You picked 'em, so tell us why?
I think mine are pretty self explainitory. Rain a ninja from Mortal Kombat. I don't know why I like Rain so much as a secondary character away from Sub-Zero and Scorpion, but to me he always holds a place in my heart. Prince of Edenia and demi-god of the relms, hired ninja assassin. That's pretty cool. But why dress in purple?!

Because real men wear purple...

I am a firm believer that firepower can carry the day. Star Destroyers are dead sexy, and dangerous to boot. The only thing sexier is Super Star Destroyers... Also, I am writing a fanfic in which "Darth Mobius" is a Pirate Sith Lord with a fleet of Star Destroyers... Last Commander of a fallen Sith Realm. Think Jack Sparrow on the Bridge of a Star Destroyer, with some James Bond ingenuity

My avatar is the !Forward Russia! logo which I've always though was super cool. Although, I did used to use a different one. It was basically the same as the one I have now, except the exclaimation marks are orange and the background is black, (shameless plee) so if anyone has that image, or knows where it's hosted, I'd be very grateful if they could link it.

And my screen name is probably best not described, because I quite like not being banned. (And no, it's nothing to do with modifying passwords until not easily guessable.)

I used to allways have the username Fire Demon. But when I got into Warhammer I realised that they spell Demon by using the latin word Daemon. One of the reason why I chose this (but i didn't know it at the time I created it) is that it helps single out the idiots on XBL. I'm not saying that if people don't know what Daemon means then I instantly hate them but it helps me no the intelligence of the people I'm playing with.

I also think that it is fairly original and can be used in any game I play. For example in an FPS you could say that I use Heavy Machine Gun fire or in an RPG you could say I'm a.......Fire Daemon.

I chose the Reign of Fire avatar because it has fire and a dragon that could be a demon.

Also, call me Fire.

:EDIT: Damn i just found out a Fire Daemon is also a windows program. And I thought I was so original :(

Girlysprite comes from my hotmail address that I made a long, long time ago (12 years ago). My older brother was helping me getting around on the internet. Since my first name was already taken as an address, we decided to pick something else I liked. At the time I played a lot of heroes of might & magic 2, and I liked the sprites (fairies). We added girly (for the obvious reason) and thus Girlysprite was born. To this day I'm the only one one the internet with this nick. And yeah, if you goggle it, you can see the trail of forums I've been on.

I do not have one specific picture to go with it, though I really like this one (the glorious pc master race) and I have the BJ girl on another forum; http://www2.hku.nl/~hanneke0/nonweb/suck.gif

I have a number of avatar/user names combos out there in the wide ol' world of the internet.

I use Hey Joe not because I'm trying to get Joe's attention, but because of the Hendrix song (Hey Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand?), and the avatar came from a misguided attempt of creating on the Simpson's movie website. I wanted one that looked like me but ended up with the sleaziest looking avatar [bait]EVER[/bait].

I didn't want my name to mean anything, so I took the last name of my first D&D character. I just googled it now, while reading this thread, and I'm relieved to see it's original.

The picture is a display of my laziness. I just took one from the gallery provided by The Escapist. I just looked now, and they don't have the picture anymore, so I guess I'm unique now. I may design one at some point, but I've grown rather used to the green.

Untill we get Larenxis2506789ever, and we will(I'm calling it)

Me I just think the name is cool. Master swordsmen with plans of ruling the world?
I can sympathize.

My pic is the banner of the Knight's Templar so I guess when 2+2 isn't 7 everything is working out. But I was tempted to use mustang from fullmetal, as he is one of my favorite characters.

Ah the Escapist stock pictures, where would we be without them. My inner voice just screamed "GOOGLE IMAGES"

EDIT: Also, my favourite Game is Dues Ex- Invisible War, and I first heard of the Knights Templar there. Hated those Guys.

My names more or less my real name and just imagine the results if Kirby swallowed Kratos! CARNAGE!

Actually there is a joke in Decpetion about it. One of the Outworlders, who talk in backwards tounge, said something along the lines of, "Rain's the Prince, get it?" and another, "Rain's Purple. Wasn't there a song about that?"

Well, I wanted an Xbox live Gamertag that didn't have numbers. And as my usual name (Xanax) was taken, I Chose a Lizzard race that tried to take over part of the Galaxy. And i thought that it was easier to just have my Gamertag as my screen name for my selfish memory purposes.

And the pic, well, I love Starcraft, especialy the Protoss.

Yan-Yan is just Ryan, with the 'R' missing, times two. A friend at work started calling me Yan-Yan, and I've run with it.

My Avatar though, is something 'requisitioned' from a Bisexual website, to show my Gaymer Pride.

I used to always go under kid_a, for Radiohead reasons, but that was always taken so now I just use my real name. It's motivation to not be a dick, and the Internet without anonymity feels kind of cool. Since Google caches everything, maybe one day when I'm old I'll be able to look back and see all my writing.

To that end I'm going to leave some words I'm unlikely to use together in the future. Avatar, repugnant, Oedipus, complex. Anybody else want to leave something in the time capsule?

Nice touch Yan-Yan.

