Daystar is British. That is both interesting and awesome. This is an awesome idea. Especially since you guys are known as the Escapist mascots.

This is news to you?

I've been British for quite some time :D

I only noticed you a few months ago, surprisingly. You do seem to act like your posts in the podcast, by the way.

Fair enough then :D

If anything, I at least like to think of myself as genuine.

That is to say, I don't act differently online than I do in the real world :D

That's enough prisonspeak from you, laddo.

Might be a slow day, but I don't know what you're referencing D:

So here's that thread.

Obviously I want this to do well as I'm a bloody participant.

I've now been designated the intro guy for the improperly named second podcast (shitcast, failcast, Britcast, wtfbananas...)

Well we're not quite sure what you are yet, so I think it's quite fitting :D

It's something me and the other shitcast regulars have talked about.

I'm happy to take that job.

The Cast With No Name :D

Actually having a "panel" of Escapists comment on some of the more controversial topics on the forum would be really interesting. Well to me at least.

How do you guys do the recording / collaboration, via Skype?

Skype and timed Audacity recordings.

It actually comes together really well.

That is when you don't have catastrophic technical difficulties like we had last night. _

Like Binnsy said, but for the main one we used Ventrilo.

The main thing is Audacity, which records the sessions for each individual so it's much easier to edit.

Then where'd you learn that trick with the soap?

Then where'd you learn that trick with the soap?

From my days in the Space Circus.

We toured the galaxy, entertaining the alien masses with my soap trickery.

Interesting; well I was impressed by the quality.

I have to record training sessions I conduct online at work with different our offices around the world and we use GotoMeeting and that thing crashes quite a bit.

Terrible creatures, will devour a man whole.

I had a job training space peanuts when I was a lad. Pay was shit but I got all the free raincoats I could eat.

Pretty damn cool idea. Shame that my voice doesn't lend itself too well to audio, it's far far too Irish.

I'm sure you can put on a little received pronunciation :D

Or I could just get drunk. Give me a bottle of Bushmills and I'm articulate as hell....in between the retches that is. Sure those could just be edited out anyway! ^_^

Don't think your clever little euphamisms can disguise your filthy mind at work.

:D

hazabaza1:
seems fairly fun, at least for background noise stuff. Could use a bit more direction in terms of topical discussion, but hey, it's the pilot.

Yup. This in a nutshell.

I just think that it needs more conversation material.

I'm also with the idea you guys suggested about doing Community Spotlight type-things with forum guest stars. That would be neat. :D

Anyway, keep up the good work. I'll look forward to moar episodes.

Give me a bottle of Bushmills

On a community project budget? You'd be lucky to get a bottle of metho with an old teabag added to give it colour.

Shit cast could really be a big deal if you put a kind of wonderful music to introduce the podcast, regardless of the scattershot presentation. The Communicast felt official when you put in that lovely tune before you started talking.

As for the Communicast... I like it, but I don't think I contribute enough to the Escapist to really get any sort of involvement to it.

My topics of life never go much farther than:

-Earthbound
-The Electric Light Orchestra
-Some movie I took some time to sit and watch and talk about.
-Movie news
-Singing
-Acting
-Maybe some game that looks cool that I haven't played yet.
-Maybe some game that I've played and want to talk about but its too old to discuss.

and maybe a random hot button topic.

I suppose, you could treat it as the video game/movie/music thread. It would be like the off-topic discussion thread, but with voices.

Maybe grab a random news story and talk about it, collect some ideas from everybody before recording, so you know what to talk about during the podcast.

I would recommend reading random posts from whatever you refresh from the Escapist community, maybe you'll say something funny in the process.

Kind of dry on topics. I only listen to Destructoid's old podcasts, and every Idea I have is from their podcasts, so I'm not much help.

If you post a link to the youtube account that will have these podcasts, I'll favorite them, and try to listen to them with regularity.

I see.....

Make a Lyons teabag and you've got yourself a deal!

... I like them. Especially Daystar's ridiculous Britishness. Though i'm not sure how in the crap you'd organise your list of people for each podcast.

(I'm just sad i'm not popular enough to be one). Also, not enough talk about dildos.

You'll have to beg one off a tea drinker... Can't stand the stuff. Ruins the taste of my metho.

Through intimidation and emotional blackmail... ask any stage manager.

Seriously? You mean this podcast is being run by a bunch of amateurs with abilities equal to a local McDonalds manager? There are far more effective ways of doing it! Pah! Blackmail - Schmackmail

...Suddenly i'm reassured, improvisation and winging it are the 2 great symbols of a great management system!
