chickenhound: wasnt really all that big on the orgainal show but but I want to know is as Aan g was the last person of the air bending tribe does that mean that now his son is the only one now and that bending comes from genetics or have more popped up sences the first series?
It looks like Aang had around 3 kids, but Tenzin is the only one we've seen so far, and he's the only airbending master out there, which doesn't make him the only airbender just the only master. Tenzin has 3 kids and they can all airbend, plus there's an air temple sanctuary which I would assume has airbenders on it as well. And yes I think it has to do with genetics but I'm not entirely sure how.
NightHawk21: So for those of you that may or may not know, Avatar: the last airbender is getting a sequel of sorts starring the next avatar, a water tribe girl named Korra. Anyways the first episode has a release date of April 14th, but it is already available online (I don't know if I'm allowed to post the link, but you know some smart googling should find it).
To avoid any spoilers I will say that the episode is interesting, but weird in that the setting is vastly different than from the original series. Still its a good episode and I'd recommend it to any of you guys that liked the original series.
Anyways if you watch it post your thoughts, but keep spoilers in spoiler boxes.
My descendants will sing your name to the heavens during the festival of infinity. Thank you for tipping me off that the episode is out.
Pleased to see it still has excellent animated body language and comic pacing, I love a show that can make me laugh out loud from a character's expression pulled at the right time. X)
I like how they've gone in to the industrial age, plus the

means that there's already enough new in the world that it's not going to be too much of the same of the last series, which I had been worried might happen. And it seems like they've grown with their audience as well which is good, with Korra being a few years older than Aang and more serious themes like

aba1: Anybody else want to strangle that kid when she interrupted the story about Zuko's mother.
Haha, my boyfriend (who hasn't seen all of Legend of Aang so didn't know what the deal was until I explained after) said that I had tensed up and leaned forward when Katara began to answer... They're such teases. Hopefully it'll be explained later as they obviously know what a big deal it is to the fans, I heard Zuko's son should be in it at some point.
Scarim Coral: It was mention in some epilouge of some sort (currently there is a Avatar comic of Team Avatar after the show had ended) that Aang had discovered a new colony of Air Bison and Air Lemur. These two are a new species compare to Appa and Momo (they had different pattern/ marking on their fur).
Ooooh, I don't suppose you could direct me to said comic? Or is there no legit online source...
It was cool to seem some call backs to old characters, and even some cameos. I was just sad to find out that Sokka was dead. He would have made an awesome "old man" character.
It was also interesting to see that metal bending had become a legitimate form of bending, and not something that only Toph could do. Really opens up a lot of possibilities with the steampunkish setting.
The only thing that I'm a little concerned about is the fact that Korra's animal companion can't fly. The polar bear-dog is cool, but it's no Appa, or dragon, and the fact that it can't fly really limits Korra's mobility, which might mean that the majority of the show will only take place in one city. This would really be a missed opportunity to show how the rest of the world changed during the 80 year gap between the previous series and this one.
Other than that, first episode wasn't really anything special, but the fight scenes did look good, nice and fluid, and the animation was top notch. I was only sad that the online streams aren't very high quality because it really is a very good looking show.
... Well, hell, this person right here has already said almost everything I was going to say, practically to the letter. :S
Just a couple things to add, really: It's nice to see that the sense of humour and animation style hasn't changed. That was to be expected I guess, but still nice. I have hope that it will become as good as the original 3 seasons after it has a bit more time to develop. At the very least, it looks like it'll be worth watching.
jdogtwodolla: Amon?! Is that supposed to be a satirical commentary on ANONYMOUS!? Who knows at this point.
I think it might possibly be a reference to the Egyptian King of the Gods (or the general term of Amon meaning King in the ancient Middle East because of it being the name of the King of the Gods).
But considering the Avatar world is more concerned with far Eastern mythology, I could be dead wrong.
Scarim Coral: Sorry but you're on your own for that (reading comic/ graphic novels isn't my thing). I do however got a link to the summary of that comic so far

I pretty much assume it's some sort of historical reference that I'm ignorant of. The anon thing just popped into my head when I saw the protester preaching about anti-establishment in front of a masked man.

Well, it was rather quickly established that bending had something to do with genetics (since every nation has his way of bending and only one is blessed with the ability to learn all 4 [while all the other can still create techniques based on bending of others]).
But is is also a state of mind. Most benders are... chosen by chance. It's like one of X is from his very nature in the right spiritual state to become a bender. The watertribe for example was made out of normal people and benders. But the highly spiritual airnomads were only benders. Every single one of them. So I'd say that every kid Aang had had also the possibility to become an airbender and the ones which lived their lives as monks (like the one showed) became airbenders. The question is: Did all of Aangs children chose to live their lifes as monks?
ChupathingyX: I'm curious to see how the anti-bender revolutionists fight against the benders, unless they were shown in the leaked episodes (I haven't watched them).
I'm actually curious about this too since they seem hopelessly outclassed at the moment.

Aang's son and grandchildren are all air benders, as well as Korra, so that makes about five.
Im surprised nobody has mentioned the excellent music in it so far, they really have shifted the musical tone to reflect the setting and it feels like its own distinct show in this regard.

