My dog just died...

I'm sorry for your loss, mate.

Lost one dog myself, though many years ago.

Lovely dog, trusty as could be, but unfortunately, as is common with German Sheperds, they are prone to hip problems. It got so bad that he wasn't able to walk properly.

Now though, we have two dogs, an Alaskan Malamute and a Siberian Husky.

I'm going back to see my folks today, and these two will be running me down the very moment I open the front door. I'm looking forward to that.

So, again, mate. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I know the sympathies of a total stranger probably isn't going to make you feel much better, but regardless, I'm sorry for your loss. She was a very beautiful dog.

I've been through a few family dogs in my short life. They were farm dogs, used for herding sheep, and farms are not safe places. Some got into fertilisers or poisons, while others were ran over. It never get's easier.

Right now my family has four dogs. One border-collie and three maltese shihtzus. The oldest of the maltese shihtzus, Rex, while originally meant to be the families dog, ending up being my dog once the two of us bonded. I'm currently studying at university and had to leave home, man I miss him so much, more than I miss my parents. And he misses me as well I'm told. He spent the days after I left at the door waiting for me, and since he slept on my bed, he didn't sleep for awhile. He has realised now that I won't be home often, but he still wonders into my room every now and again to try and find me.

I know your pain, Clarion.

Though for me, it was my cat whom I had for 12 years (I adopted her from my best friend's family shortly after I moved. They were getting a dog, and she was always so timid).

She was a very intelligent, loving kitty and didn't really behave like most cats I've seen or known. She died last summer.

After you have them for so long, they become a sort of family.

You have my sympathies.

He just died last october, he was a black poodle, mini toy, or at least that's what I think my sisters told me when they bought him. He was already pretty old (13 years) and I'm really glad he lasted for so long, he was so old that his black fur was already gray, but that color tone was pretty cool for him, like a well aged gentleman. This picture is pretty old, but he didn't changed one bit after that photo was taken. We loved him a lot and he was very loving too.

If I could describe him with one word, it would be puppy, because no matter how old he was, even in his last few months before he parted, he still looked and acted like a spoiled puppy. Despite of being so spoiled, he was pretty smart too, I had many surprises with him through the years. Sometimes, whenever his "mother" (one of my sisters) scolded him, he always seeked me out afterwards and I stroked him.

I don't regret one bit with him, I loved him and he loved me, I gave him everything a dog could possibly wish for, he never went through one single day of starvation and I never treated him bad. He was easily one of the best friends I could've wished for. I still miss him sometimes.

That's a fine looking dog.

Apart from my first dog, which was a spaniel, we've always had short haired dogs.

One day I will have a dog with an awesome moustache. Maybe a Westy.

Damn, put a monacle and top hat on that guy and the world would explode from the awesome.

*internet hug*

Sory to hear.
It's always a pain when a pet leaves you.
I got a rat, thought it wouldn't be such a big deal, damn I was down when that little bastard left me.
Felling your pain from Finland!
R.I.P.

It's always sad to hear when anything dies. Especially when it's the dog of the most awesome british person on this site!

Well since were all doing it, I'll share what my dog looks like. It's a little whippet called Lily. Whippets are basically a smaller version of the greyhound, not much fur and they look very skinny. But they are the easiest dog breed to look after, one 20 minute walk a day and there nackered out. It's amazing!

Twas the only good one I could find. There's one of her in a santa hat and scarf which the cuteness is so much!

That's what I've always like about Greyhounds and Whippets, they practically run themselves, very low maintenance.

And thanks, I am the most awesome British person on this site. Hell, I may be the most awesome person in history.

I deserve a Nobel Prize.

Oh dear. I'm very sorry for your loss.
I remember when our dogs died, it's never easy. I hope she passed quietly and without pain.
Again, my condolences.

Really sad, I used to have dogs when I was younger. One of them was the nicest thing on earth. I never knew him because I had him for the first 2 years of my life, but he would come in every night from what I've heard and tuck my twin and I in. We gave him away 12 years ago. Probably dead now, but I know that he had me in his mind always.

Sucks, mate. I hope that your emotional loss doesn't burden you too long and that you always celebrate the good memories you shared with her, instead of beating yourself up over the bad ones.

My corgi hasn't been too hot as of late. I took him in due to a mild front-leg limp in December and, after miss-diagnosed arthritis, found he had a form of elbow displacea since birth. This wasn't what bothered me - I can pop his elbow back into place if it ever goes out - it was that they found a mild neurological problem with his back foot on the second exam. I have to save up for lower back x-rays in case it gets worse. He's only nine and the vet said, after the first x-rays, that he looks remarkably healthy for a dog that age. Turns out he has no arthritis at all. And he still runs around a ton. His weight is also great. It's just that one back leg and lack of feeling there-of.

sorry. Id give you the futurama scene with seymor but i feel its either been posted or just inappropriate.

Makes me think of my dog, who died more peacefully than we though he would (seeing as he was an ex dog fighting ring dog). he died in his sleep, which was about the best he could wish for since he made it his lifes mission to pick a fight with just about every animal that walked into the yard

Nothing really to do but stick your chin out and up and keeping moving foward.

Mine got run over, it broke her pelvis and we couldn't afford the surgery so we had have her put down.

Im extremely sorry for your loss, she really was an adorable dog :). I have a Welsh Corgi and a Dashund and i just fear the day that one of them will have to go. So, i feel your pain, stay strong.

*Internet friendly pat on the back*

Here's my list of dead pets:

2 cats
1 mouse and 2 gerbils
2 dwarf frogs
2 hermit crabs
and about 50 fish.

Currently have 2 cats, one is young the other is old.

I hope she's happy where she is now.

Yeah, I remember when I lost my cat. Her name was Gidget. She was old, had issues with her back, and we had to put her down. I still remember the last time I saw her was her resting under our redwood tree in our front yard.

Today, I have my two long haired chihuahuas. I really love the two, and I think I'd completely lose it if either of them passed away.

Sorry to hear that, and hope you're feeling alright.

I've had a cat for around two months now...

...and I already don't know what I'd do if anything happened to him.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I lost my dog last year and it still hurts sometime. We had him for almost 14 years too. *internet hug*

Snip

Sorry to hear that :( Last time i lost a treasured pet i was a lot younger and i can hardly remember it. But my current dog is getting older and only as a few years if that left, so i've begun taking a lot more photos of her to keep her memory after she's gone.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a pet can be pretty traumatic, especially when you're young.
I've lost 2 birds, three hamsters, and god knows how many fish.
Hamsters really are the worst, they tell you that they have a life span of close to four years but in reality most don't live much past 2, which means you have to relive the heartache much more frequently than with other pets. They're still wonderful pets though, especially if you live in an apartment or other small area.

Sucks man, and the way I see it, best way to get over it is to think happy stuff :D

This is a really strange thread to necro.

Did you search dead dogs or something?

o_O

Kudos for noticing that, I didn't remember :s

My condolences. My pup got hit by a car while following me to the store. Turned around and saw it happen. Wanker didn't even stop. Safe to say carrying my dogs corpse back to my house was one of the least liked moments of my life.

R.I.P. Rosie.

That sucks :( Sorry to hear that man :(

Reviving threads linked into the past. Funny how sometimes necromancy works huh? Didn't happen with my thread at the start of this one though.

This is actually happening?

A thread about my dead dog is getting necro'd?

This would be sad if I didn't find it so hilarious :D
