ESCAPIST!

So, here I am after a long day of College...and I've made my customary tea and crumpets cos I'm a serious Brit.
I love tea. Tea is amazing. I drink a few cups a day. Yom.
It's like smoking; when you're stressed and just need a few, precious moments to yourself...stick the kettle on and...oh it's glorious.
I'm also a fan of specialist teas, like the ones I listed in the poll above. STUFF'S GOOD, MAN!

So yeah, just curious what your opinions are on the delicious brew. You a fan? How do you like your tea? Drink it often? Or...have you simply never tried it before?!

Let's talk tea, Escapist. Enjoy your weekends.
The hyperbole is strong in this one. Still. Friggin' love tea.
And word on the street is that I should fear Daystar. I'M SORRY BRO I LOVE YOU.

Right now im in the all tea is vile camp. I used to drink a lot of it when I lived in England, and I loved it, but I guess I "grew out of it", if you get what I mean.

The again, it might be because tea in Britain is high quality while they only sell piss in Germany. I dunno.

Just give me a glass of water.

Well, being Irish, my blood is pretty much 50% tea, 50% alcohol. I love all kinds of tea, but you can't beat a good mug of traditional tea, with a little bit of milk and a tea spoon of sugar :) (ps: this thread seems somewhat similar to Daystar's ones on biscuits, branston and pancakes. Was this intentional or coincidental??)

Haha I didn't know that tea was big in Ireland! Fair enough, nice one>:].
And bah, is it? I haven't been on here much of late so I didn't see it>< hopefully it's not too similar? Gah><;;.

Haha, well I don't know if it's still true, but Ireland used to have the most cups of tea a day per capita in Europe. We're big on tea (to be sure *said in stereotypical Irish accent)
And don't worry, he never did one on tea so it doesn't matter, just brought them to mind is all, wondered if you were a fan of his food threads too :)

No option for liking a few or different type of tea? I mean the only type of tea I had so far are British, Chinese and Iced tea. Now I think about it, it has been a hell of a long time since I had Ice tea! (I only had those went I went to America on holiday which was many years ago!)

English Breakfast, Two bags, Two Sugars, down the old hatch. Screw those poncey Tea's Americans drink like camomile, or something. No, they are not worthy of the sacred Yellow stained teeth that us British have.

...I also like Limpton's Ice Tea, but I haven't had it in years.

Yeah I know:/ I mean there's only so many options the poll could have so I thought it'd be best to keep things simple, eh><.

Two bags? You absolute machine. People like you make me proud to be British<3.

RIGHT, need to stop commenting on my own thread.

I just started drinking tea for the first time a couple months ago. But only the expensive fancy crap from Teavana. I am very picky.

Yep, and left in the cup to brew for a good two minutes, until strong and rich. I've even got a huge brown mug for these bad ass drinks.

If you don't do it Hardcore like, then don't do it all, that's what my mum taught me (or was it me I forget).

I wonder if anyone can handle a three, or even four bag tea, I know even Chuck Norris himself would spit that out.

Tea, tea, tea, I love tea!

Yorkshire tea, earl grey, peppermint, white, gunpowder, pennyroyal, and darjeeling!

Fuck sake I said I wouldn't comment again:P. Been meaning to try gunpowder but I haven't seen it anywhere:( how is it?

It's a green tea, so really refreshing. If you do get some makes sure it's fresh, any gunpowder tea sold ready bagged (or in tea bags) has normally dried out too much. Gunpowder tea is rolled into small pellets which keeps it fresher and less likely to dry out as fast.

I know too much about tea!

Bah... despite being British, I can't stand any tea that can be traditionally prepared with milk... or any of those jasmine/camomile fad teas in the west.

This is the only tea I'm drinking (for the last six months-ish):

What is that monstrosity, I hear you shriek. That, my friends, is chrysanthemum tea, and requires not leaves, but whole flowers for a fine brew.

Haha, I warned the OP already that this was Daystar's style, but hey, if Daystar is so British, why has he not made a tea thread already??? *hides quickly and apologises for doubting the mighty Daystar*

I can only stomach regular tea, no sugar, bit of milk.
I have tried some of the flavoured stuff though. One that stick in mind was pineapple and grapefruit tea, which was just awful. Give me proper tea over that anytime.
Now, to get myself a cuppa brewing...

I'm a huge tea fan, my recent favourite it vanilla white tea, but I'm usually drinking English breakfast or just plain old black tea. Oh and tea with Valerian in it to calm me down and help me sleep.
Traditional tea is a little better than specialist in my own opinion though. I always find that the majority of specialist is a little bland.
Oh and God bless ice tea. Especially peach ice tea.

yeah i like tea, though lately i've only been drinking green tea and ice tea.

putowtin:

You can never know too much about tea... though I'm all for pu'erh, cheng etc. etc. Even Korean teas, though they put some weird stuff in it.

Anyway, now I finally get what 'gunpowder' tea's about...

I know, it's amazing how he has amassed this little army of his :)

OT: there are some pretty decent South African teas out there that are worth trying too.

I enjoy all kinds of tea, mostly hot tea. Not that fond of iced tea.
I have a slight caffeine allergy though so tea is something I am not supposed to drink like water unless it is low in caffeine or caffeine-free.

I really love putting just a teaspoon of honey in it...

...off to go make tea now.

I have to say i love all tea, if it is not alcoholic it is likely tea that I am drinking it has been my gift for Christmas an birthday for several years running and is fairly cheep (for the most part) as well as preserved so it can honestly last me almost half a year from gifts.

This along with the fact that caffeine is the life blood of nerds likely means it will be my most consumed beverage by a factor 30.

The question is what to do with bad tea and i have come up with a rather fun solution. Vodka! yes my leas favorite liquor is perfectly suited on taking on other flavor as it has nearly none of it own and is dirt cheep. Just drop crappy tea in till it taste kinda good and hoary you can feel good about having not needing to tell your friend his taste in beverages sucks ass.

well since I'm a male the only "tea" i will drink is of the Long Island variety...

I love tea. *sip* Especially black and green teas. Iced tea is good, too... but a rarity.

Pff, real men are unafraid to drink whatever tea they fancy.

Love me some Tea. Had about 5 today so far.

One Cups do it for me, not able to splash out on 'decent' tea any more. Milky with either two sugars or two sweeteners, not fussed!

My favourite has to be typical English breakfast tea, made with milk and two sugars. :3

it is the thing that separates us from the french... and yes the rules are very strict but holders of the card are legally allowed to be belligerent assholes and still run the known world... so the benefits far outweigh the cost

There wasn't a "I like most tea" option so I voted for all tea. Except for a few types of herbal tea like redbush I like most tea if the occasion is right. For general purpose tea I usually go with Yorkshire tea and sometimes Assam. Darjeeling is nice and light and good on a hot day along with some herbal teas.
