Lever: It is my opinion, really more of a theory, that people who claim to want world peace really don't know what they're asking for. Considering human nature, and the last 10,000 years(ish) of history and what we know of it, "world peace" could only be accomplished by the extinction of the human race.
I completely agree with you, this one annoys the hell out of me.
An expansion on that is people who buy into the whole "democratic peace theory" thing. For those who don't know, there is a fair number of people that believe if every government on Earth adopted western-style democracy and capitalism there would be no more war. I can't possibly conceive of a stupider idea. As long as we still exist people will find reasons to kill each other.
I also am not a big fan of political science. I find that it doesn't really have a whole lot of use. Speaking as a historian...my facts beat your theories. As one of my history professors said, political science is less about figuring out what is actually going on and more about "cutting the foot to fit the shoe." In other words, taking what actually happened and twisting it until it fits whatever theory you support.
- "The Tales series is only about ther battle system."
Bulldroppings. The series used to have atrocious, only half playable battle systems and got by on the plots and characters. Symphonia and Abyss are perhaps my two favorite games ever for the character interactions and the overall plot, and their tight battle systems only made them more enjoyable to progress. Vesperia pushed the series more mainstream, with a less developped cast and more emphasis on the battle, which has been attracting a lot of mainstream JRPG fans who are so used to games with so little going for them that a little character devellopment is "too much talking, boring, let me fight already." Appealing to a more mainstream audience leads more sales with means one of my favorite series has been ruined and has fallen into "just another crappy mainstream JRPG" territory.
- "PS1 games are classics." "Gaming is relatively new so by relativity even games from last gen are classics."
Copious amounts of bovine fecal matter excrement samples obtained from a male specimen. Punk rock from the 1990's will never be considered "classic rock." Harry Potter, among other books, will also not be considered "a classic" for a very very long time to come. Why? Because the very definition of "classic" either means something is the original, OR, and this is the relevant one, it has stood the test of time. A new form of digital art that's been around for 5 years wouldn't call stuff from year 1 "classic" because the medium itself is still new. But noooo, the community is full of self-gratifying people who want to sound elegant by calling their own personal favorites "classics" without even stopping to think about what the goddamn word even MEANS! This pisses me off more than you can probably guess, especially when Sony has the audacity to call it's PSN Store sections "PS1 classics" or even worse, "PS2 classics." Before using a word, learn the meaning!
- "Patriotism is American."
The word patriot refers to one with pride in their country. I am a patriotic Canadian, for example. But, in recent years, most notably since 9/11, I've seen a swell in the number of Americans who think it's THEIR word and ONLY applies to them. I was once on a forum where a woman from France said she was patriotic, and some American chimed in "Yeah, we're that awesome that even Europe wants in on this, fuck yeah America!" I have an American friend who said he was an American Patriot and was met with "Stop being so redundant, asshole." Now, don't get me wrong. My fiancee is American. Some of my best friends are American. I know these morons are very much the minority. But the thing is, they're so vocal that when one pops up, he or she is impossible to ignore.
... man, I'm seriously working myself into frustration, here. Gonna post more later and leave it here for now.
People who think the catholic church is a very good thing and the pope is an important man...
Ok, so the fact that they are getting away with raping children for years without getting punished, the fact that even though the catholic church is supposed to be a selfless organization, won't pay a fucking cent in reparation to the damages caused by them and these people who were supposed to be named and shamed are getting off scot free, yeah real fucking nice, fuck the catholic church and everyone who follows them like they have never done anything wrong in their lives.
Also, when pope Benedict dies, who will mourned over? the man himself or his title, give it a week for a new pope once Benedict kicks the bucket and no one will care, they care about his status, not the man himself.
Sorry if anyone is offended by this, but this is a personal grudge, if the world is going to move forward, that means the catholic church needs to die.

"Dragon Age: Origins is not a good game." Yes, it is a good game! It is a fine game worthy of many hundreds of hours, and multiple completions! Including the DLC(which makes it that much more epic). Anyone who says otherwise is a blasphemer, I say! A BLASPHEMER!
and already you have an unacceptable opinion - to be honest, i justed wanted to make it easy for the like of you. you know, people who like below-average "RPGs" :p

I'm not against the freedom to do what you want with your body, but the price of healthcare would go way up, y'know because of all the heroin overdosers and whatnot. Also, and I don't know if it would change if they were legalised, but drugs seem to promote a bad attitude, especially when you're on them, because when you're not in the right state of mind, you can do some crazy stuff.
They're not just dangerous to the users, but those around them too.

