I love that song. 'Delilah' (by them) is a downer, too. |

That was a thing that should never happen. Also, kudos for No Quarter. Good song, I'd go with that for a depressing song. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1243 Joined: 25 Sep 2008 | Its all in Norwegian, but its basically about a man (referred as 170, a non-voluntary soldier) who goes off to war and thinks about his family back home. And how amazed he feels like his 6 months of service have weighed on him. Then he gets his last orders to run into danger to check to see if the enemy is cleared out. And order he says he does not want to follow and begs his officers to look after his family. Then goes off and never reports back. so its left ambiguous to his fate |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 557 Joined: 1 May 2009 | I've heard "Gloomy Sunday" by Billie holiday has been labeled the most depressing song in the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48cTUnUtzx4 just the tag line of the "Hungerian suicide song" hints at how depressing it is. |

Apparently the chord progression from Pancho and Lefty are designed to make it more depressing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nExP9PKOnPs |

Anonymous Source Posts: 4 Joined: 3 Aug 2009 | I think this song is a really depressing song. Especially if you have watched the movie (Grave of the fireflies). I felt real depressed after watching that movie. Most of the time I am not a big fan of this kind of movies (war and/or drama), but I found this one really good. Also many songs of Enya make me feel depressed. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3129 Joined: 19 Mar 2008 | That song is more depressing if it's sent to you by the only girl you want by your side and she lives over a hundred miles away... Listening to that song now, I quite like it :) |

On topic; Led Zeppelin's No Quarter and Alice In Chain's Love, Hate, Love. The music and lyrics work perfectly together for the mood in both songs.
