Newest Trailer for RWBY Black

A sword holster that is a gun that shoots swords but still also shoots bullets.

That was my review.

So a female version of a combination of Squall from Final Fantasy 8 and Yuna from Final Fantasy 10-2 teams up with a version of Vergil from DMC3...

Very entertaining. Rubi is still my favorite, however.

I liked the visuals but the sound wasn't as good as last time. The music wasn't as good as the last 2 and the voice acting wasn't fantastic.

In the words of a certain well-known critic who occupies our site: It could only be more awesome if it had tits and was on fire.

Danm ninja I was gonna made a thread on it! Oh well.

Anyway Black wasn't what I was expecting. I thought she would had a whip (althought I kind of right that she still used a string/ range like weapon) but I did knew she would have a partner since she's based from Beauty and the Beast. In saying so I did not expect her to be Japanese related nor to have a ridiculous and over the top weapon! I mean White weapon wasn't as extravagant compared to Red in a good way.

Also the voices was somewhat fine, Black is fine but not the guy (the say he said "perfect" sound like he said it too hard).

The music is ok but I thnik the past two were better (I probably have to listen to it more).

Now I wonder when Yellow trailer will be uploaded.

Well they can make some cool looking fight scenes but I feel like this series (from the trailers anyway) is missing charm or character somewhat. The voice acting isn't bad but it doesn't really seem to fit and overall the production feels like its kind of lacking something, I can't really put my finger on what. I understand that these trailers are just to hype people up with over the top fight scenes, but I'm finding it quite difficult to develop any interest in this show from them. It doesn't help that I don't like the animation style at all either.

Well at least you noticed beforehand. I spent ten minutes writing a rant and came back from posting it to find this one already up :P

OT:

Not bad, but not my favourite. Ending wasn't very fleshed out and hopefully the voice acting improves over the series.

My entire rant, compressed to two sentences. Hm.

Edit: The full rant, for those who wish to read it

So, how are they gonna make these crazy cinematics into actual gameplay? Anyone can make nice action scenes, but they have yet to show gameplay footage. I can't see myself getting hyped over this until they do.

Also, the voice acting was pretty meh.

It was a trailer for an upcoming Roosterteeth series, not a game. Sadly.

And the voice acting was pretty meh.

Their premiering the first episode at RTX in July so it will probably be pretty soon

Meh, I think R and W did it a lot better. I wasn't a fan of the dialogue in terms of voice acting or script, and I was rather frustrated by the combat if only because it felt like they were making decisions about it during the fight rather than truly planning it out. "It's a cleaver! Strike that, it's a sword inside a sword! Which can be thrown on a ribbon! And turns into a gun! Which can be shot at a distance by pulling the ribbon!" At least Red and White gave a little forewarning that something was about to change.

It's a trailer for video series. Thus the fact that they do nice action cinematics is good.

True. That was some House of the Dead level of voice acting. OK, not the worst what HotD had to offer but it was just...the best of it, which was really meh.

And who was Black supposed to be modelled after? I'll admit, so far, I've only watched the trailers so maybe I did the wrong assumption, but the previous two seemed to be based on fairytale hero(ine)s but I can't figure Black out.

The voice acting needs work, but I could see it improve before release and as the series continues. The writing at Roosterteeth for RvB and their other shorts has been steadily improving.

I like how they have been slowly introducing, different aspects of the show with each new trailer. The first one was simply action with little context, the second gave the character a voice(possibly?) as well as additional context to what is going on. This 3rd one contained actual dialogue(though again it is a bit sketchy at the moment) and more story in general.

Also now with 100% more pants.

10/10 would slash.

OT:

looked nice.
did not sound nice.

the voice acting needs work and the rock-y music was just grating.

Still interested, though.

Ah, that makes more sense. Now I kind of wish it was a game.

Is it just me or did this seem more like "Adam's Trailer" than "Black's Trailer"?

I swear it seemed as though Adam was taking most of the spotlight and out-classing Blake (I still think that's weird name for a woman btw).

Voice acting and the rest of the audio still needs work, and this is my least favorite of the three so far.

I'm not sure if the script was the worst part, or the delivery. I mean...ow.

On the flip side, I think I actually liked the action in this one the best. And I liked the bladegun. It's like a gunblade...but the opposite.