OT: I suppose I can't stand people who say FFXIII had the best combat in the series...no, it was slow, boring and was a chore to play.
kiri2tsubasa: I think that Valve is an over valued company.
I don't like some of the business practices of Valve in regards to retail PC games.
EA is not evil.
Trying to make money is not dumb.
Continuing to make new IPs that fail to turn any profit at all, which in turn causes you to risk closing the doors isn't a smart move.
A lot of the Indie games are not that good at all. Only a few are.
You do not get the government involved in anything, unless it is illegal. Otherwise it is a waste of taxpayers money.
I think that Law courses should be made mandatory in every school in the World, that way their will be less frivolous lawsuits and people will understand what a lawsuit is about instead of jumping to erroneous conclusions.
over-rated not over-valued, over valued would be whatever they are valued at being too much (and bugger if i can be assed to find that figure).
ANYWAY OT
Anyone who has the opinion that they "need a gun" no you don't. Just no, go sit in a range and shoot all day to your hearts content but i do not trust every tom dick and harry to have one, hell i can only think of one of my mates i would actually trust to own a gun, and even then still wouldn't like it.
The insistence on lumping all forms of electronic music together they really aren't all the same.
And the opinion that bunting is good for anything, its not, its stupid and annoying.
*edit* Anybody who thinks form over function when it comes to technology, their just wrong.
I actually LIKED the mass effect 3 ending. I killed all the reapers like I said I would and never looked back. What did most people expect/want to happen?

klaynexas3: Getting an Xbox 360 is fucking stupid. So many of the games that so many people play on the 360 can be bought for the computer at a cheaper price and you don't have to pay for online. Halo is the only thing on there I see as any good that is actually exclusive, and not just Microsoft exclusive, but beyond that, most people just use it for CoD or Battlefield, which can be bought for the computer or even a PS3, and you'll avoid the crowd of 8-year-olds and `18-year-olds with the same maturity they had at 8. XBLA might have some decent games, but I refuse to see a good buy as something that I have to buy an initial product to pay monthly for a service so I can buy another product. PS3 and the computer don't make you pay more than the initial price of the system to buy games for it, and none of them are worth paying a monthly price and then some to get. I don't care if you say the gameplay is different from an Xbox to a computer, because you can plug a damn controller into your computer and play like that. An Xbox is nothing more than a computer with brain damage.
Also, rap and screamo are not forms of music. The music in the background might be, but the rap or the screaming themselves are not music. I have a higher tolerance to screamo though because A: Most of the music that accompanies it, and even the mainstream stuff of it, is actually well done, and B: Mainstream rap is meaningless and the music which accompanies it is either shit, simple, or stolen from an actually decent song from the past. There is some decent stuff that I have heard, but if it's a rap that you heard on TV or the radio, it will be, by default, god-awful shit.
One more thing, I hate it how it is somehow acceptable for black people to be mad at white people for slavery in which none of the aforementioned are involved, but an Atheist or Pagan or any type of "heathen" can't be pissed about the years of torture and slaughter that their people had been put through. Hell, it lasted longer and was a lot more bloody than the whole slavery thing.
As an athiest this never actually occurred me as a thing to complain about, I'd imagine many of the same disposition are more concerned with troubles in the present.
In fact, name any TV show and theres a 99% chance it sucks. Even Spartacus. I see a lot of people loving that show, it just shows how shitty TV really is when that show is considered a stand out.
Theres my unpopular opinion. I never really say that anywhere else because hey, opinions and all that, but since this thread is specifically for those unacceptable and unpopular opinions :P
Also, I agree, Domino's is bad and anyone who likes eating there should feel bad, then get a real pizza and feel good again.
Yet...your avatar is Walter from Breaking Bad.
One of the 1% of good TV shows.
I'm thinking of changing it to Viserys Targaryen anyway, although the new BB season is starting soon...

