I make some exceptions, but I no longer collect DVDs and download every little thing. Video games pretty much took over as my hobbie. I wonder what will be next.

Trigun. The only anime I can never get bored of.(was my Anime Popper)
Gundam I grew out of however, I'm starting to get bored of anime.
Anime series that I hate are Lucky Star and The melancholy of haruhi suzumiya. Those two in my opinion were god awful.

When Anime first came over here via MANGA and VIS video I probably had 500 or so VHS tapes. The sad thing is absolutely no one wants them so all of them got tossed in the garbage.

I still watch anime, but not even half of what I used to. I don't think I'm gonna out grow it anytime soon. There's still some I enjoy.

Aha! So YOU are the enemy!

Still, if I had to choose between having a good significant other and having good anime, I'd chuck my Planetes collection right out the window.

This is more or less my problem with every single medium on the planet.

No new profile picture for you, young man. (DISCLAIMER: "Young" being on the basis that it's you in that picture, and you're not posing one of the people you killed yesterday.)

Ahem. OT: I've never really watched anime. I should probably try though, so I can outgrow it as well.

Wait....I thought Max was a girl?

Mindfunk.

It's a lady friend of mine, actually.

Nemu:

Eh, I'm a metal fan, but I tend to be more amused by Max's online persona than offended or baited by it.

By "amused" I mean "generally filled with apathy".
*shrug*

Actually my online persona is what I'm like when I'm not spending every second of every day telling outrageous lies or acting like I know I'm supposed to act.

So it's not really a persona so much as it is "as close to a true personality as I've got."

Anyway, I think kitties are cute, so I would not kill them.

Sorry. I less looked at the picture than flicked over it with my eyes, because the season finale of Doctor Who was on.
NO-ONE fucking outgrows Doctor Who.

Wait till you "out grow' video games. And books. And life in general. Well, I guess there will be plenty of time to be a passive politically correct worker drone in between.

I was never a big "anime nut" - I haven't been to a convention yet, although one of my friend keeps trying to pull me into it... And while I do watch anime and am a member of a tiny anime club, I do not do it very often and I generally focus on a few very specific things.

I do not see how one can outgrow a medium. Now, and in 50 years from now, I'll still be able to enjoy a cartoon, if not necessarily for it's "depth" then for it's animation. If you look at anything, the majority of it is probably shit anyways.

Do I like generic stereotypical Tolkien rip-off fantasy books that try nothing aside from copying the old cliches and changing up a few names? Hell no. But I'd still consider myself a fantasy fan and reader, if not an amateur writer at that. Even in a sea of shit, there will be at least a few pearls.

So that kind of addresses the whole "generic plot blah blah" thing.

I could never hate a whole medium, especially not one Hayao Miazaki works with. Castle in the Sky? Nausicaa from the valley of the winds? Those things are epic.

Saying you outgrow anime is like saying you outgrow live action movies. Sure, a whole lot of modern ones are absolute shit. But that doesn't mean that there aren't any good movies - there are plenty of movies in the past just about anyone can like (because, y'know, it's pretty subjective when it comes to judging things) and there's enough reason to expect to see at least something good in the future.

I only watch anime which entertain me. If I find a series boring, I just stop watching it. I think that anime is just as competent to carry a message as several other mediums - it just needs to be done right.

I'd also claim that there's anime better than any other kind of animated series which has its origin in either Europe or North America. Some anime-creators have simply understood the way it is supposed to be done.

I never go for the long never-ending soap-opera-like series *cough*Naruto*cough*.
