You must move to a country that borders your own, forever - which do you pick?

I live in the U.S., but my family is Canadian, so I would probably head that way.

I currently reside on an island. Your move.

Read the entire OP. Your move. ;)

I hang my head in shame good sir.

No need, my good man! You were not the only one, and the OP is a bit wordy.

I'm Australian, so I have the options of either, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Indonesia or New Zealand. Sheep ahoy then!

Dudes, your forgot one country in your list, which is Switzerland

Which, incidentally, is my country....now we have a fair amount of countries to pick from

France: Better for me as we share a language, but i hate the politics and general attitude over there. Still, have some friends who live there

Germany: I forgot almost all my german, but I love the country. Biggest problem would be game censorship though...and having to buy everything in import

Italy: Nice country, but too much of a barrier language, also too hot.

Austria: Hey why not, although again, barrier country and I know next to nothing about that country.

Liechtenstein: Austria x 10.

If I could bend the rules, I'd go maybe belgium...or if i could REAAALLY chose...Uk. I love the Uk. I wanna hug it and put a bowtie around it's neck and call it scruffy.

UK here. I'd for either Ireland or the Netherlands.

Well I'm from Northern Ireland, that leaves me with the Republic, England, Scotland and Wales...

Hmmm, It would come down to Scotland or Wales, with England in third and the Republic last.

Canada. Like everyone else, I am not exactly eager to spend the rest of my life in Mexico.

Germany is wonderful. We have the best beer except Poland and Czech Republic, we have awesome food, great music festivals, we had Beethoven, Goethe and Schiller, great cars, one of the best football teams ever (I will not call it soccer, cause it's football and american football is not football it's basically rugby with a misshaped ball) aaaaand we don't have death penalty.

And I think that's the reason I'd choose Austria. Cause it's almost like Germany but without game censorship and you can buy all the German stuff there too. And the Vienna State Opera House is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture ever made.

Switzerland is cool too, very peaceful, nice landscapes, awesome chocolate and way nicer people than in Vienna for example. Still I'd choose Austria... Salzburg I think.

SanAndreasSmoke:

EDIT: Fine, let's keep this interesting for the rest of you fellow Americans. WHERE in Canada would you move?
Jesus, so much for my brilliant thread topics.

How specific do you want? I've got a lot of friends in Ontario, but narrowing it down to a single city might be a problem.

Well I live in the UK but I'm from Poland...So I'll roll with Poland.

That means I'd like to move to Germany. Just because a lot of my family lives there and it's a pretty chill place.

Canadian here.
I'd probably move to the US to stay in my comfort zone, but to make things more interesting, I'll say Russia. I already speak the language decently and I love their food.

До свидания, неудачники!

I'd move ot canada, cause Mexico is only a country with "government" because the cartel cant be bothered to just officially say they run the country and make laws.

As to where... I dont know. to one of the english Providences. Maybe to the city of toronto or outside it. Just a place that gets reasonably warm int he summer. Though Id never be a leafs fan.

Norway. It's like Sweden but richer and less known, even though their women are equally blonde and equally hot.

Yay I get to go to Canada! If I have to be specific I would move to Vancouver. I live just south of Seattle so it wouldnt be that much different. I never thought that I would be this excited to fake move to a different country, but my congress has just recently said that protesting is low level terrorism, so I think I am done with the US.

Saladfork:
Well, being Canadian, I think Russia's pretty close, and honestly I think I'd be cool with living there... so long as someone could transplant some kind of knowledge of the Russian language into my brain.

Okay, lesson #1: Two, three and four are considered singular. In cursive, "t" is written "m". And " to sew" is pronounced shit.

You're good to go!

Well I'm Australian, so about the only reasonable choice for me is New Zealand, nearly the same as Australia, so it'll do.

Volan:

Back at you. Australia and New Zealand don't actually border anything, so I could just as easily say Fiji or somewhere similar.

weeeeell, we also border Indonesia, but the heat'd kill me (and so would the mozzies)

April Hannah:
From the US so either Mexico or Canada. I think it's obvious I would go with the safety and health care of Canada. I just don't speak French and I imagine that would give me some trouble.

Quebec may be the only province that would be troubling to move into without a basic grasp of French, but I wouldn't see it being that difficult to transition. French is Canada's other primary language, but it is predominantly English anywhere but Quebec.

