Denied to the Prom

Ah, the prom. Where boys will ask that lucky girl to go with them and hope they will be their date. That is, unless you are a porn star.

According to the Huffington Post, 17 year old Mike Stone had asked porn stars via Twitter to attend his high school prom. He recieved repsonses from Megan Piper and Emy Reyes after nearly 600 tweets, provided he pay for the airfare (approx. $400). Megan Piper was going to be his lucky date, but now the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District in Minnesota says she cannot attend any prom in their district, warning that they will arrest her if she comes. The reason:

The rules state that the district has the right to deny any person admission to a school-sponsored event if the visit is not in the best interest of students, employees or the school district, or if it substantially disrupts the orderly operation of school or school activities

I, personally, believe that he should be allowed to go to the prom with her, despite her background.

Do you think she should be allowed to go to the prom?

If he didn't mention the fact that his date was going to be a porn star...
Let the moron be denied, if he's seriously willing to pay 400 bucks to fly a pornstar over for a high school prom he has other serious issues that need addressing.

$400.....

Half that and i'll send him my sister.

Sorry but I got to say dammm! He must of been desperate to pay for a porn star to be his date.

As for the topic I would of think it could of work as long no one recognise her however he and she would of raise suspicion anyway (seeing a student with a really hot date who you never seen before would of raise alot of questions).
Overall I'm fine that it's denined as he clearly got some issue to deal with (or he was that horny or desperate).

As long as she's not attending in unacceptable attire, there is no reason she should be denied. It "causing a disruption" is just a bullshit excuse for them having the socially conservative stick up their ass.

Yea he should of kept his mouth shut, but lets be honest what teen does? I remember when I was a teenager... yea lets not go there.

They still are going to hang out, pose for pictures n stuff. So I guess thats something.

KingWein22:

I'm actually not sure what I think of this!

On one hand, it seems unfair to ban her on the grounds of a legal profession. (incidentally and off topic: how is it that porn is legal but prostitution isn't? Makes no sense. They should just legalise both)

But then on the other hand, schools do have the right to decide who attends social events, and I can see how a pornstar attending a youth event would bring the school into disrepute. Additionally, since not everyone there is legally an adult, the school does have a duty of care which could possibly be broken in this situation.
Also, once there's a precedent for this kind of thing it opens the door to it happening frequently, which wouldn't be ideal. Renting a date does kind of send the wrong message and is frankly a little demeaning to women. (I know that's a slippery slope argument, and I'm sorry! It is relevant though)

The school is going to get in hot water either way. Parents will pull their kids out if she's allowed in, and liberals will go apeshit if she isn't.

Yeah, they are pretty much damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Megan Piper? Never heard of here. To pornhub!

No really though, thats a little gross. Imagine going to prom with someone when you know that person has been gangbanged on camera several times.

Haha, fair play for trying, though it is a little sad :P And yea, they should just have the guts to say what their problem is with her going, instead of making up trumped up charges. Also, sure I think she should be allowed go, just so his plan can backfire when she is bought out from under him by a mate :)

Sorry, should they allow him to bring a hooker? Why yes that is perfectly reasonable...

*googled her name* Well now with her under my arm I certainly wouldn't waste time on prom, I'm thinking they did him a favor there.

By desperate you mean awesome, right?

Yeah, I can see why a porn star at the prom would be inappropriate. Also, I'd much rather ask a woman out than pay a whore $400 for it. I mean, how many dates actually cost that much?

Desperate for attention, I'd say. Seriously, it's not an "awesome" thing to do, and if I had a kid and he blew 400 bucks on something like that I'd take some disciplinary measures.

I don't really care about what they do with his prom, but seriously, just for trying to go for "LOL a porn star was my prom date, I'm so awesomely fabulous" he deserves to be slapped around a bit with a large trout. (bonus points for recognizing this)

Honestly? Their motivation; I don't agree with. Their decision? Yes. Flying in people for 400$ so you can prom date somebody you never met? Buy bubblegum for the cash and bring a girl who's native to the area, sayeth I.

I know, right? I wouldn't do it, but the kid's got balls for asking. They need to stop castrating kids and let them have their sans-permit tea stands and porn star prom dates.

