Well, well, well, it seems for the "Untitled Batman Movie" To be released in what appears to be 2012, Leonardo Is in talks with producers...to play a completely different character than any other he has played before...
The Riddler...One of Batmans most famous enemies.
"Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Cher and Kate Beckinsale have all been linked to the possible revival of feline femme fatale Catwoman, while Shia LaBeouf, Johnny Depp and Eddie Murphy are also rumoured to be attached to the picture."
This was taken from one the articles...Dear lord...
Edit: Remembering this will be a Darker Riddler to the "Riddle me this" Riddler, I think it could turn out quite well. These movies have shown a Darker sides to all the characters. Joker is a prime example of this.
UPDATE: Just found this while searching for a Riddler Picture...has Jhonny Depp been confirmed for Riddler?
Just read this
"Producers are convinced that the role of The Riddler is perfect for Depp. Johnny's a pro. He'll be able to take direction and still make the character his own. And what better Penguin is there than Philip Seymour Hoffman?"
It also seems the penguin has been confirmed...although this could be another rumour as well.
Matt_LRR: Please do not let anyone mentioned in this post be associated with this film, (barring Leo - but he's not who I'd cast as the riddler at all).
-m
He could pull it off, he is quite a good actor...in my opinion anyway. it would show a completely different side to him.
Not many people would cast Heath Ledger as the Joker...but look how that turned out.

This.
Also, The Riddler? Surely, there are better villains left. I mean really? The Riddler? I can't express my distaste.
I, for one, hope that this information is a collection of lies and salamander slander.
I think if it was to be DiCaprio, it could turn out to be the same situation we had with Heath Ledger. Everyone groaned and grumbled that they were going to do a terrible job with The Joker, but the first time people saw footage of Heath Ledger in purple and green, they couldn't stop talking of how amazing it was.

Completely agree with this. i think we just need to wait and see how it turns out =)

The riddler is nuts, but dignified nuts. Knowing how he's played crazy in the past, I have a really hard time seeing Leo in the role, without having to re-envision how the riddler operates. He could do it, and I have have faith in Nolan, but he wouldn't be my pick.
Everyone else mentioned in the OP though, needs to fuck right off.

I doubt he would be the main villain, they would need to cast someone else for the film as well...
Bearing in mind that the Nolan interpretation of the Riddler is likely to be a far cry from "riddle me this, Batman" and green spandex covered in little question marks, I really think DiCaprio could pull it off. He's a very talented actor, and he's got the right sort of look.
And hey, if Heath Ledger could make such a convincing Joker, why not?

As said above i think this could be a Heath Ledger/Joker situation...everyone hated the idea, but turned out great.

I hope Killer Croc.
Nothing against Killer Croc, but I don't think I can see the guy as a leader of any kind of batman threatening gang. As a loner or a henchman, yes, but not something that could threaten Batman's core.

True i suppose, Mehh, Maybe Harley Quinn? getting revenge for Joker...that would be quite cool
Can't the third Batman film just be a live-action adaption of The Dark Knight Returns?
We could replace Christian Bale, whom I personally think makes an awful Batman[1] with someone else without having to handwave it, we could include a Robin[2], and it would be a plausible continuation of the ending from The Dark Knight, only slightly changing the script so it will seem like Batman retired after the death of Harvey Dent.
Because I honestly don't think they can make the third Batman film top the second one without taking it to new places. Sure, it might fall on its ass and fail, but I really prefer this idea, and I would love to see Nolan take some risks with this.
If anyone could make it happen in this day and age, it would be Christopher Nolan.
Half of the people you listed as possibly being attached were denounced a fair while ago. Chris Nolan would never cast Megan Fox for fuck's sake.
As for DiCaprio, he's a superb actor but I couldn't really 'see' him in the role. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (also in Inception) I can see as The Riddler though.
"Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Cher and Kate Beckinsale have all been linked to the possible revival of feline femme fatale Catwoman, while Shia LaBeouf, Johnny Depp and [b]Eddie Murphy[b] are also rumoured to be attached to the picture."
Blue-State: Johny Deep should be Riddler. I HAVE SPOKEN!
true, Depp would be the only guy that i would think of that can pull that sort of wonky insanity. i might even go so far as to say that he might make a good joker.

Other than the reimagining of the Joker I thought the second movie was slow and disappointing. Dent should have had 3rd degree burns instead of missing his skin. Batman thought the city would lose morale if a lawyer's actions were discovered but it would be fine with Batman the murderer. OT: I like Leo as Riddler especially considering what a great actor he's become. What scares me is the choices for catwoman.

Pretty much this. Johnny Depp was good, but he hangs out with Burton too much and has fallen into bad habits. The rest have pretty much always sucked. Still it's Nolan, and if anyone can make damn good movies, it's Nolan.
edit: Of course given Nolan's track record especially with the Ledger/Joker, and Leo never giving us a poor performance, I'm hopeful. Besides, Leo's roles have been getting a bit more crazy with each movie lately, perhaps this will be a new leaf for him.
Also, can I suggest Jackie Earle Haley play someone in this. Perhaps Zsasz or something, I don't care, I just want Jackie's brand of complete and utter psychosis.
Jim Carrey should be the Riddler, he is one of the best actors of all-time (very few could have a fight with themselves and make it seem believable), and did a good job as the Riddler before.

Don't you then think my idea makes even more sense?
Batman completely failed to see the flaw of his plan, and society becomes worse with him gone instead of improving. Utterly crushed by the knowledge that he's failed his promise to his parents, as well as having become the enemy of the city instead of its savior, he breaks down and gives up.

He has gotten older since then. I don't think Jim could pull it off now.

Ugh, I hated The Dark Knight Returns. Although that was mostly due to the horrible writing, art, and pacing, so Nolan might be able to fix it. Still, I doubt it'd work.

He isn't gone, it's just the police are chasing him now, as said at the end...he is an Outlaw.
But Leo could pull it off, it would be a bit different, but remember Heath Ledger *Gets Slapped*
Random guy: Try again! Everyone other post here has mentioned Heath Ledger as the Joker being a hit, TRY AGAIN!
Me: ...

Me: Leo could pull it off, I mean, if he manages to hit this role like, ermmm... someone who portrayed a Painted face psycotic clown did, we're in for a helluva movie!

I concur!! Heartily!!
Although Di Caprio may not be a bad idea... but then again... you don't want too many big, fat A-list names cluttering up the movie.
Cher?? Were they high when they came up with this rumour?
Good thing Christopher Nolan isn't a moron and will likely cast someone unlikely, but excellent.
