4RM3D:
I would like for my parents show to at least a little bit of creativity, but at the same time don't go all out.

I'm personally very happy my parents didn't decide to get creative. I have a very boring, very common name, which means it doesn't give people any preconceptions about me. (They're likely to know at least five people with my name already!)

A very neutral name gives me the freedom to be whoever I want, rather than the person I sound like I should be. *serious nod*

I like my name. Not too common, not oo extravagant

It could be worse, but its quite ordinary, common, and has 2 of the apostles in it for some reason.

I'd rather have something else, but meh it doesn't bother me enough to change it.

Mortai Gravesend:
Eh, I don't really like my name. It's just too bland for my tastes.

Kinda funny though, apparently my first name has to do with strength, my middle to do with manliness and courage. I kind of dislike people's admiration of those first two traits and of the third when people put intellect and the like second to it -__-

I'm ambivalent about my first name, "Jack". On one hand, it means God's gracious gift, which irks me as an atheist. On the other hand, it means rogue or knave, which is kind of awesome.

My last name being "Binns" has led to many obvious jokes, but it's an old family and if the old lordships still existed, as the most direct descendant (and I still reside in the actual area) I'd be the heir to our seat of power.

Meh.

Could be worse, I guess. My name is only one syllable, and nickname-free, so I can imagine worse. But there are lots of cooler names out there, so all I can do is admire those from a distance...

Im happy with my first name, and my family name is my fathers legacy and so Ill carry it for him...all I wish is that I was given a middle name.

In a series of hilarious and WTF situations, I've been informed by a friend's family that "Spencer" is a name that only gay people have. -_-

Other than that, I quite like it.

Well, to pick a nit here, the name your parents gave you is not 'your real name'. It is just the name your parents gave you. What you choose to go by is your real name if you want it to be. Sorry, it's a bit of an annoyance for me... One of the questions transgender people get asked a lot is 'So what's your REAL name' when fishing for what you used to be called... Implying or outright stating that your identity is fake.

That said, I never liked my birth name and I had it legally changed. I was (emotionally, mentally) abused by my father my entire life. And he is the one who picked my first name, his first name was my middle name (family tradition) and of course, I had his last name. Which was long and nobody ever pronounced it right. Plus I always had a disconnect with my first name... People would call it trying to get my attention and I would just not connect it to me.

So when I had a chance, I had my name legally changed, all three parts. And I am very happy with that, my real name.

Meh, my name is Jonathan, so it feels somewhat annoyingly common (and yet people could never spell it right on cards, even though I think my variant of the name is the most recognisable).

It would be far more fun if my last name was Smith, because then John would become my favourite shortening.

Both me and my brother's names were chosen because they mean "Gift from God", even though my parents are not at all religious. I think that's a good meaning, but it seems a bit unfortunate that it comes from common names.

If I ever get into a position where I'm well-known I'd probably rather be known by my username. The idea of people calling me by a name I chose, using the shortening "Pala", sounds nice and friendly, as if I'm everyones friend.

My name is kind of "meh", but after having had it for such a long time any more awesome name that I chose just wouldn't feel like me, so it wouldn't really make sense to change. So I'm going with "could be worse".

The only problem I have with my name (Jack) is that when I'm at college I will hear the name and assume they're talking to me.

James Rocker
Not too bad I think :p

I really like my name, and while it was a bit of a pain growing up with, I have nothing against it now. I'm Catherine shortened to Catie, which led to me being "Catie with a 'C'" through-out elementary school and Jr High. And whenever I go to a new doctor or something like that I have to say "Catie.. no, with a C". Amusingly, I've met a handful of Catherines like me while working the cash register at work, and it always makes me smile. When I have to pipe Katie on a cake, however, I usually give a little shudder.

I currently work with a Katie in my department, but we're known as 'Katie 1' and 'Catie 2' in speaking.

My last name is just ethnic enough (Sicilian) that people butcher it constantly. But, it was a good way to judge if a caller was someone who knew my family or was a telemarketer before the advent of Caller-id. Again, it was annoying in school with those first role calls. ".. It's pronounced like this, Sir."

Side note, I finally met someone whose name is my favorite name ever, Antigone. I saw that pop up on my register and I had to gush for about 5 minutes to this elderly lady about how much I loved that name and the play that shares it. She was happy about that though. .. Damn, why didn't I ask what her nickname is?

I'm not just happy with my name, I'm proud of it;

I was named after a cousin from my dad's side of the family who died when he pushed his girlfriend out the way of a car driven by a drunk driver.

no. i have the same name of my father, whom i love.
i go by a different first name, but it's just a cultural translation of my original name. as far as i'm concerned, it's the same name.

