What are some laws that you guys disagree with?

All the ones that hinder humans being equal to humans.

it's not that simple. What kind of equality are you talking about? There is no such thing as just "equality".

The fact that you can legally own a tank, but not marijuana. Seriously.

Roughly 96.3% of them. If you live in a society where a profession can exist that does nothing but interpret the laws for the layman, then there is something horrendously wrong and that system should be immediately be replaced and changed.

Drug laws, there's no good reason to prohibit victimless actions that do not necessarily affect anyone other than the user.

In terms of legal ability, there should be. A women should not get leniency over a man, nor should a white over a black, a gay over a straight, or a jew over a christian. I should be able to marry any legal age consenting human, regardless of race, creed, gender, or orientation. I should get paid for the same work as any other, male or female or other. A pipe dream sure, but I prefer fantasy.

Damn. Ninja'd by the first post.

Specifically though? Probably the whole gay marriage debacle. (Not looking for a debate about this; just stating my opinion.)

Also, affirmative action is horribly outdated. I also disagree with weed criminalization.

Well, the former is a lot easier to accomplish than the latter (equal pay for equal work, for a number of reasons). I wouldn't call it a total pipe dream.

Every single one that has nothing to do with preventing other people from directly or indirectly harming me.
Because those ones are absolutely pointless and don't matter.

I don't like the mandatory seat belt laws. It's my body, let me put it through a windshield if I want to.

not a huge fan of drug banning, as it tends to make things worse not better.
also against the ban on same sex marrage, seeing as its a rather stupid inbalance.

The law that states that In Tennessee, you can't shoot any game other than whales from a moving automobile. Until recently, it was illegal to fish for whales off the coast of Oklahoma. Likewise in California, it is a misdemeanor to shoot at any kind of game from a moving vehicle, unless the target is a whale.

I still cant find the whales...

I'm not a fan of traffic laws that are obscurely hidden in a driver's manual when I DON'T DRIVE.

I like this, though really, I would think that a system that didn't have all these different codes would be easily swayed by rhetoric inste-*foot, meet mouth* :/

If you want to live in a world where drivers are considered automatically at fault for running your ass over, WALK IN THE DESIGNATED LINES AND AT THE DESIGNATED TIME.

Otherwise, good luck getting the health bills payed for when the court determines that you're at fault when you got your ass ran over.

...bitch

I've seen a truck fitted for the transfer of small whales. Does that make them fair game if you follow them into Tennessee from sea world?

The driver won't be responsible, I'll just be able to take my own risks, so don't you worry your pretty little head about it :)

Jeebus, we're so God damn predictable aren't we? I agree with all of those points.

Case in point, regarding 'affirmative action': (read: discrimination applied because apparently the sins of our forefathers are our fault) I considered applying to the Canadian police force and stopped my application because I was essentially told that as a white male I wouldn't get a look in. When we're entrusting our lives to people who've been selected not for their ability but because of the arbitrary facets of their being with which they happened to be born then we've got to accept that arbitrarily (obviously, a black aborigine and a white skinhead aren't equally suitable to be a community liaison to an aboriginal community) discriminatory recruiting needs to stop.

I also want to massively ramp up self defence laws so that ordinary MOPs can help us tackle crime.

That... is a good question. Time to go stalk some transfer vehicles!

The ones that say I gotta wear pants when I leave the house. What's up with that?

Yeah! Just like flatout!

We'd have to put completely unbiased people in control of...well, everything, but especially legislature.

Unfortunately, that would mean finding said completely unbiased people first. And good luck with that. (Hell, you'd probably need completely unbiased people to find the completely unbiased people to begin with.)

Sometimes, I think the human race just needs robot overlords. Did I say overlords? I meant protectors!

Prohibition of drugs laws, especially cannabis (not that I take it myself). Also, there is a law in the UK where a policeman can arrest you if he thinks you are about to commit a crime. This is fine if they think you re a terrorist, but I had a friend who was arrested for carrying a couple of permanent markers in London during the Royal wedding and a policeman thought he was about to do some graffiti - it means that policemen can arrest people based on political beliefs.

Basically, I believe that if there is a crime with no victim, there is no crime.

Also: Voting age at 18 is too high and it's also silly that if I were to have a girlfriend who is 15 and I have sex with her, her or her parents could sue me for child molestation even though I am only a few months over 16.

Mandatory military service.

FUCK OFF AND GET YOUR OWN ARMY COUNTRY!

Victimless crimes, especially when they don't even work as a deterrent. Marijuana (and possibly harder drugs) should be legal (but regulated - no selling to minors, for example). Why not establish a "drug consumption license"? If you can show that you know about the effects of the drug, then you are allowed to buy it. If not, sorry, still illegal (and I would totally include tobacco and alcohol).
Laws against incest accomplish nothing (nothing wrong with consensual incest and there are other laws for when it's not consensual), same goes for suicide (and euthanasia - again, regulated but legal).
[Edited out just to be on the safe side - making and promoting child porn should still be (and is) illegal.] On a related note, porn that doesn't involve real people should not be illegal (doesn't matter if it's guro, lolicon or whatever).

I also don't like prisons. For minor offences they're not very helpful ("Let's put the lowly pickpocket in the same room as a couple of experienced burglars. What could go wrong?") and for major offences they are not enough to change people for the better. I also dislike capital punishment.

Also, affirmative action and not enough secularization.

And although it's not a law - region codes.

Age of military enlistment- 18, legal age to drink alcohol- 21. This doesn't make sense to me. You can fight and die for your country but only more mature adults are allowed to drink.

The ability to own certain arms, it's kinda against the constitution because our government was set up on the thought that if the government is doing something wrong and won't listen the civilians should be able to do something. Even if it is the whiskey rebellion.

Incest.

I think incest should be perfectly legal.

Watching child porn shouldn't be a crime as well.

Not only is that horrendously disgusting, it is against the forum rules to talk about in any way, shape or form.

I suggest you edit your post.

30 mph speed limit and 70mph on motorways. The RIP bill (right to info privacy) and the extreme laws granting police serious powers for "combating terrorism". That's about it for my own country. If I could talk about the USA, there'd be a very long list :-)

I don't really have any laws I 'disagree' with, I just keep to the philosophy of 'obey the law, unless the law is not worth obeying'.

Those longbow practice laws, longbow practice is painful and tiring. Also everytime I'm in York I keep giving my longbow to some Welsh guys then they keep getting murdered.

:(

While I stand by my opinion, editing my post is probably a wiser course of action. Though I don't know if disagreeing with a law counts as advocating certain behavior. But, oh well, let's play it safe.

Also, I'm not advocating whatever it is I could be advocating. A law is still a law.
