What's your favorite word?

Tittle says it all, the word can be in any language, the language can even be dead.

I can never decide between immolation and defenestration, but the dice tells me that immolation comes out on top. Ah, good old fiery goodness.

i dont know why but i love to say fuck. it just seems to work in so many places. also i like ragamuffin

a toss up between mixel (dont know if its a real word but it gets used a lot in one of my lectures) and triptych

My favorite word is Geschirrspülmaschine which is german for dishwasher. The story behind it is a few years ago when I was taking a German class and once we learned that word the entire class would just say it randomly. It was our class word and I have to say it still makes me laugh whenever I say it.

Not once in my life did I expect to get an excuse to post this:

Joking aside, probably eldritch. It just sounds so appropriately... y'know... eldritch.
I do love swearing,though...

Either Chimicherry or Cherrychanga.
...
Just kiddin'.

I think there are plenty of awesome words. In the English language, anyway. I'm an ignorant bastard and don't know more than the basics of any other language. Can't think of any off of the top of my head, but every now and again I'll hear or read something that makes me go, ''Huh... that's cool/funny/mentally disturbing.''
(Not so much the latter, but I've been on 4chan a few times...)

Anthropophagi or lackadaisical

Vagina. I just love how silly it sounds. I don't know why it spins silly to me, but it just does.

I love many words! "Chicanery" is the first that comes to mind though.

Just on word..

Wobble.

Say it and dont laugh, i dare you.

Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu, one of the longest place names known to man.

Just kidding, I couldn't even pronounce this one if my life depended on it.

It's probably Katratzi, the name of a secret Scarran base in Farscape. This name has a certain ring to it.

Interesting... generally after someone says something that isn't or a slightly private characteristic of themselves.

captcha: have an inkling (of context)

Zantos:
defenestration

Either Defenestrate or Magenta. Defenestrate because it's fun, Magenta because it's my go-to random response word.

So many choices... Hrm, is it Entitlement? how about socialist? Must be hacker.

No.. Wait.. i HATE what has been done to those words.

But as a linguist I really have no favorites because theres simply too many beautiful, or efficient, or awesome words to choose from. So, ill go with ... sphincterocity.

- The unmitigated level of sphincterocity around the internet is astounding and a little terrifying.

My favourite Swedish word is "plötsligt", because it just sounds funny. (means "suddenly")
Favourite Finnish word: "Perkele". It's the "most Finnish" word I can think of and also the best swear word in any language I know. (translates roughly to "bloody hell")

My favourite word has to be synonymous, just love using it and the way it sound.

Fuck is such a versatile word. It does everything a word could possibly do.

Collywobbles just because it is the most amazing word I've ever learned in an english class before. Seriously you cant say that word in anything but a light hearted tone. ITS JUST AWESOME.

Sorry... random, how my brain associates things...

OT: My favourite word is actually from a synthetic language that exists nowhere except my head and a whole load of crap I've written. And even then it's a portmanteau.

So, I'll select a different one... which is actually from a synthetic language that is a derivative of said synthetic language of above that exists nowhere except my head and a whole load of crap I've written. Points for rightly guessing what language it's ripped from and what it means (please take into account my sense of morbidity): Greyve.

Clues on request.

MAGNIFICENT!

Edit: I concur with below poster, trebuchet is a magnificent word.

Probably this (the spoilered word) seriously. It's just so therapeutic to say, and rolls right off the tongue.

Other contenders are wench and trebuchet.

Well it's either Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
OR:
The full chemical name of Titin. Given via the link because the actual name is 189,819 letters long.

I kind of have a thing for really long words

I think the word "lol" is quite interesting how it can be used instead of laughing and how it's filtered into real life. It's also very short but satisfying to say.

Either splendiferous or Ascalon. Thrice is also up there too. Atmora is a fun word too.

So many words!

Well it is a word so awesome it cannot be said!
Either that or Boo
Or that chemical thats 189,819 letters long
Or Fez

A-chem...

My favourite word begins with F and ends with U-C-K. My favourite word is Fire-truck what else d'ya think I'd say?

I quite like the word "Spiffy." Like the peanut butter.

Okay, what the fuck. HOW did Pnuemonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis get ninja'd from me? Good golly.

I guess I'll have to go with the word synonymous. It just flows really nicely. Though it's favourite-word-of-the-minute, ADHD and whatnot...

Magic.

It's gotta be emphasised in some way (e.g those italics) or it stops being so damn awesome. Magic.

Kumquat, picklebarrel, chimey-cherry-changa

I quite like the German word "Jugendherberge". It means something like "a youth hostel in the mountains" (I hope I didn't get that too wrong). OK, "like" is too strong a word. And not even correct. Just after four years of studying German, this is the first thing that comes to mind any time somebody tells me "say something in German". I'm like "Ja, ich kann ein Bisschen Deutsch - Jugendherbberge!"[1].

I only say that to people who don't speak German, obviously.

Also I have another favourite German word - "Scheisse"... I know it's stupid, it just feels so much better to use that one instead.

[1] "Yes, I know a little German - youth hostel in the mountains!"

You got that right. It has nothing to do with mountains though, it simply means youth hostel.

Now that's funny. I know a lot of German-speaking people who prefer to use the English word.

// edit

Forgot to mention Koyaanisqatsi. Another word I really like.

Vehement, or behemoth. I don't know why, I just like the way they look written down, I like what they imply, and they roll off the tongue nicely.

Ah my favorite word would either have to be "Mahogany" or "Snazzy" but I'm kinda leaning toward mahogany.
