I have never before heard this in my life

On music singles there are usually 2 songs, the main song that has the title of the single. And another song. The second song is a B-Side. B-Sides are also songs that don't get released onto the main albums, most bands release a collection album of all their B-Sides.

No bro it's 2012. The reason I asked was that most bands that have been active for a while release B-Side compilations. I thought maybe some escapists have bought one of these compilations.

Some artists aren't making a metric crap-ton of money, and they just tour nonstop; that's how they make a living. The ones fortunately enough to have the time, money and energy to record while they're on the road frequently ARE just doing it for the love of the music, and I try to support them, when I can.

You should too. Because it's the way to keep people out there making awesome, non-formulaic music.

I've never seen the word vintage on any of them. You'd see vintage printed on greatest hits albums, greatest hits albums are the record companies trying to get more of your money. Not B-Side compilations.

Most of the bands I like split up decades ago.

I don't need to support shit and I get to listen to great music.

Johnny Cash died a few years back, and I still shell out for albums of his that I don't already own; same could be said of the Dead Kennedy's: most of their CD's that I owned were stolen during a break-in of my car, so I've repurchased the albums. Just because YOU don't want to encourage less-well-known bands doesn't mean others shouldn't.

But I hope you enjoy your angry little existence, with whatever it is that you deem "great music"; I'll keep supporting my local bands and the bands that tour like hell without ever playing a 20,000+ seat stadium. So far, I've yet to regret a single pub show I've been to, and for the relative cost, compared to a stadium show, it's way more worthwhile, in my opinion.

And to add, you also see this on a lot of 12" vinyl. It's literally the "B-Side."

6 years ago the Idea of "buying music" would have just been so foregn...its right here..on the internet, I'm suposed to buy it on a CD?

nowdays though I use Itunes for the convienence, I know what Im getting, I also buy CD's because I actually like music alot more and find it fun to "discover" an album

I feel guildty if I don't buy it...I think Itunes has made it so that there is less of an excuse to pirate

I've never bought anything off iTunes before, I prefer having my music in physical form. I love booklets from CDs especially deluxe edition booklets, it's a little sad.

I'm very much a CD buyer as well, but I have to ask, where the hell do you even find singles to hear the B-sides? I appreciate that the special editions and B-side compilations exist, but are you actually buying singles?

The last single I bought was Gorillaz - Dare in 2005. I don't buy many singles I buy the B-Side compilations if their released. You can listen to most singles with their B-Sides on programs like Spotify. Spotify is great, every play of a song on spotify money goes to the artist. Amazon sells vinyl and you can buy straight from most artists websites. So, in short I mostly buy compilations and listen to b-sides on spotify if they're not available in a compilation.

At any rate, it's not a matter of "sticking it to the industry", it's about supporting the bands and artists that I enjoy listening to and seeing live. If people don't go to gigs, buy an occasional shirt and CD, and encourage the bands that don't play the stadium shows, the "industry" will continue to pump out cookie-cutter, formula-driven musical acts, and book stadium shows.

I can't say I prefer most current 'popular' artists over most of the acts I've seen live; I'd rather listen to something that has some originality. Besides, some of the bands I choose to support are literally touring full-time; that's how they make a living. Every time I've bought a CD after watching a band do a live show, that's encouraging them to keep making the music I enjoy.

People. To get B-sides, you go to the iTunes page of a band you like, look at their singles and EPs, get the B-sides from them, then arrange them into a lovely little collection that can be listened to as a mini-album.

There. Is that really so hard?

Anyway, I have a whole host of these babies.

Plan to get some Radiohead B-sides too, and after that... I dunno, Foo Fighters? U2? Anyone I can manage.

This was on my copy of the album, just oddly lively that I like.
