I heard that those have some great resale value...
Oh please :D You're such a diva.
Imma gon' do it! I swear I'll swallow these things! I won't, I'm a coward... Back to the topic at hand, I also nominate TheBobmus
I nominate the frightening homeless man outside of my home.
I respectfully denominate myself and nominate Daystar, because he makes the site extremely fun and entertaining.
Oooooooooh I remember this from way back when. Kinda cool to see it coming back.
I cast my vote for Hazy992 because I can't get it up (my joy) on this forum without him. And I cast a vote for Zeel- wait, can we do that? Oh well, too late. +1 to Zeelous.
D'aww! Thanks bro! :D | |
Hmm. Forum fame and all the negative stuff that comes with it... Okay, I won't even begin with that. This thread should turn out a prime example of that, if it isn't yet. The lusty grinding of online-egos. Personally, I do prefer intelligent comprehensive users who actually provide something with their posts. The ones with the immediate snappy one-two-liners, or those who purposely cause a bit of a stir, and so on, are the ones who end up getting their names thrown around. From featured content: I like Shamus Young's Experienced Points, Yahtzee's Extra Punctuation, and the well written little news pieces with the trademark casual twist. They're the gems of The Escapist, off-forums.
I second this as a former regular contributor *cough shameless plug for myself*. That place doesn't get half the attention it deserves.
I'd like to throw in a vote for Hazy992. Mostly because between him and Daystar threads lighten up a hell of a lot and are generally more pleasant to read. It's nice not to see a big wall of cynicism everywhere all the time on The Escapist. He also said that my cooking sounds delicious, which was cool.
Part of me wants to say Daystar. But I think that is due to the fame. I mean, I have seent he wolf, I have seen the name, but I cannot for the life of me remember anything that has been written by the quite possibly fine user. Heh. Hmmm. How about FromRussiaWithLove, for a brilliant example of Nerd Sniping? Heh. Not been around the forums long enough to really pick up on any shining stars of outstanding kindness. A few gems of the reverse spring to mind but this little contest is not to drag the worst the escapist has to offer into the light. Otherwise I would probably be one of the first to be shot, heh. In a freak vote, I nominate... Nasrin! Most intelligent person I have conversed with on this site in quite a while. Although I guess that is cheating. Nominating a member of staff and all, Heh. All of that aside +1 for Daystar. Only member whos name comes to mind in a positive light. I think one of his posts made me laugh once.
I'm not sure how you'd figure it out (I assume you have a database of some kind) but I think it'd be interesting to have the member with the oldest join date (and is still active in the threads obviously) as a community spotlight person.
Oh, these things? I liked these spotlights. I wondered where they went, after that one on Jake and Calumon. I don't know who...I'd...
Man, it's harder than I thought to find decent images of manga Isumi.
Ah, nice to see this revived. Where we get to see the cream of the crop, or something like that. I suppose I should have a nomination for someone, but I can't think of anyone. And I don't want to nominate someone who's already been listed, that's not how I roll, I flow with the counter culture, trendsetting and all that.
Wait... I thought the Escapist's users wanted the Community Spotlight back so that there wouldn't be a gap between the staff and the members. OT: I vote for Redlin5, sky14kemea, and staika. And not because they're my bestest buddies on this site... I also want MelasZepheos to be spotlighted, because I think he makes very insightful posts, but doesn't get a lot of recognition.
Sweet! I've missed the spotlights actually. And, since there's no mention of not doing so, I choose to nominate myself because I am a conceited bastard! Mwahahaha! Kidding. Seriously though, I kinda like the idea of featuring members that aren't really well known over the well known ones (i.e. Timelord, Caramel Frappe, etc.). I mean, feature them occasionally, but let the little guys have their spotlight too ^_^
I haven't seen Marter's name here yet and unless he's already been the focus of one or there's rule against mods being highlighted I'd nominate him. Since I'm always lurking on the Review board he's the user/mod I've seen the most contributions from and interacted with the most and I think it would be interesting to see what he's like.
Let's do ThriKreen so I can watch him squirm. <3 Or have we done NewK or GreyFox[numbers] yet? They'd be fun, too.
I vote for Daystar Clarion, the first Brovenger!
I don't particularly like the idea of resurrecting these. I just hope it doesn't turn into another popularity contest. If it does work however, I nominate Dastardly and Erana, because they are literate, balanced and polite users, whose manner I strive to emulate. I really should friend request them - they seem nice.
. | |
My nomination goes to SirBryghtside, for being a pretty cool kid.
Daystar Clarion )(*o*)) _I__I_ Daystar Elizabeth Clarion! DAYSTAR CLARION! Daystar Clarion!>.> <.< DID I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR!? ------------------------- Although, I also choose Hazy992! Hazy Catherine 992! Hazy992!------------------------- >.> <.< AM I INDECISIVE!?...Yes
It sounds like fun The forums have been so dead recently and the community needs fun things to talk about. I would love to nominate a few people but I think they have all moved on now, cest la vie
Maybe I should nominate you, so if you ever do become forum famous I can say I talked to you before it was cool.
... ... I fucking love your avatar. I can't stop watching it...
Well if forum fame depends on post counts then you'll only have to wait another.......5-6 years perhaps? Anyways, I'm not a huge fan of the spotlight. I prefer to stand slightly left of the spotlight, leaning against the wall with one leg propped up, wearing my nice leather coat and staring off into the distance looking all deep/stoic all the while actually thinking "Fuck sake this is boring" or "I'd kill for a drink right now"
Oh man, you're so edgy and cool. If I were a woman, I'd go out with you in an instant so I can attempt to change you for the better, while not realising that the relationship is doomed if I succeed because your initial lone wolfiness is what made me so attracted to to you.
I know right? I don't play by anyones rules except my own. And even that's questionable because I'm so hardcore like that. But maybe your insistence to change me will reveal a sensitive centre that I hide with my persona, brought on due to a strained relationship with my father who blames himself for the death of my mother which was brought on by a bear attack and then we can walk off into the night together while
I will continue to admire you both from afar. *continues to stare through binoculars*
Indeed, while at the same time, you reveal in me a desire for for fun that I realised was hidden deep away during my teenager years at Catholic school after I realised I hated my father and I wished to spite him by getting a tattoo of the Star of David on my hip.
Ooooh, I remember this. I thought it was a really good idea at the time, it's a shame you stopped doing it... but good you're picking it back up ^.^ I'd like someone who isn't as mentioned as much. Maybe RAKTheUndead to see his incredibly depressing answers XD

Change the damn record already.
Yeah, I'm going with this too.
