Skins Series 2

Well now that the second series of Skins has finished showing on E4 I figured I'd see if anyone here watched it and what they thought of it if they did.

After the fun, frolics and parties of the last series (excluding most of 'Effy' and the finale of course) this time everything seemed a bit dismal, and wasn't really what I was expecting. It seemed that it really progressed into more of a drama than a comedy and I'm not ashamed to say I found it pretty moving at times.

I do however have a couple of issues: I much preferred Tony's character in the first series, him being a manipulative bastard was what made a lot of the series interesting. I also didn't like Cassie's character this series, I thought she was better when she was all dreamy and innocent instead of poisonous and vindictive.

Anyway that's my few thoughts, what are yours?

I really liked the first series of skins than the second it just seemed to be so fake.

I'm the only one of my friends who doesn't watch it.

I've met one of the guys from the show. Don't know his name, he was spotty with brown hair?
He came to my drama class and we had to pretend to be in is bed. Good times.

This series was about when life got 'real' for them, it was not meant to be pretty and happy. At least that's what I thought. Are you from the US? In Australia we finished sometime midyear.

I just got the DVD so i plan on re-watching and Season 1 is playing again on SBS in Australia.

I loved the show. I realy liked how mooving the second series was and how they handled "a drama about teenagers" thing realy well and it did not once seem to be cheesy or trying to teach us a lesson.

I found it hilarious when Sid started singing at the end though that was so unexpected, even more that he is a briliant singer.

I agree with you about Tony though. Especially seeing his charecter in About a Boy the opposite kind of charecter was great but they still pulled off his change well. As for Cassie i though she was awesome no matter what but she still seemed kind of a secondary charecter although she was in the main group. She became better when she moved to America.

The new season will be realy wierd though with most charecters gone and Effy and some others taking up the main positions.

I watched some of the first season when it was on tv here in Aust. Pretty good show. I find it much more interesting than the American shows that aim at the same age group. The OC? Gossip Girl? 90210? Pale in comparison in my book.

I've never liked the show.

People my age are bad enough without a glamourised, melodramatic show giving them ideas on how to escalate. And yes, I do believe that people are stupid enough to let shows influence them.

Then again, I also hate soaps in general, I just don't see the entertainment value in something like that.
