OT: I still need to get into real mail. Probably won't interest me as I keep my personal email for business and family only but it is a cool idea. :)
At this current state, many have decided that PM would be the best way and then move onto E-mail/IM (if both parties want) and even snail-mail if both parties are comfortable and willing. :)

manic_depressive13: If I could gyp a native Indonesian speaker into talking to me to help me with my studies, that woul be so brilliant. Could I do that?
I'm not sure if we have any in the group but sure, as long as both of you were okay with it.
@Lucem712: BTW, about your logo if I you don't mind a slight suggestion, I'd suggest rotating the words slightly to the left so that the Escapist 'e' isn't bisecting the word 'escapist.' Just a thought.
What'cha think about this?
Good good. I wasn't entirely sure I'd clearly expressed what I had in mind, but it looks like you understood.
SomeBrianDude: I'd absolutely be up for doing this. All you Escapists seem like cool folks, I see no downside to giving having a pen-pal a bash. (Besides, I was in the half of the class in primary school that didn't have penpals, it's kind of something everyone should do, is it not? Looking back my school's method of selection was brutal.) Where do I sign?
Fiz_The_Toaster: Ooooh, we should, and we should totally be called The Words of Prey.
I just hope we can make the Bard proud of possibly continuing his work.
I smell SITCOM!
Lucem712: Ooh, I know the feeling. My friends use to joke that the only reason I got high marks in English was because our teacher couldn't read my itty-bitty cursive. (My signature is the bomb though :P )
That may just be crazy enough to work! Why didn't I think of that...
GethBall: Uhhhh...... no thanks. I prefer talking face to face.
That's a good way to meet serial killers, Gethball. The Escapist Pen-Pal Program (EPPP for short) promises to protect you from (most) serial killers.*[1]
Well, there was this one time I Rick-rolled an Escapist member by love letter, going through snail mail... I should do that again sometime. I just need a printer, or at least leads to replace the ones the shop fixing it lost >.> I think some people might be too scared to PM a half-dead, absent mod, though >.> I might infect them, and start the zombie apocalypse.
Sounds like an interesting idea, I wish I could do it, but I'm not really good at conversation, I would just screw it up, besides every single thing I have to say that is even slightly interesting is on the list of things I do not talk about, so I'd run out of conversation material really, really fast, but anyway good luck with you're project!

A list of things you do not talk about does sound kind of interesting. But of course it would be inexplicable since you don't talk about the things on it.
EeveeElectro: No one talks to me on here... :c Maybe I should initiate conversation. I'm too awkward >.<; I never had a penpal in school either D: Sadfaic.
Talking to new people is cool.
It was a big nostalgia thing for me. I had a pen-pal from a neighboring town, but it was pretty damn cool. :)
I sounds like fun. I live in Japan though so I do not know how someone would feel about paying the extortionate postage charges. I can send things on pokemon/dragonballZ/hello kitty paper though.
Powereaver: Why did i first read this as the escapist.. penal program .. i was thinking.. we have prison inmates? FAIL at reading by me :/
Edit : On a sidenote being aussie its hard for overseas people to penpal me :D
Currently the Pen-Pal program is using opt-in match-making, called 'Rounds'. When each round is announced, users will express their interested in being paired. The names are then entered and randomized (to ensure there is no bias by the Match-Maker.) and then the users are informed of their pen-pal.
From this point on, the users will decided how they maintain contact. Be it via PM/E-mail/IM/ or Snail-Mail (If both parties are comfortable and willing)

It's surprisingly effective if you have decent writing but your writing is too small to see haha.
Fuck y'all! Fuck all y'all!

OT: That sounds like a pretty neat idea actually