Yes, and as it turns out, people are stupid.
Alcohol and tobacco would be treated the same way if they had been discovered recently, or weren't in such widespread use. At least if no more drugs are legal, the cost of drug-related incidences won't go up that much. I still do agree that it would be better if people had that freedom, but it just isn't practical for everyone.
the over use of the auto tuner for singers yes its a cool thing but in my opion when us over use it i just gets annyoing (with the exception of puff daddy, and that other guy who uses it who name ecaspes me) sorry if any one is offened by this.
That My Little Pony is somehow an acceptable source of adult entertainment. At the end of the day, they're still a stable of rainbow colored baby horses, and anyone that self identifies as a "Brony" automatically loses a lot of my respect. I'm still waiting for that whole craze to die off, or more appropriately, brake a leg and have to be shot in the head after a race gone bad.
I'm sorry, but I can't stand Aesop Rock or any of the other "intelligent rappers" that always get brought up here.
I don't hate rap for its lyrical content. I hate it for (more often than not) being incredibly dull to listen to. Eminem is one of the few artists I have found that has overcome this, and I genuinely enjoy some of his stuff, especially "Not Afraid".
All Anime/Manga will never be able to escape the trap of having completely convoluted plots, and unrelatable, emotionally primitive characters. Maybe it's a translation thing, maybe it's a cultural difference, but I cannot stand it. Ideas like Naruto, Bleach, and Death Note, etc. are cool, but they get so bogged down with melodramatic, long winded, pointlessly drawn out story arcs, and convoluted characters...the whole universe becomes one confusing cluster fuck. I don't take anime/manga seriously as [graphic?] literature or having much artistic merit. Hate me for that if you want.
"Mass Effect 3 had a terrific, artistic, beautiful ending and huzzah to BioWare for not bowing to their greedy fanbase to change their artistic vision." -There's no need to get into why this is wrong, it's obvious and others have summarized it better than me. But anyone who thinks the Mass Effect 3 ending was tolerable in any of the (basically identical) forms is wrong and does not deserve an opinion on the storytelling of any form. Also, Halo Reach sucks. Bungie ignored the established Halo canon and went backwards in game design, it is a piece of shit. Even the multiplayer sucked, there is nothing redeeming about it.
"Breaking Bad is a great TV show." -Actually it's quite a boring TV show. I don't understand the cult that follows it around.
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a hilarious show." -There's one problem with that: Charlie Day is a terrible actor, and even calling him an actor is being nice. His voice never changes, he delivers his lines the same way every time, and his character's consist of no substance. He ruined Horrible Bosses (among other problems) and makes It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia unwatchable.
I know it says we all get one, but I'm venting a little bit. At least I stayed out of the political ones.
Oh, and the American version of The Office is terrible. It's not funny, the characters aren't creative, and it's probably the worst thing Steve Carell has ever done.

That Dominos is ever an acceptable place to get pizza from if there are other options. Don't even bother telling me you like Dominos, because that's incorrect. Dominos is inferior to just about every pizza place I've ever been to barring one or two. It's... edible I guess, but I don't care if it's a couple bucks cheaper, I will always be willing to pay a few bucks more for pizza that isn't shit. Their buffalo wings are awful too. Dry and over-breaded and lacking on sauce. Bleck. I will never accept that anyone considers Dominos to be worthwhile, and nothing anyone can say will convince me to do so.

Considering human nature, and the last 10,000 years(ish) of history and what we know of it, "world peace" could only be accomplished by the extinction of the human race.
I completely agree with you, this one annoys the hell out of me.

Jack the Potato: What are opinions of other people you encounter in your life that you can't bring yourself to say "well I'll just have to accept it" and instead flat out REFUSE to see how anyone could think that way?
Lemme just go ahead and BAR the easy ones like racism and also any that are political or religious (go to Religion and Politics for that shit).
And please, let's keep it civil here. Let's pretend our caps lock keys don't exist in this thread. :P
For me:
Quaxar: Dare I say it? I hate alcohol and cigarettes. I guess a lot of it it comes with the job but really drunk people are mostly obnoxious and I want to punch them in the face, not to mention I haven't found any alcoholic beverage that I can even stand the taste of anyway. For the life of me I can't see any appeal in deliberately getting completely pissed. You lose the ability to even walk straight but at the same time think you're the most important person in history. And I despise the smell of cigarettes and how it's constantly blown in my face because every Tom, Dick and Harry smokes in this damn country (42% of over 15y, second only to Greece with 43%, EU-wide).
Also agreed, but this is a pretty commonly-held opinion amongst those who neither smoke nor drink.
Queen Michael: "It doesn't matter what you read as long as you do read." Not true. If an adult still isn't capable of appreciating any literature that's deeper than Mills and Boons (also known as Harlequin) novels, then that's a problem. Please note: I'm not saying that anybody who reads Mills and Boons novels is stupid. What I'm saying is that if that's the deepest you're capable of appreciating, you probably aren't very intelligent.
ambitiousmould: "call of duty is good and they are all new and different"
i hear this too often in my life. COD is crap, and they're all the same game with a new wallpaper.
Sexy Devil: How about Arrested Development? Community (before season 3)?
Never seen Arrested Development. I did see like 3 episodes of Community and I didn't really like it. Not because it's bad, just because it's not my sense of humor.
You guys don't have to convince me Walking Dead is good or whatever, by the way. If you enjoy these shows that's just fine. But since this was a thread about unpopular/unacceptable opinions, I thought I would throw mine in there. But it's just that. An opinion.
I'd wear that shirt, except I don't feel like getting spat on by the most pathetic people ever.
OT: Despite my previous statement, I have the unique* ability to see both sides of the argument and accept both sides, while maintaining my own opinion. I'll just go with what I feel strongly about.
(Illegal)Drugs. I see why people use them, why they like them (partly due to addiction), but it's just killing you, and you accept it! I talked to this one person and they said it "Stops the pain inside", which is a stupid way of coping.
I don't think I have all the details because most of my experience with people with drugs was in junior high, and they weren't the best at proving there point.

