Neill Blomkamp--District 9 was solid gold.
Terry Gilliam or Andrei Tarkovsky. I loved the film Stalker.
Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp
Yep, this Also Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, George Romero, Tim Burton and a few others that I cannot recall at this moment.
Ditto, Tim Burton. | |
Uwe Boll...........(awkward silence) Hahahaha no! I mean uhh.... Peter Jackson!
I can't decide between these three: peter jackson, hayao miyasaki ,ans Quentin Tarentino.
Quentin Tarantino tops my list. Only Tarantino can make a conversation about McDonalds food seem incredibly awesome. Close seconds are Robert Rodriguez, Tim Burton and Peter Jackson.
Danny Boyle, Wes Anderson, Tim Burton and Peter Jackson are great. James Cameron and Spielberg get an honorable mention. But the true artist is really Micheal Bay, I mean come on, he's got MICHEAL BAYSPLOSIONS!!! kaboom! :) jk
JJ Abrams and James Cameron are the ones who spring to mind
This. James Cameron is my favorite, and J.J. Arbams is damn good. ALos Paul Verhoeven, Ridley Scott, Kevin Smith, and Steven Spielburg. George Lucas gets an honorable mention.
Most definitely Tim Burton. I love what J.J Abrams did to Star Trek, and George Lucas; Original Trilogy.
uwe boll......no im serious, i really liked the postal and farcry movies and Quinten tarintino for the films, kill bill 1+2, pulp fiction, reservior dogs, death proof.......ahh what the hell all of his films are pure win. EDIT: stanley Kubrick (not sure on spelling) but he is awesome.
Takashi Miike. (Odishun, A tale of two sisters.) EDIT: Oh! Old Tarantino before he had to make homages to everything. I loved Reservoir dogs and Pulp Fiction was fine too. The last many years though I haven't liked a single movie of his.
Ridley Scott. Alien. Gladiator. American Gangster. Blade Runner. Etc.
Hayao Miyazaki That guy just can't make a bad movie if his life depended on it.
Uwe Boll. | |
Jackson and old Tarantino.
I hope that was sarcasm | |
Werner Herzog. Absolutely everything by him I adore.
I've been on a kick of his films lately, I'd only seen a few but I got on a roll. The man is to anime what Pixar is to 3D.
Peter Jackson, and the directors of the Star Wars movie Lucas didn't direct.
Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Thirst, I'm a Cyborg but that's Ok)! But I do love a bit of the Coen Brothers, Tarantino and Pedro Almodovar I hate Tim Burton though. The only film he's directed that I've enjoyed is Edward Scissorhands and I guess Sleepy Hollow was alright.
David Cronenburg - Master of old fashion sci fi
Danny Boyle, Hayao Miyazaki, Tarantino, Stanley Kubric, Brad Anderson, Francis Ford Copolla and Todd Haynes for making "I'm not there".
tale of two sisters is a kim ji-woon film
I'm guessing you mean Irvin Kershner, but Lucas didn't direct RotJ either.
Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg, The Pythons...
Yeah, Tarkovsky is possibly my favourite too. "Stalker" is very good, but "Mirror" and "Andrei Rublev" especially are my favourites. I'd also add Ozu, Bergman and Mizoguchi to that.
You're aware he didn't actually direct Nightmare before Christmas?
Micheal Mann or Ridley Scott. I've never seen a film of theirs I didn't like :D
Damn your right. Somehow got it into my head that they were made by the same guy. They are kinda similar in many ways.
and Kubrick and Tarantino
Stanley Kubrick Dr. Strangelove, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket... Need I say more?
You need to say 2001: A Space Odyssey, Barry Lyndon, Eyes Wide Shut... There's no one quite like Kubrick. *swoons*

Mine would have to be Tim Burton. I just love the way he can take a completely random, messed up plot that could scar people and turn it into something so fun and querky (see Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas).
I also have to mention Quentin Tarantino for writing and directing my favourite movie of all time, Inglourious Basterds
