Ok, pick one thing that you thought "Man that would be cool if it were real" from any TV Show, comic book, video game, etc. and explain about it in a couple sentences.

The only rule is it must not be real already.

My thought is what if the Digimon duel system were real. It would be cool to have real, giant-sized monsters fight each other from cards that you place on a device attached to your arm. And I guess you would die a little inside after having lost 2000 life points, but it would still be cool.

Has anyone seen the movie Equilibrium? That society could be perfect if the authorities were not corrupt and made the same sacrifices with everyone else. A society where genders and races were equal, where no religions or ideologies would agitate people and where lust, greed and fear would not govern us, would be great.

Actually, that would probably suck.

Here I go again, arguing with myself. I seem to have two minds about everything.

I believe that's called schizophrenia, Mr. Finnished.

A holodeck. I have come to the conclusion that if one were invented, crime would drop. Psychotics, druggies and other people of questionable sanity would now be able to have simulated experiences that would prevent harm to the world. Of course, we won't notice, all being too busy in a Dead Rising simulation.

Magic. Is there any reason to explain this?

Awesome weapons. Nothing in particular, just those sorts of weapons that you see and think, "Man, that's so awesome."

MMORPG-style skill system. Think about it. You'll just be bowling, and all of a sudden, 'Ding! Level up!' You can now use mithril bowling balls and have access to the Doom Striker spell.

Then again, everyone'll roll shammies...

And I would have a chainsaw hand from Evil Dead. Chainsaw gun from Gears of War. Chainsword from 40k. And any other chainsaw based objects.

And here I thought it was only a slight case of schizoid personality disorder with some depression. Oh well, I'll just add it to my list. :(

And yeah, chainsaws are nice, although I've only used them to make firewood.

How about the Animus in Assassin's Creed? It would do everyone good to live through their ancestor's lives. It would probably prevent some delusions of grandeur, overgrown egos and repeated mistakes. I bet there is an abundance of embarrassing and even heinous stuff in everyone's pedigree charts.

It would also make you pretty careful, since your offspring could find out everything you ever did.

Personally, I'd pick Lum, from Urusei Yatsura.

Then, Jean-Luc and Deanna Troi from TNG.

Jean-Luc would adopt Lum and I, and utilize the Genesis machine to transform an uninhabited world into a giant, endless ocean with a single floating island. We'd all live together happily, living off fish and plants, and then go mad from B12 deficiency.

...

I'm so sad and alone.

-SWORD-CHUCKS! Just as dangerous to you as your assailant!
-Magic. Not the power of magic, one correct spelling of it. How many are there? 12?
-You know that animated piece of paper Malfoy threw at Harry in one of the movies? That. I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Novelist Eric Garcia's Anonymous Rex stories are based on the idea that six species of Dinosaur still live today, among us, hiding in suits of skin made to look human. If anything would be cool, it would be that.

That Yugi-Oh (spelling?) maze, where you stick down a card and make the monster holograms move where ever you wanted them to.

I can, however, tell you what would not be cool. Halo 3 warfare. Can you imagine real soldiers having tons of ineffective weapons, yet still be prepared to die for no apparent cause? And the only effective means of killing each other is being ran over by a vehichle or being beat to death with the butt of a gun...a battlefield where someone across the map would actually be like, "Oh snap, that guy has a shotgun. Better run over there and try to club him."

The ability to bend-time, like Prince of Persia style, but on a grander scale. Like jumping through time and stuff. Awesome.

I think I'm going to cross the line with this one:

I remember a joke where this alien slaps this guys forehead to make his penis longer and pulls his ears to make it bigger. When are we going to figure that technology out?

Hyperspace travel. I would love to be able to move to a new planet and live there, farther away from people certain people I don't like here. Just about everything Star Wars would be cool, except a civil war... That doesn't sound fun.

That wasn't a technology, it was evolution in that alien species. Get to it already, EVOLVE!

Maybe a tasp, form Ringworld. but that'd be crazy.
Iron Man's Armour with a built-in Portal gun. But the feat of such an awesome thing would be the envy and therefore target of every major government in the world.

Limit breaks, but only in an academic setting as they would be retarded everywhere else. Imagine the professor giving you back a failed term paper, and all of the pain and anger sends you rocketing forward to rip his throat out in a blast of fire and weird sound effects.

Realistically, I'd just like to have Altair's athleticism. It'd be awesome to have that degree of control over my body, and to have the strength to hold up my entire body weight with just my hands.

I'd probably abuse that... *quicksave* "Yes, that DOES make your ass look fat, Dave." *quickload* "No, I think your ass looks perfect!"

Alchemy, Ed Elric style >3

If you could turn a piece of metal into a cannon just by clapping your hands?? And you'd never lose at Dodgeball when you can summon random walls out of the ground...

And I'd love Pokemon to be real, too. No idea why, though. Just sounds like a cool thought.

If that existed I'd still have that one job in Seattle.

Oh hey, telling my boss that upper management's decision to release fucking beta software as final product is turning the entire support organization into a living hell, which is why all the experienced people are leaving, and that if upper management is going to blame the support reps for the metrics going into the toilet, upper management can, and I quote, "kiss my ass" (upper management being The President of The Company) - now that I think about it, that was probably what we call a "career limiting move." Thank god I paused and saved right before that meeting. Let's play that over again, shall we? And perhaps we'll try Stealth rather than Melee this time.

Also, reviews would be nice, you know, so you could kind of check something out before investing a lot of time and money into it.

"Here at ReviewMag.com, we were really looking forward to VoIP Startup. We were told that it made full use of next-gen technology, and the Hosted Telephony system looked particularly promising. Unfortunately, it never lived up to its promise. The Hosted Telephony interface is clunky and unintuitive, leading to a great deal of trial and error before we got the setup we wanted, and even then, some of the key features were simply unusable. The side-quests are boring and time-consuming, the NPCs are lackluster and frequently obstruct progress from level to level, and the leveling-up process itself appears to be largely random. Worst of all, Startup is riddled with bugs and glitches. Periodically the whole system would freeze, and collected resources and experience points would simply disappear. What we were hoping would be refreshing change from Microsoft's omnipresent Dash Trash turned out to be a complete waste of time that totally failed to deliver on its potential. We give VoIP Startup a 3.5."

It's interesting that all of this is based on "wouldn't it be cool if *I* had access to this thing". None of this stuff would be particularly cool if you were still the lowly human in a world of magic, and uber-weapons. Except for save points, those would be cool all around, though it raises an interesting question about chaos theory. If I save, would it reset the entirety of the world, since my actions inherently affect everything in some small way?

Uhh, I would like to have pokeballs or the portal gun.

What if rapture were real, but it was well-kept? A tourist attraction?

Or, Black Mesa/ Apeture Science.

Or what if the Rainbow 6 Vegas and Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 storylines actually happened? Sure, plenty of people would get killed, but it'd be kinda cool.
