What's your favorite word?

My favorite words are Albanian words. Really, any Albanian word is awesome if you hear it spoken. Probably if I had to pick a few, I'd pick Flutur (butterfly) pronounced Flew-teur, Gjocks (breasts) pronounced Jucks (I like to say Gjocks e bukur to my girlfriend, which translates to "beautiful breasts"), or dhelper (fox) pronounced dthel-pur. oooh ooh, buburrec (cockroach) pronounced boo-boo-rets.

Also, tangerine, because http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SuTLMp6Ytw

Inflammable, just because it weeds out the ignorant among us.

Probably words that roll off the tongue like "Karma", "Ricochet" or "Deja vu" or even "PHANTASMAGORIA!" (Points to whoever gets the reference)

My favourite word is Gazebo, I like to extend the a and speed up the e so it sounds more like Gaaaahziboe
yeah...

Shpupic. I HAVE SPOKEN.

Malty Milk Whistle:

Xenowolf:
backpfeifengesicht, a German word that roughly translates as "a face in need of a fist". English NEEDS an equivelent of that word.

Ok that's amazing.
Is it a literal translation or an idiom?

I'm pretty sure it's an idiom, I first read about it on Cracked.

Immolation is a good word. So is Schadenfreude.

consensually

You can add it to anything and make it OK.

example...

I'm gonna shove Maxi's nun-chuck's right up your ass, consensually

I like juxtapose. The act of juxtaposition itself is one of my favorite routes to a joke (or making a point) and the word itself is fun to say.

Coming in at number two is vitrify. The word itself does such an excellent job at describing an act. When I say vitrify it is like the word itself is melting.

PHANTASMAGORIA! A PUZZLE OF THE FLESH! Obviously from The Spoony Experiment.

So... How many points do I get?

slangrel and darksome.

Defenestrate.

Clusterfuck. Sounds just like what it is and it's fun to describe something using it.

Akiko.
It used to be elbow, but I've moved on.

"Droll" or "Drek."

Love 'em.

Easy!

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious of course!

Cookie if you know where it is from. Many youngsters today have no clue. :(

burninate

"Schadenfreude"
Because English doesn't have a word that means laughing at another's misery

also "Klo"

hehe because toilet

idarkphoenixi:
"Gobbledygook" I like it, I want to use it more in conversation.

ok you get + 2 Blackadder points

also

Hallvard Dovakiin:
Tittle says it all, the word can be in any language, the language can even be dead.

Tittle is my new favourite word I dont know what it means but you sure make it sound versatile.

Aw just looked it up and tittle is apparently the name of a distinguishing part of a glyph like the dot on an i or j now im a little dissapointed.

I have always liked the word tokidoki which means sometimes in Japanese not sure its my favourite though.

Well done! You get 1000 points, but remember, the points don't matter. Just like online petitions to save a fictional character.

Morningstar (the celestial body that is actually venus, not the weapon).

Let's see. I like 'Defenestrate', as a threat.
Also 'Churl' as an insult. Honestly, I prefer this to Cunt or other such visceral words. I don't think any can carry such venom as Churl.
'Schadenfreude'
'Smorgasbord'
'Vaudeville'
And of course,
'Thespian'
are all contenders

OhJohnNo:
Magic.

It's gotta be emphasised in some way (e.g those italics) or it stops being so damn awesome. Magic.

To add awesome, stick a k on the end.

Magick.

For some reason, I love the words "graphic" and "novel." So both of them together? JACKPOT!

Based on how regularly I use it, I'd have to go with "literally". Outside of that, I don't really think I have a favourite word, as such? They're all pretty interesting when you think about them.

The German word for Bagpipes is 'Dudelsack' ! How awesome is that word?

Llil:
My favourite Swedish word is "plötsligt", because it just sounds funny. (means "suddenly")
Favourite Finnish word: "Perkele". It's the "most Finnish" word I can think of and also the best swear word in any language I know. (translates roughly to "bloody hell")

You probably get this link a lot, but...

Scandinavia and the World - A Bad Day.

Vegosiux:

Alduin Silas:
INCONCIEVABLE!
(Cookie for those who get it)

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

As for my favorite word, it's...indubitably. Most indubitably.

Rats, ninja'd on indubitably.

Well, second favorite word isn't so much a word as a sound, but "tch" is so fun to say. And you can never do it on purpose...

I'm sorry, but what kind of family does not teach their children that word? I'd like to have a word with them.

I quite agree. If that tradition dies I will simply have to raise my chidren on another planet.

OT: It's probably a tossup between apocalyptic and preposterous. However I also love any form of onomatopoeia. Batman sound effects FTW.

Also, i still insist that Joghurt is onomatopoea.

'Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia'; the fear of long words... Just for the sheer irony of it :)

The sound of it is simply quite atrocious.

that would be "booyeah!"

My favourite word has to be Life and Sky. Just something that came up to my mind.

I like the word "fuck", I don't say it a whole lot but it's such a fantastically versatile word!

You can everything with fuck, even stick it in the middle of words "fan-fucking-tastic". You can have "fuck you" but "you fuck" and they are both insults.

"Fuck you" can mean "you have pissed me off" or "I want to fuck you".

Whether you are in pain or pleasure, fuck will fit in perfectly. Stub your toe? "FUCK!" about to have a big O? "fuck, Fuck, FUCK, FUCKING HELL YES!".

Just about every sentence can have at least one fuck added to it.

Plus it is such a .... meaty sounding word and can be extended like this fellow

So there you have it, my fav word, "fuck".

My favorite word is 'callipygian'. It's doubly awesome when you find out what it means.

When ever someone makes any kind of statement I like to reply "Indeed".