It would be very hard for me to switch nations, but I think I would actually move to America. No offense to Americans, but I just prefer my home nation. I do have other countries to pick from but America would probably require the least amount of readjustment, I would only need to be mindful of which state I choose. You know, same sex laws and that kind of stuff.

Winnipeg, nice fishing.
Also, not anywhere in Mexico because I don't enjoy the idea of being kidnapped by a drug cartel.

Swede here. I'd probably move to Denmark, because it would be easy to move there. I live less from an hour away.
Do I need a more sophisticated reason? I hate moving, okay?!

I expect to see a lot of "I'd move to Norway" coming out of fellow Swedes, and I would probably choose it too if it weren't for the proximity and my, if not vast then at least decent, amount of knowledge about Denmark. Norway is probably one of the best countries in the world to live in as far as I know and have been told.

Well, I guess Korea is the only choice that makes sense. Cheaper than Japan, form what I've heard. Language might be a problem, though...

Not the USA? Well, Britain if I'm allowed to skip past Greenland. If not... Well... I choose Russia!

Don't know how that would work out...

Redlin5:

According to the rules in the OP, only the closest 2 countries by sea are permissable if you have one land border (which is okay too). Russia isn't an option. Neither is Brittain.

The options are actually U.S.A., France (St. Pierre et Miquelon) and Denmark (Greenland).

felbot:
well I am Swedish so Finland obviously, where else would I go? Norway? if I did that then id probably end up laughing at the way they speak to much, kinda like I do whenever I see hear from skåne.

I envy you, Senor Swedish man, with your nordic borders (in contrast to my Germanic, ex-borders). I shall take consoltation of the chance to stalk Kai Wiesinger; but I shall weap at the absense of funny Norwegians in my future country, and I shall grow angry at the fact that I would be in a country surrounded by other countries that drink mead but doesn't drink mead itself.

ExaltedBlizzard:
As an Israeli, I must say-

HAHAHAahaha. Good one. :P

Oh crikey this guy had me in crying stitches. The majority of Australian posters (before this thread was ammended for the sake of island states) weren't near this good.
Say, if I reported this post for moderator review; would the mods use a 1-5 star rating, a decimal base-10 score, or is it alphabetically graded from A to F? Either way, I reckon you'd get top marks for your post.

Now if you excuse me, I have some stoumache cramps to attend to.

Canada, I'm less likely to be shot in the face by gang bangers or hung from a bridge by drug cartels in Canada than Mexico.

Professor Lupin Madblood:
Well, I live in Canada, so there's really one option.

France.

(Yes, I'm serious.)

I was about to mention that loophole!

In Labrador, we have a French colony called Saint Pierre and Miquelon. Thus, we border France.

I'll go there.

i live in canada, edmonton specifically, sooo I guess i'll have to go to nova scotia. Thats far enough away right?

I'm probably the only aussie here that would prefer indonesia (Bali to be particular) over New Zealand. Sorry NZ, love your country, been there a couple of times. But your summers are too damn cold for me!

Volan:

BathorysGraveland:
Being Australian, I guess New Zealand is the only logical place to turn. It always seemed to me to be a better country than Aus anyway, so I would have no qualms about it.

Back at you. Australia and New Zealand don't actually border anything, so I could just as easily say Fiji or somewhere similar.

So Australia it is. I do love it there, despite being a Kiwi.

Another Australian here, New Zealand, here I come.

I can only really go to Ireland or France.

France is nice enough, but gorramit I'm moving to Ireland. I want to anyway.

I'm surprised at all the Australians who say their only option is New Zealand, without even a passing mention of Indonesia or Papau New Guinea, although I suppose it makes sense since those countries aren't white.

I wouldn't mind living in Jakarta. That way I can pretend there was a point to my learning Indonesian.

I have a choice between Poland, Russia, Belarus and Latvia.
Oh god, no, please no.
If i must, Latvia.

Canada. Nice people and no bloody wars with drug cartels.

I will move to Ireland half Irish here and have family there so not really a big deal.

Well luckly, Canada has some nice German communities that I can go live with, while Mexico does not. That pretty much just sells it for me. I tend to go where my people are.

Mexico or Canada. Wow, such a tough choice.
