauty. Who'd want that? SPARKLEE! |

Oh god! Love and vampires DO NOT MIX! Hasn't Twilight taught us anything?! |

I had a challenge about writing love fiction for the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Try having a woman who believes in the emperor fall for a devout follower of Slannesh. |

And the fact that Stephenie Meyers is a mormon dose not help it. |

Oh Jesus Christ I read about that on TV Tropes.
Seriously. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1798 Joined: 14 Nov 2007 | Oldboy takes the cake for most twisted love story, by far. Won't go into details here because it's 1. a spoiler and 2. too disturbing to even really discuss, but that ending... jesus fucking christ. They're sure as hell going to have to change that somehow if they ever do a Hollywood remake. |

Read the Eisenhorn trilogy. Love exists in 40k, it's just... Most disturbing love story (apart from Stan be Eminem) has got to go to the movie Secretary. You can go on about robot clowns having sex with ninja monkies and spawning elder gods all you want - Secretary is more disturbing because it could happen! |

You know that's actually one of my favorites movies... the book came out a year before Twilight and the movie came out a month before Twilight so basically Twilight is a ripoff. Plus the child actors from Let the Right One In were 10 times better than the 18 year old "actors" but I'm not going to go into that... |

Eternal oblivion is mine, so I'll take sparkle-tastic unlife.
In-universe, they have super-strength, super-speed, super-intelligence, incredible beauty, and an optional ability that's usually something like mind reading or seeing the future. You're not so bright. |

It was a great movie, I was just watching it and saying "oh, screw this" with regards to the romantic sub plot. I'm as much a fan of looking past the surface as the next guy who wants a really beautiful woman to see me for the brilliant man I am, but even I accept that there are limits. If I'm the size of a mac truck, no woman is going to want to ride my baloney pony. On Taming of the Shrew, though: What's wrong with sadism and bondage? I assume you mean sado-masochism, since I'm not sure what macho-sadism would be, but I digress. Remember for the whole "she eventually learns to be servile" thing that it's a timeframe issue. Petruchio was (by the mores of the time) doing Katherine a favor by bending her to his will. The fact that the best she had by the end was the ability to banter with him, but eventually yield to his will on every important issue is less sexism and more "how it was" |

Typical "damsel in distress" situations, most of the female anime characters are just clingy, and a few other things I'm too exhausted to think of at the moment. |

Neither a damsel in distress, nor clingy. And that's from an exceedingly popular anime right there, the first name which popped into my head, in fact. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1731 Joined: 16 Mar 2009 | "Beauty and the Beast" comes to mind. Look at the proportions on that fucker. He'd probably fucking destroy that woman O.O |

I was reminded because of another thread of a discussion I had been in with a couple of my friends after watching Paprika:
Is there a more overwhelmingly disturbing love story out there than the one in Paprika? I don't want to ruin anything for those who don't know, so I'll spoiler it below:

So, what love stories have you seen that just made you say "that's completely messed up"?