Lol thanks
They have mentioned it in panels and such. However I put. it in spoilers in case anyone reading this thread wants to find out as the story progresses. Although its not really anything surprising and is pretty much how you'd think they'd have to fight based on non-benders fighting in The Last Airbender.

I have to say I'm rather impressed with the show, and I feel it will be a worthy successor to the original. The animation, writing, music, characterization and story-telling were all top notch in the first two episodes. Its similar enough to the original series that you can clearly tell its a sequel/same universe/made by the same people, but at the same time is different enough that it doesn't seem stale or a re-hash of what has already been done but with new faces. Likewise they didn't retcon or completely ignore the previous series so that to transition between the two seems natural which is often overlooked when starting a spin-off or sequel.
Frozen Donkey Wheel2: I enjoyed it. I especially like the new setting. It's like New York in the 1930s, except filled with magic ninjas. And blimps. And that's pretty awesome. Can't really speak to the plot yet, as I don't have much to go on, but it has potential to be pretty damn cool. I'm intrigued.
Exactly man. The music sets the stage perfectly. You have gangsters too!
DragonFae: It was a shame that of the original cast, only Katara survived, but it was nice to see what kind of mother/grandmother she turned out to be. The show has a lot of promise and I'm hoping that it lives up to Avatar.
Well, obviously Aang wouldn't have survived. But I expect we'll see him return all the same.
Though, I agree with the geenral consensus. Seeing an older Sokka would have been awesome. Sokka was smart, cracked jokes like there was no tomorrow, and you know he had become a master swordsman (he was already pretty good in the finale and the "Day of Black Sun"). Seeing him become the border line crazy, but deceptively wise, and even skilled old guy would been perfect. He could have been Korra's Bumi.
I'll have to see if I can't find it later.
Sokka probably bit the dust first... he ate too much meat.

Plus Aang had 2 more children (which I don't believe we learned if they are benders or not), and since Tenzin is the youngest and already has 3 kids of his own it might be possible that his siblings might also have kids.
So I just finished watching the first two episodes...

FUCK YES!
It had everything, kickass action, fantastic music, interesting characters, beautiful enviorments, and it's still picking up steam!
Speaking of steam, the amount of innovations and the metal benders were so fucking cool! It's great to see how plenty of actions, like Toph learning how to use her Earth bending to bend metal, and the war technology developed at the time, have actually benefited and changed the world around them. Plus, the Mafia-gansta-like benders were great to see, as well.
What I'm most looking forward to is seeing what they do with Amon and the anti-bending group. They don't seem very powerful at this point.
Which brings me to another thing. After a bit of thinking, I think I've figured out who Amon is, or at least who they're related too.

Its heavily implied that Tenzin is the only air-bender of Aang's children when Korra says that he is the only Airbending master. Unless we are to believe that Tenzin's two older siblings just decided not to learn/master air-bending. They have also stated it outside of the show that Tenzin is the only air-bender out of Aang's children. The other two may or may not be water-benders however, or perhaps even fire/earth since Aang was the avatar.

Ya it just dawned onto me today that we got like almost 4 weeks till another episode is up, and it made me super depressed.
Also does anyone know what the policy is on linking videos on here? I want to put a good link to the two videos to save everyone some search trouble but I don't want to incur mod wrath.

So long as it isn't piracy and follows the policy posted below(copy pasted from their code of conduct) it should be fine. http://www.korranation.com/ should be completely fine.
Posting Pics or Videos Any pictures or videos that are vulgar, racist, hateful, spam or contain advertisements or nudity will be taken down immediately. I was thinking links mostly from http://www.watchcartoononline.com/anime-list and maybe other sources since I don't think Korranation: 1) will be posting them regularly 2) If they do post it looks like they take them down pretty quick (I can't see them) 3) I can't verify since I didn't see the videos there, but I thought they were only available to US residents (which I'm not, so might be the reason I can't see the videos)
I really liked both episodes, and I have high standards. The seem to be more in the style and complexity of the last season of the original series, rather than the relative simplicity of the first season, which I dont mind.
I just wonder what they will call the second season of Korra. They already used water, earth, fire and air.
I thought it was pretty great, and I love how it's set in the Avatar world equivalent to the 1920's. It looked good, I liked the characters, and it had some good humour. Not to mention that the Equalists plot looks like it'll be great.
Souplex: I do wonder where the new flying bison came from since Ang's grandson called it by a name that wasn't Appa (I'm really bad with names okay) and Appa was the only flying bison left.
I was wondering the same thing so I chalked it up to them being able to reproduce a-sexually or perhaps Appa was pregnant the whole time?
Also did anyone notice that the fire bending was less fluent than in the original series. The moves tended to be a lot less structured.
I think it was said that the different bending styles have evolved, like some of the probenders used some sort of boxing-influenced bending.
I'm thinking about creating a list on the main page with decent links to every episode (reason I asked for the link above and any rules I might be breaking), and continuously update it with good links to videos that are of a decent quality (mostly for those of those that aren't from the US and can't watch on any of the official Hub, Hulu, etc channels, and to avoid threads being created every time a new episode is released). Thoughts?

metal?
energy?
Energy is where all the others come from apparently and it was only glimpsed in the original series.
As for metal bending, i think due to its heavy use in the era it could be argued its more important than earth in that setting.
