In all seriousness, after a period of time (3-5 months), I think threads should either be locked or deleted. No one likes talking on a dead thread, and new people show up with new opinions, they should be able to create a new thread without everyone ZOMG SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST! But hey, whatever floats your boat.
Oh please, people would moan about necros when the threads been innactive for a week. And then moan about recycled threads if someone made a new thread about it instead of necroing.
And if you haven't noticed, the escapist seems to be recycling it's old articles at the bottom of the front page.
I'd wager that's responsible for most of the recent necros (which I haven't actually noticed.)

Necroing is using a dead thread from say over a year ago. Anything over a year old that is not flamebait topic is usually fine to be remade something made and then remade almost exactly the same within a month or 2 is use the search bar. 6 months to a year is kind of a grey area to be honest. That is the difference. At least that seems to be the general idea on most forums of what considers use the search bar and necromancy.

Agreed... but the annoying part is that I am reading an article or something and the "related" content is underneath... and it is interesting. Then I click on it and read that it's from 2009. It annoys me because now I either have to start a thread (which I still have never done) or revive an ancient one because the issue has now had progress since the OP.

Oh it is a dark power that only few dare to wield. Yet there has been a dangerous increase in the dark art of late. It has claimed the dignity of many innocents who unknowingly post in a thread that should have been laid to rest long ago....

Because Necroing a thread makes you scum. And repeating a thread gets your throat slit. Unless, naturally, you are repeating a thread about all the fucking necroing/repeat threads. In which case you are a stalwart pillar of the community.

This. Create a new thread for a topic that's been done to death and you'll get image macros and calls to use the Search bar, you noob. Necro a thread to avoid having to create one, and you get called at for necroposting.
Choose, people. Either way, you're not stopping the newbloods from asking us if we've gone Imperial or Stormcloak via another rendition on that freaking old poll; because *their* interrogation feels genuine and special to them.
I agree with this as well, but it seems that we are the minority.