I'm not familiar with either but I find it interesting that this trailer broadens the possible story line away from all the girls being single operatives. I wonder if Yellow will also have a partner or a team.

Unlike apparently everyone else here this was my favorite trailer. The first was nothing but a cliche anime girl slaughtering mobs of mooks with a ridiculously large weapon she pulled out of her g-string. The second was more interesting in that it suggested White lives/exists in 2 worlds simultaneously.

This trailer offered the first tell tale signs of an actual "Story".

Also I liked the music here more than the other two.

Lessee, that's me vs 21 other posts...

...

Come at me, Bros!

:D

I really liked the visuals, and the combat animations made me pretty excited. I went on to check out the previous two trailers, and they collectively gave me a Sucker Punch vibe, a movie I personally enjoyed.

The voice acting wasn't really great, unless they were going for the authentically bad dub..

That was...kinda shit compared to the previous two.

The music was meh
The voice acting was just...bad...

and why was the guy taking the spotlight from black? The previous two could stand on their own but Black needed backup for some reason?

This one loses points for the weak dub but the action and enemy design in this trailer is by far the best of the three.

It looks as good as the other trailers, but the voice acting just sounds... awful.

I REALLY hope that the acting improves for the series proper... I'm in love with the art style and animation. I really am. It'd be a shame if the voices just ruined it.

Also, a cool effect I noticed: as Blake speeds around the battlefield, she leaves afterimages behind, which makes it seem really... I dunno, speedy.

I feel like I should be impressed but it feels so meh kinda lame too idk I just don't find it as good as the previous ones.

Samual did it first. Or at least the idea of using a gun to fire the sword out.

Actually, I got a very MGR vibe from this trailer. Half expected Raiden to show up...

I feel like all the hype from the trailer is giving me a bad vibe; I hope no one takes offense to this but it just feels like there is such a thing as there being too much action, thus far, it seems like that's all they're focusing on. I'm familiar with the creator's work (Dead Fantasy, his segments in RvB, the Samus and Spartan battle) and he's always struck me as a bit flashy but light on substance. It's like bars of chocolate; sure, eating a lot of bars may seem appetizing initially but you get ill if you eat too many which makes most people stop. Likewise too many awesometacular fight scenes and things just start running together - I already have a feeling I'm going to fail to be invested in the series proper if this is all they're going to offer.

EDIT: Also, yeah, forgot to mention the voice acting. I pretty much agree with everyone else considering it felt really awkward IMO.

Dat voice acting. The guy's is bad, like rushed English dub for a hardly wanted anime series, and someone the female's is even worse.

Can't take it seriously.

I'll take your jet-stream Sam and raise you a Gai Rei Zero...
Anyway, the more I watch, the more I see the shows anime and videogame influences. The characters are from BRS, the weapons are from FF, and the combat is an insane mix of ninja gaiden and DmC.
This creates some truly awesome fights, but I worry for the story...

yeah this ones the weakest of the 3 so far. I get the impression they rushed it out a bit to meet the PAXEast deadline or something. Since there was like 3-4 months between Red and White and what...maybe 1 month since white?

It still looks good but didn't really impress me like the other 2 did. Blake's weapon seems less streamlined then the Scythe-Rifle or Magic-Rapier. So its a double-sword-gun-on-a-rope-thing...not as flashy as the others, ESPECIALLY when the katana/gun-sheath from the other dude over shadows it.

And yeah the voice acting is meh, but that just supports the "this was rushed" thing

Still yet to see anything at all regarding RWBY (Worst title ever by the way) that interests me in the slightest. A standalone series made primarily by Monty Oum, the man who ruined Red Vs Blue? No thanks.

Oh God. Dialogue. Also, voice acting.

Also, I have a question:

WHAT IS IT?

Am I looking at the trailers for an anime or a hack-and-slash game? Or something else?

Zhukov:

Yes, I think you guessed correctly. Or to be more precise, it's going to be some sort of series that takes heavy hints from anime and from fighting games and...that's all I know about it. The creator's previous works include Haloid (Halo vs Metroid) and the Dead Fantasy series (Dead or Alive vs Final Fantasy). I think they aren't a huge deal different from RWBY (ok, trailers alone) it just leans more towards video games. RWBY, from what I know, is supposed to also have stuff like plot.