I must be unclear on what exactly a prom is, but shouldn't the fact that she isn't a student automatically exclude her anyway? Isn't prom a celebration of graduation?

Yeah, but most proms (atleast the UK ones we seem to have imported) allow students to bring a girl/boyfriend to it if they aren't from the school.

Balls. On Twitter? Now, had he sent an actual mail or called, I might have been willing to believe that, but tweeting is something else, and I don't see how it takes more "balls" than knocking over a dustbin in Shaftsbury.

I don't care that she's a porn star.
I do care that he effectively paid her attend the prom with him.
Besides using a porn star mass tweet campaign to find a date to the prom sounds a little desperate.

Now if she actually WAS his girlfriend, then he would have balls.

From the way the OP is worded, it's likely just the reason that she's famous (and deny it or not, Porn Stars are known about by 16-19 year old boys). So she's denied access for the same reason Tara Strong would be denied access. Famous person = Mob of Fans.

Good call on the school's part not because a porn star should not be allowed to attend but because so much money and effort should not be wasted on such an endeavour.

Take a local girl instead, pal. You can get yourself drunk off 3 beers, throw up in a urinal, fumble awkwardly with your date's bra, enjoy your 3 minutes at third base and 10 years down the road, you can remember that prom was not all it's cracked up to be.

How about the kid does something normal and actually asks one of the girls his own age to prom? I know that's a wild idea, but I think it usually works for most people.

Edit: It also depends on how old she is because I know my school had an age limit on who could attend prom. But seriously that kid would do nothing, but regret it the rest of his life. Especially if there is actually a real girl at school he would like to take, but is too nervous to ask. Instead he opts to take a sexual object to prom with him and not a real girl.

Eh, I think that the fact people knew about it is what makes it likely that it will be disruptive. If a bunch of kids at prom know someone's going to have a porn star date I can see it potentially being disruptive to the event.

I mean, how old is this porn star? I know in my county that I went to high school in, you couldn't invite anyone age 21 or older to prom. I realize that they are probably denying her because of her profession, but she probably can't attend for other reasons.

I'm Irish and my school's debs was the same.

That said if I was the principle I would exclude her the fuck out of it. She's a porn star and this is a semi-school event, it just looks bad. If the kid paid her to go to a bar with him, then it doesn't matter but the publicity attached to this makes it something you don't want to be associated with.

edit

You guys are confusing me. :I

When that MW3 gaming night came up with thousands of people attending- people got up in arms about a Porn Star being rejected to attend because of her background despite that she got an invitation first hand. But the same thing happens (not exactly but similar) and no one really minds that a Porn Star is denied entry now.

Come now, it's discrimination on the school's part just like the ME3 live event. I understand the school's concern but she's not going to do anything reckless really. She's well known and most likely going to behave at prom plus since the guy was willing to pay $400 he might as well take her out on a date to make up for prom. I'd rather have that anyways, prom is alright but to dramatic for most folk these days if they don't got a date *shrug*.

KingWein22:

No, and it has nothing to do with her. Do you have any idea what an uproar that would cause? The kid who asked her looks like a social outcast, the sneering and snickering from the students would be ridiculous, it would likely take away completely the aspects of the prom from everyone else, you'd have angry parents threatening law suits, a school district that doesn't want negative attention will get it, the representatives are facing reelection this year and don't need this on their plate, etc... I suppose it sort of has to do with her background, but the school district itself probably doesn't actually give a crap about it... just the consequences of it.

Kid's a legend, she's nice for saying "yes". Whole thing is very funny.

Sort of this too.

I think Justin Bieber would be denied too.

what's this? moral knighting shit about someone's relation to sex? why am I not surprised
although I would've totally invited Mandy Morbid, but sadly, we don't have that type of proms in my region

SmashLovesTitanQuest:

ROFL. Is it bad that I thought the exact same thing?
OT: Nah, I don't think a 17 should ask a porn star to the prom. It just seems offputting to me. He really should just ask a girl his age, failing that, ask his cousin like every other dude who can't get a date to the prom does.

Sorry but it's exactelly the same thing that hiring an escort to the prom, it should not be allowed

What? Sneering and snickering at others is what high school is all about.
