No, they're the same all right. I too noticed those.
While i have no interest in the movie, its probably not the first or the last movie to recycle things from other movies in the studio library or anything already in the sampling library. It happens, no youre not amazing for pointing it out...go to youtube and do a quick search on it. Youll find a ton of videos on the subject.
ive seen other films that uses the sounds from jurassic park, its because they are really good sounds to use for creatures.
I didn't notice it and even if they did it doesn't make the movie any less awsome
I thought I heard the T-Rex. That was all I noticed though.
You need to give me your meds. I have yet to see the movie, but it isn't the first time things like sounds get recycled.
With all the money invested in that movie I highly doubt it.
My big bro said that one of the animals had the jurasic park sounds
Bet the a Wilhelm scream was in both somewhere Though I didn't notice the Jurassic Park sounds Off topic: I noticed Peter Jackson's King Kong used a Wilhelm scream, the more films I watch the more widespread I realise it is
most of the sound effects in films are reused thats why all frogs go ribbit ribbit when only 1 type of frog does that, and the gullotine noise is a decade or more old sound of someone chopping a cabbage in half
FYI I loved the movie...If anything it added more to the ambiance. There was a scene at the end when a guy gets squished that DESPERATELY needed the Wilhelm scream.
yep aswell as the little dash hound things that try eating him up at night. i think its good..becuase the whole movie is like a james cameron version of walking with fucking dinosaurs.
I'm pretty certain this kind of thing is common practice.
I don't know if it's worth mentioning but Cameron is also a big fan of Jurassic Park. He's listed it as the one film he wish he'd made but didn't.
I noticed them as well, but it's not like it detracts from how great the movie is.
this stuff happens all the time because its so much cheeper just to recycle old ones type in wilhelm scream compilation into youtube me thinks youl be plesently suprised
Cameron is so full of himself though. so. if everyone who ever watched jurassic park died except him, he'd definatly just say he made it. But then again, he could be like Michael Bay.
I only noticed the direhorse sounding like a velociraptor in the film. It was probably the only bad thing about the film, the story, characters and CGI more than made up for it.
Hollywood reuse everythign all the time. It saves money and time!
There were no Apatosaurs in Jurassic Park.
Stu beat me to it. Some of the sound tracks out there have been used for over seventy years by the film industry. Ever since they learned to put sound to film they have been reusing recorded sounds. Don't fault them, why go to all the expense recording all new sounds when the very same sounds are already recorded?
Many sounds have been re-used. Requiem for a Dream has been in every movie ever made it seems.
This I agree with. | |
yea i noticed this too, but it doesnt matter. i thought it was a great movie anyways!
Stuff like this happens all the time, just look at the Wilhelm Scream.
Well, I haven't seen Jurassic Park, so I didn't notice. But the animal noises sounded find and reasonable for the animals in question, so it didn't bother me at all.
Yep - when one of the RDA grunts is getting crushed by a crate full of explosives.
Ah good - I reckon they slip it in every major modern film somewhere, just to see if people notice
yup and this sample is actually from a track called Lux Aeterna I believe
Wilhelm scream, anyone? While most statistics are pulled out of the ass, especially this one, I wouldn't be that surprised if, say, 90% of all the sounds in games and movies are re-used... Since like the 30s. You know the pig sound from WC2? Yes, it's been every-fucking where with pigs - in movies, other games, and what not. Wilhelm scream... Shots... Generic karate attacks... And so on.
This happens all the time. Its not that big of a suprise. It was still a decent movie, so I don't mind.
You'd be surprised how often movie studios recycle assets... One of my favorite is the "Futuristic Door Opening Sound" which I'm fairly certain showed up in X-COM: UFO Defense first...
A lot of material from the movie came from ideas for the game during its development. The producer actually admitted this, so in my eyes it is essentially a movie based on a game, and those never turn out good. Has anyone seen the Street Fighter movie?
Recycling sounds is a concept far from original to Avatar, that said, it's kinda funny to see it happen.
Are you really so surprised? They've been using those sound effects for a long time for dozens of other movies--if not the techniques used to put them together. I have a friend who can splice together a REALLY rockin' T-Rex himself from sounds his puppy makes.

Was I the only one that noticed the dinosaur sound effects in Avatar. I've seen the movie twice and it's kinda nagging at me. Here's the list I've come up with so far.
The Hammerhead Things = Brontosaurus
Flying things = Baby T-Rex
Black Catlike Predator = T-Rex
Horse/Anteater Thing = Velociraptors
Did anyone else hear this or do I need to adjust my meds?