It's... edible I guess, but I don't care if it's a couple bucks cheaper, I will always be willing to pay a few bucks more for pizza that isn't shit. Their buffalo wings are awful too. Dry and over-breaded and lacking on sauce. Bleck. I will never accept that anyone considers Dominos to be worthwhile, and nothing anyone can say will convince me to do so.
Mezmer: All Anime/Manga will never be able to escape the trap of having completely convoluted plots, and unrelatable, emotionally primitive characters.
You only mention shonen manga/anime. Have you ever tried antyhing intended for an adult audience? I find that while I'm bored by shonen, I really like josei (for adult women) and seinen (for men).
I really hate it when people believe that muslims are taking over the world. It's so extremely stupid! Just because many immigrants (at least in europe) are muslims doesn't mean that they're taking over the world.

I can't say I'm familiar with such manga. How is it different?

You can find drama and/or thirllers that don' go in so much for the stereotypical manga style, if you understand what I mean. For instance there's Eagle: The Making of an Asian-American President. It's a story about a Japanese journalist called Takashi Jo who's writing a story about presidential candidate Kenneth Yamaoka as Yamaoka tries to become president of the USA. Jo spends pretty much all his time with Yamaoka to make sure he'll have the info he needs in order to write well. Thing is, Yamaoka is secretly the reporter's father, so that complicates things since Jo spends time with Yamaoka's family and can't reveal his relationship with Yamaoka to anyone.
It's a really great political thriller.
Another one:
Sanctuary. It's about two childhood friends, Hojo and Asami. Hojo is working his way up towards a top position in the Yakuza, while Asami gives his all to his career as a politician. Both of them are trying to rise to the top, but on different sides of the law.
These are really, really good comics, but they're not easy to find. Just make sure to check them out if you get a chance.

Now consider, if you will, that there aren't any other pizza places around. Would it still be so hard to see why it could be an option? I'd actually agree with you if I had a choice.
Anyway, for mine: The "fact" that the universe is 14 billions years old and other BS like this. We definitely don't know enough to accurately measure such things, and yet they seem to be taken for granted. And don't even think of defending this one with quantum anything.
You're not the only one, mate. I, too, loathe cigarettes. With one exception, I would never even consider dating someone who smokes at all, let alone engages in chain-smoking (which, to me, is incredibly gross). And as for drinking, I do not see the point in having more than the occasional drink, let alone getting drunk.
Seriously, when I saw someone on this site say "smoking has an eloquent taste" several months ago, I almost choked on whatever I was drinking at the time (knowing me, some faux iced coffee) and laughed out loud. Don't ever get me started on smoking. I don't just hate it, I can't help but look down upon most people who do it. The only exceptions to that are my work-mates, a friend (or rather, a former friend but that's for other reasons) and customers who happen to be very friendly when buying their fix from me, as opposed to being pricks about it. I especially think the ones who actually demand them from me ("I want my smokes, boy!" "Smokes!" etc) should be strapped to a bed and deprived of all sources of nicotine cold turkey.
I tried smoking. Twice. Just don't see the point in it.
I know better than to bite the hand that feeds me though, so when a co-worker offers me a ride home from work and smokes while driving, I don't really care. I even man the till while they have smoke breaks because I'm just that nice.
A opinion that I don't agree with mmmm? Well, I have one. When someone refers to football as the 'beautiful game.' Its not in anyway and as soon as that phrase is said I tune them out and ignore them.
Oh I just though of this if you think Pluto is still a planet you're part of the problem. You might ask the what problem? Well that's kind of the point.

