Nope, it's as good as it's ever been. Which is to say, awesome.
Well, I haven't watched any episodes since '08 so I can't really say. Still, if what you say is correct then it could start getting stale.
basically this I lost the Whale Wars episode and laughed like crazy, and the WTF episode. both great, new episodes. It's definitely a different show then it was in season 3, but it doesn't mean it's worse, or that it's lost its magic. it's just changed. EDIT: and as for the US election one, the fact of HOW uptodate that was, like, it aired basically the day Obama won, and even had their acceptance/concession speeches in it verbatim. I thought it was pretty neat actually..
They've moved away from fart humour to do parodies, and I think the new South Park is hilarious!
FUCK YOU WHARE! AND FUCK YOU DORPHIN! haha... makes me laugh every time.
I've never liked South Park. So it's never had "it" for me.
Well its doing well for what its doing. I mean in one of the old episodes it becomes extermely raceist its about these black rich guys who move in and everyone burns lower case "t,s" to kick them out they also kick them out of buses and bars sound familler? and at the end they dress up as "ghosts" to chase them out and mr.garrison say half of a dangerus raceist word if he said all of it south park would have been shut down.
I thought they might have lost "it" some time ago, but recent episodes convinced me otherwise.
You do realise that they were criticising society with that, right?
Unless you've seen the SP episode where Randy is on a game show, he's asked the question 'People who annoy you' and he has to fill in the missing letter N_GGERS. The correct answer being naggers as in people who nag, but Randy says the other word, they weren't shut down.
I was afraid they lost 'it' in season 11.
I think it's actually getting better. It still has that same kind of over-the-top, ridiculous humour, but it's exploring very pertinent themes in far more obscure (I can't say subtle with a straight face) analogies than before. You can't blame South Park for keeping up with current events - that's what they've ALWAYS done. It's what stops their material from stagnating. It's one of the few shows I watch that changes enough to still be fresh after almost fifteen years, and yet it still hasn't changed the core of what makes the show funny. Plus, it manages to be both genuinely ingenious and totally, utterly, hilariously stupid at the same time, and you've got to love that.
i think it hasn't lost it. but i also havn't watched it in a while. i'v been on here when it comes on because thats the only time i can get on.
I really like SP. It has its ups and downs but I'll always watch it to see what they do next. I really enjoyed the latest ep. with the bikers. It wasnt amazing but still fun to watch.
"FUCK YOU WHALE!" "I'm not dead, thats ignorant" No, it's as awesome as it ever was.
"Fuck you chicken!! FUCK YOU COW!!" "See son? Now the japanese are normal, like us."
I agree completely. I've watched the show for years and I loved it, but after season 10 it's like the well has run dry. The only episode from the season 11 to 13 that was genuinely hilarious was Major Boobage. Then again, you can look at the bright side and think that they did have 10 quality seasons. The Simpsons strated getting stale after only 4.
lol, simpsons didn't get good at all until season 4. I won't say that it's last 6 or so seasons have been great, but if you're arguing that the early simpsons were the best, then you are certifiably wrong.
Well, to each there own, I guess. I just like The Simpsons best when Homer was still a normal kinda guy trying to do the right thing but ultimatly screwing up in the end. Afterwards he just became the brainless family goofball.
No, it has not lost it's stupidity and has not gained anything funny. It has sucked and still sucks.
I can't honestly see much changes between south park in the past and now, it still tackles society's often idiotic problems and it's fun doesn't only depend on blood and gore.
its not necessarily bad, but it isnt as good as previous seasons.
No, I think it may just be satirising a culture that you may not be aware of. It happens.
The biker episode wasn't very funny. The only part that had me laughing was the motorcycle noise the bikers made with their mouths. The other two new episodes were good though. I think with the latest series you have to agree with the writers about a certain subject or you just won't find it funny at all.
Woah, woah! I agree with your other points, but seasons 4-7 of The Simpsons were the golden age of the show! 8&9 were good, and after season 10 it started waning.
I'm fully aware of the culture's it's satirizing thank you. It's satirized the Japanese before, two that immediately come to mind are the Chinpokomon and Ladder to heaven episode. Thanks for your input though...
its still amazingly funny
Sounds right. | |
Dead Celebrities was Awesome I was disappointed by them dealing with Hiroshima(Could have been much cleverer and have a point to it)
Pretty much this. | |
South Park has always been hit and miss at times. With that said consistenly it proves, to me at least, that it's the funniest damn cartoon out there. I love the new episodes so far.
SP hasn't lost it, the focus is just more on current events now. The actual humour hasn't changed a great deal.
It was ok, FAR from best... But, a few years ago they lost it... I know the queef sisters one made me quit watching the show... Chimpokomon was probably the best one ever...
Agreed. And it is as superb as ever in my view. 'The China Problem' was pant wettingly hilarious.
^ This. The new episodes seem to continue the inconsistency really. I didn't find Dead Celebrities to be overly funny (good moments though) but Butters Bottom Bitch had me in stitches. 'Know what I'm sayin'?'
What about the episode where 'Timmy' wants to get laid?

I've been watching South Park for years now, and have stood by it saying that it was one of the best cartoons AND shows ever made. Whilst younger I could appreciate it for its at times juvenille nature, as I grew older I watched older episodes again and realized there was a lot more to it than gruesome deaths and grotesque situations, a lot of episodes had a good message behind them, and highlighted the often ridiculous issues of our society.
However, in the past couple of seasons I think the show's began to fumble severely. It seems Matt Stone and Trey Parker are more concerned with making episodes that are as up to date with current events as possible than making a good, well thought out show (for example, the US election episode). I'd also go as far to say that the current season hasn't had one decent episode so far, making desperate attempts to strike up buzz-terms like 'Fish sticks', and Cartman singing 'Poker Face'; frankly I think it's hit a wall.
What do you think? is South Park still good, or should it come to an end?