Tommi, or Tommy, if you feel like being international.

I don't really like it. It could be worse, of course, but it just sounds so... I don't know, lame? Well, that's just me though

got an old family name which basicly means "man of the house" or "warrior of the house" so I am quite happy with it

My name is a (mild)swear word in French, which is annoying because I live in a French speaking area. Francophones a lot of times will looked shocked when I introduce myself so I have to be very careful to pronounce it with an exaggerated English accent.

My last name is a lot of fun because it's Irish and is really hard to pronounce in French and it comes out sounding hilarious. Love it!...Also it means something like "Ruler of the Clan"

Yes, I love my name. It makes everyone who hears it for the first time always smiles or even laughs in joy as they clap their hands in excitement.

Happiness to the people :)

no, not really, Kristoffer has some christian meaning and my last name is ok i guess

Don Savik:
I like being Bret because there aren't many Brets around were I live. Like......none at all, and if there are its spelled 'Brett' <--da fuq is this shit? What's the extra T for? To look fancy? Fuck that shit.

My middle and last name could use a change though.

brett is norwegian for "board" so... you're a board i guess.

Daniel, meaning "attractive" in its original gaelic... everything seems to be in order here, also they can sing danny boy at my funeral, so theres also that

My family name comes from Caramon and Raistlin Majere themselves! Bless my nerd parents!
Oh, and Xaio is good enough. People still need me to pronounce it for them though.

I've got a boyish name while I'm a girl, but I really don't know what name I would like instead of the one I have.

I like my name, not only is it one that isn't used very often, but as far as I know i'm the only one in at least the Ayrshire/Starthclyde sector of Scotland.

Firstly i'll give my name in it's most basic spelling = Jared.
Now here is the spelling of Jared my parents gave me which i think is pretty cool = Jarryd

I couldn't care less to be honest. It's not a name that it was possible to tease with so it's decent. I mean seriously, my name doesn't matter at all. I don't know a name I would rather have, nor am I displeased or pleased with the one I got.

I can't complain about my name, it's bland and can't be made fun of, but it's not exactly interesting.

The name 'William' is very distinguished, as well as very English. I very much like it.

Fluffythepoo:

Daniel is my name too - pretty decent as far as names go, in my opinion. I was under the impression it meant "God's judge" though (which is strange as I'm hardly religious). Probably just different translations, although I prefer the gaelic meaning. My last name is even an Irish one, so I can make that work.

Although at least it's better than my sister's name, to be fair. She has the name of a very famous male movie character's last name (she isn't named after him or anything though) that leads to some annoying nicknames.

Eh, could be worse, If anything I take more umbrage with my last name. I suppose my first name (Lloyd) is somewhat uncommon, at least being more idiosyncratic than something like Jack or Tom (seriously I knew like 8 people called Tom in secondary school) so I guess that's something. If I were to change anytihng, I'd wish for an alliterated full name, those are awesome. :D Though at any rate, it hardly matters, it's a pretty trivial aspect and people get used to names so it doesn't bother me that much.

Meh its a name, so be it, doesnt sound to bad....

Seeing as my parents briefly considered naming me Rory, it could be a lot worse.
I voted yes though because I've always rather liked my name and I've never really wanted to change it.

It could be worse.

My name is Robert which is named after my grandfather & uncle, but I usually just go by Rob or, to certain friends, Bob, Bobert or Rawrb.

Kyle = very similar to a famous female singer from Aus, which meant I was called Kylie a lot by teachers and kids in school.

Robert = my dads name, I hate that prick

McAllister = never spelled correctly! I have had McCallister, McAlister, McAllistar and any mix of them, for example McCalistar.

Yeah, I fucking love my name ...

I've come to terms with it. Used to hate it and was going to switch to going by my middle name (Ryan) in College. Went to a college where no one from my hometown went, and no one was planning to so I could have a completley new Identity. However, my dorm floor already had 3 Ryans. So I kept my bizarre first name which is just 3 letters you wouldn't normally see or try and pronounce together. At least I've never needed a nickname.

p.s. I won't type it here, sorry. It is almost unique, and I don't use it online because I could easily be identified by it.

I am indifferent... It is just a name after all, just an identification for others. I do not like it, nor do I hate it.

However I am thinking of changing my name to something that identifies me for me... I am thinking Applejack And Dovahkiin for my middle names, as my first name and surname, I have no idea so far.