You are right, we don't know enough to accurately measure such things. Accurentely is the key word. The scientific community has a current estimate that it's 13.75 plusminus 0.11 billion years. With estimate being a key word. That estimate has some pretty solid grounds, though.
O.T That every opinion is worth equally. Not every opinion is worth equally. Some opinions are plainly retarded. " I think people X shouldn't be allowed to do Y because Z said so/makes me feel uncomfortable " is a retarded opinion. A guy I know thought I was gay because I defended them. I mean come on, I defended a black dude once and i'm not black. Do you have to be X to protect X ?
On the off chance some one might respond: Don't hyperbole it like saying : "Well should childmolesters be allowed to molest childs because it makes me uncomfortable ?" Because using Hyperbole never helps in an argument.
Relish in Chaos: -People that "hate" or wish death on Justin Bieber. I mean, really? I can understand not liking him, but flat-out hating the guy? What the fuck did he ever do to personally hurt you? Or are you just jumping on the bandwagon? Just because you feel butthurt about not having success after all your hard work doesn't mean you should take it on a young man who is no more deserving of criticism than any of the other pop hacks out there.
I am going to be a massive cunt for the purposes of this thread and not comment on any of your actual points.
OT: I cannot stand it when people think using the term "butthurt" is a good idea in any scenario. When I read it, I find it very difficult to take anything else they say seriously as they come across as being obnoxious for no good reason.
An opinion.
I think the joke with The Walking Dead is that everyone who watches it is still just waiting for it to get good.
The pilot was great, the rest... wasn't.
OT: 'HOOMAN REVLUTION ENDIN R JUS AS BAD AS MASS AFECT 3 ENDING Y U NO COMPLANE SO MUCH BOUT HOOMAN REVLUTION?'
Otherwise known as the, 'I have no concept of how to make an ending that's in line with the rest of the game' argument.
Oh, and that theory about ME3's ending is totally true. I mean, you don't need a 20-minute (to 90 minute or something ridiculous now) video to tell you that...

Come on, it's fucking obvious.
Oh, and any idiot who applies the 'RPG' tag to anything where you play a role (i.e. every fucking game ever made). That's just... stupid.
Broady Brio: OT: "I love Nirvana" - Someone "Good for you, I don't. I think they are terrible. I can't think of any song they have done except for Smells Like Teen Spirit. And even then it's the only thing I do hear from them."
Heh well Smells Like Teen Spirit was the last song written for the album... like a month or two before hand... and was even admitted to extensively being a Pixies rip off... the rest ofthe album had been done for at least a year... hell he had Polly done when he released their first album, Bleach...
Nevermind was their poppy album anyway... it's the one that got them a record deal... not to say it was a bad album it's usually just remembered for the hits, Smell's Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, ect... it still had some pretty cool stuff... like Lounge Act, Stay Away or Breed... which were a lot closer to punk than the rest of the album...<.<
But you'd be better of checking out In Utero... to get a good idea of the kind of stuff that Nirvana made... seeing as how the album was all over the place from short and furious punk to slow ballads and back to pure experimental noise rock ala Big Black...<.<

OT: anything having to do with Crunkcore or Hardcore being good... no just no...it's absoluetly attrocious and I feel like cutting myself whenever my roommates subjects me to that torture...
It's like 1000 effeminate, whinny, self absorbed teenagers screaming out in agony and than being suddenly silenced, and replaced with a really bad autotuned pop singer with no understanding on how to write a pop hook... or lyrics in general... and it's all over generic pseudo death metal riffs that just sound like some kind of jackhammer wailing away with no understanding of rythm or intricacy...<.<
and crunkcore is just indescribable agony on every single level imaginable... there's nothing more I can say about that...
and now that it's almost 5 and my brain I leave without spell checking!
You are aware that the PS1 came out 18 years ago right? As in the majority of the current cycle of gaming has happened since then and a entire (human) generation of gamers have been born and are off to university since the PS1 came out? I'm not asking in a "I can use Wikipedia and am thus teh smart" way either a lot of people myself included forget just how long its been and how much has changed since the PS1.
Personally I go by the decade rule where if a game still stands up after ten years I think its perfectly fine to call it a classic so yeah there are plenty of legitimate classics from that gaming generation.
My personal opinion that I cant accept is evolution not being real, as in I cannot accept that there is even any doubt left over its validity, it just makes too much sense and has too much evidence behind it for there still to be doubt over it.