Mine is kinda self explanatory. My friends and I love Aliens (and Predator and many similar films) and quote it ad-nausea. Especially when playing an FPS. Were trying to get our gamer tags to be a version of Apone, Hicks and Hudson atm but as you can imagine they're pretty much all done already.

Oh, so that triangle inside the other triangle is in fact... Ugh... I won't be able to look at triangles the same ever again ~~

The name I divulged during a lunch break in middle school while trying to think of a name for my Death Knight-to-be MUD-character. I hadn't had lunch because it was something disgusting, hirsch-pizza (and as a peasant says in The Seven Samurai "Hirsch? You go blind if you eat that!"). So, I was hungry and suddenly the recepy for sponge cake slipped into my mind. 2 dl (deciliter) sugar... Oh! Dec, like ten, sounds sort of cool... I just added the last part for effect.

As for the Avatar, that's Nanaya from Tsukihime, the a conceptual character in the main character's head that wants him to kill. The idea of a "dark side" or more like an evil influence isn't exactly new, but in this instance it's actually a genuine part of the personality of the protagonist that he fights not to become, rather than something he can actually find and defeat. Your greatest enemy is yourself, sort of.

Also, I've always liked insane characters in stories. Partly because of how they get to say and do the things we sometimes would like to, and also because they are unpredictable. They're excellent plot devices since they can suddenly switch sides and not really think twice about it : )

When I was listening the the Hobbit on CD a few years back, I remembered hearing the narorator as named Rob Inglis. Whenever I hear that name though, it makes me think of spies and James Bond, so...I thought it was cool.

Yeah, like an in joke. I'd imagine as they were making it, they probably had a purple generic ninja and decided to call him rain for the above reason or visa-versa.

Actually, the two triangles represent the two different sexes (pink for female, blue for male) and the purple one in the middle shows the bisexual's (ie- my) overlapping attraction for both / either.

Or I guess if you really want to imagine it as polygonal sex, I won't stop you.

And my avatar is the TISM bunny with wtf in red letters across his face. I got bored and made it one day.

Fujin is a psudo-antagonist from Final Fantasy VIII. For most of the game, she seems to have some sort of speech impediment and is only able to speak in monosyllabic sentences, but towards the very end it is discovered that this is due to her lack of respect of the Heroes, not any actual problems.

Having a speech problem in real life (I'm mute) I somewhat instantly bonded with Fujin... but thanks to that insufferable Mortal Kombat, simple "Fujin" is ALWAYS taken... so I made up a last name for her to set me apart. I think it came from the first Final Fantasy Movie, where the scientist's name was Akari Ross.

I don't think that's the singular problem. Fujin&Rajin, the god brothers of Wind and Lightning are of ancient shinto mythology, and as such used eeeeeeverywhere. Mortal Kombat and FF8 are just 2 of thousands of places they have in popular culture.

Incidently FF8 is my favorite FF-game : ) Fujin's one-word lines aren't as strange in original japanese as they are translated. Basically she could be seen as extremely short and unceremonial in the japanese. The translation really made her an more interesting character. Sometimes problems become solutions ^^

It's from the cartoon, Metalocalypse, and it also appeared on GH2. When it first popped in my head, I liked how it sounded, and after I could link to three of my favorite past times, music, videogames and television, it pretty much sold itself.

Geoffrey42 is pretty straightforward. I'm proud of my uncommonly spelled middle name (at least in the States), and whenever Geoffrey is already taken, I add a 42. And when that's not available, I add something else.

Now, my dear, dear Flossy the avatar. Whether or not people remember it, Space Station Silicon Valley was a game that came out for the N64 where you were a robot, reduced to a microchip, whose only means of survival was inhabiting the robotic bodies of the other mechanical creatures on board (Rocket-firing wheeled dogs, floating sheep, remote control style rats, etc, etc). It was a great game, but also one I followed from early development all the way to release. Polished, it was not. But the game itself was great.

Flossy, as it turns out, is a piece of art produced by the makers of the game, with one of the standard in-game sheep, all dolled up. Ever since I found her, she's been my avatar far and wide.

Tiredinnuendo has been my name on just about everything for over a decade now. It used to just be Innuendo, but when I got a Comcast email address, I had to set it up as (something).(something)@comcast.com, and I picked tired because at the time I was setting it up, it was 3 AM.

The avatar is something I threw up while we were talking in the worst games ever thread and we started talking about Custer's Revenge. I usually try to change my avatars about once a month or so, and I have a stock pool that I usually draw them from.

I created this username for another forum, as my real name (Steve) was taken. I wanted to use a pseudonym that would be distinctive, which flashed me back to my brother sending away to one of those educational catalog companies under the nickname "Stuart Pid" just to see what junkmail "Stu Pid" would get in addition to his offer of a correspondance course in firearm repair. I realised that "Sue D. Nym" kinda worked as a valid name but the whole gender-bender issue was one I didn't want to tackle, so I went with "antonym" instead with the "P." middle initial as a nod to its "pseudo" origins.

The avatar is the emblem for the UESC Marathon, from Bungie's 1990's game of the same name and which I've (ab)used before.
