Mass Effect. What? You didn't say it had to be a TV series...
you phantom'd me!!!?? you swine!!!
Phantoms gonna phant... om... I'll let myself out...
Ahh, a minor oversight. I changed the title. :P
Yeah, it only really works with -er.
No you don't get to do that. That will ruin all my plans... ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL!
*points to tinfoil hat*
Shit... Well... Errr... Nice weather we're havinghahanowIrunawaywhilekeepingtheupperhandhuzzah!
I laughed, you can stay! OT: If we're going with games, Fallout (post apocalyptic counts as sci fi, right?) Movies? Star Wars TV shows? Uh...Stargate Atlantis I guess.
and Nemisis are gonna nem....well whatever that sound is they make you knwo I was thinking the Nemisis are alot like chickens with sniper rilfes...when you get up to them they run around in that pathetic/helpless way like chickens, you know and they know somones about to get an omni-blade to the face
I'm pretty sure Quantum Leap would qualify, but in case it doesn't, I'd say my backup of Sliders. Just so people are clear, not that it matters: 1) Quantum Leap
The first two seasons of the 2004 Battlestar Galactica were amazing. The third was still pretty good but the fourth was so so bad. Still the best one overal though
I think it was pretty good, but I didn't really watch it enough to understand the plot, only snippets - so these 40,000 colonists are looking for Earth which they somehow lost. Commander Adama was one of the best characters IMO. At the moment, I've got my eye on Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, though. Looks interesting.
Babylon 5, no contest. It had a proper overarching story going throughout the series without descending into nonsense like Battlestar Galactica did and without being weighed down by the utopia stuff that Star Trek had, it only just edges out Firefly which loses because it was so short.
Pretty much this, right down to the season breakdown. I thought S3 and S4 had some MOMENTS, but they were saddled with pseudo-mystical garbage and bizarre character re-writes, and the less said about the finale the better. The first two seasons were phenomenal stuff. Up there with some of the very best shows on television.
I'm a big sci-fi fan in general, but I find that a lot of the sci-fi tv series just don't grab me. Could never get into Stargate or Star Trek for example. However the mighty Battlesar Galactica reigns supreme over most tv for me. And Firefly of course.
Battlestar Galactica as number one, with Stargate SG1 and Firefly as runners up.
Firefly is up there if you roll in Serenity. Otherwise it was a one season show that showed a little potential but never really went anywhere. Same issue holding Deadwood back, really. Show doesn't actually "end". It just dribbles out and gets cancelled.
If 'Heroes' doesn't count as sci-fi, as I suspect, then 'Firefly' is the only sci-fi show I've ever watched for more than one episode. It was very good, and factoring in the film gives it a full plot as a series.
Star Trek TNG, by far. Then: Quantum Leap.
I wish I could unwatch that finale :(
TV - Doctor Who, duh | |
It's a tie between Firefly and Doctor Who, but if you're going for currently-running, then Doctor Who it is.
Doctor Who it,s one of the most varied live action shows currently out there
My favorites are Firefly, Eureka, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., Falling Skies, and SGU.
It got to be Red Dwarf! What? It is sci-fi with alot of comedy in it!
Fringe counts, so Fringe. As much as I love cheesy sci-fi in space, I think Fringe outclasses all of those. All the episodes I've seen of Dr.Who are nonsensical. He just does whatever the hell he wants for the sake of his ego, and most of the time he acts like a psychopath about it. There's no drama or interesting plot devices, its just "hmm, what cool thing can we make the doctor do this week to make him look even cooler?" Also the camera looks VERY unprofessional. I've seen youtube channels with better camera work than Dr.Who.
I am a bit of a sci-fi fan so; - RDM's Battlestar Galactica. In no particular order. Yea so i'm indecisive :op
Er... I've just started watching Farscape but I don't have a comment on it yet. I like D'Argo, and the puppets are cool.
Primeval and Starship Troopers: A Roughnecks Chronicle. I wish they finished the latter though...
Doctor Who. It's wildly inconsistent but there's nothing else like it, and I've been watching it all my life. Runners up in no particular order - Star Trek (original series only!), Farscape (for wild inventiveness) and Max Headroom (because 80s cyberpunk is the best cyberpunk.)
(New) Battlestar Galactica, funny enough, i found the seasons 3 & 4 to be most amazing while 1 & 2 were just "nice". And series finale the best episode i've ever seen in any tv show. Second place goes to Babylon 5.
Firefly, Mass effect, Dr Who, Torchwood...
Stargate series (except universe) and doctor who
Well lets see Battlestar Galactica (2004): even though I'm currently on season 3 I would still say that the first two season are good enough that even if the 3 and 4 proved to be unsatisfying I would still rank this TV series as one of my favorite. Firefly...obviously Star Trek If we are also talking about anime Cowboy Bebop Macross and Macross Frontier Full Metal Panic Mobile Suit Gundam...No I'm not going to say which one because to be quite honest I don't even know which one is my favorite. Hell it was hard enough for me to decide on my favorite Star Trek TV series.

I'm split between Stargate and The X-Files. Both 90s series which were cancelled. I really liked the main cast of both. They had relatively intelligent, well thought-out plots and sci-fi concepts, and interesting lead characters. Though if I could bring back one, it would be the X-Files, it was peerless in exploring conspiracies in high places and modern day mysteries.
Farscape is something I'd like to try, as is Terminator: SCC.
