so basically what I want to know is what would you rather be, rich but not famous or famous but not very rich?

Personally I would rather be rich because I think the media would be very annoying.

Fortune, i can buy everything i want, and who cares about media attention anyway.

Fortune, being famous would suck.

Although, being famous because I am a respected [something] would be alright, but being a famous socialite, or pop singer would be downright horrible.

Famous, but only for the things I enjoy doing and am good at. I'm not too fussed about being rich. I just want enough money to pay off all my student loans and bills, enable me to get a good flat (preferably a swanky Docklands apartment or something) and enough to let me live comfortably and buy a few luxuries without needing to worry about my svings going dry or whatever. If I have that, that's all I need. So yeah, I'd rather be famous if it's for something I'm good at and enjoy doing, like acting or writing...

Money, I could live life care-free and in comfort, but with fame I would have to contend with the bullshit of the media as well. With just fortune I could be as much of a bastard or a slob as I wanted and nobody would care.

I thought with fame comes fortune, hence the term rich and famous. Then again, wealth can be quantified with a bank balance, but how do you measure fame?.

Perhaps fortune rather than fame. I'd prefer that I think.

I would hate being famous. That's why I chose fortune, if only because there are just 2 options on the poll.

Good question for me, actually. Being rich and unknown would be just plain awesome, but if i was world-famous, i could spread my agenda with ease. I'm not sure who i'd like to become - rich guy or famous guy.

I don't get why people want to be famous. Every time I think of fame I think of someone like Robbie Williams, who's blatantly insecure. Being famous for fame's sake ain't cool.

Fortune, fame looks so shit. it makes me think that the famous are generally rich as a consolation for having so many annoying people hang off of them.

Given what I would be if famous (rockstar or writer) it would tend to have rather a lot of fortune attached. But even if it didn't, I'm one of those lame people who actually does things for the art, not the money.

I wouldn't mind a bit of fame, to be honest. The attention seeking bastard I am. But I wouldn't like worthless fame.

But fortune wins hands down, if I was rich enough not to have to work I could do whatever I wanted. Be that making a super awesome album, or writing a super awesome novel or being behind some super awesome films. Plus I'd have the 'rich list type fame'. Anyway, if I was RICH BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS then I could have some scrounging socialite children to play the fame game for me, and fall out of nightclubs coked up to their eyeballs.

They go hand in hand if you're famous you'll most likely get whatever you want and if you're rich people will know who you are and bother you regardless. But yeah fortune at first I'd have peace until the people come knocking at my door for money.

From someone who got a brief and very very small taste of the "fame without much money" thing, I'd choose 'a rich nobody' any hour of any day of the week. The novelty of being recognized is pretty much the only thing fame has going for it, and that novelty wears off in about 1 day, and becomes a huge pain in the d&*k every day after that. I don't think there is one single consequence with the 'rich and nobody knows who you are' side of things!

Fame isnīt going to get me a mansion with a swimming pool and all the lapdances I could possibly want.
