Paperboy Posts: 34 Joined: 8 Sep 2007 | G4 wasn't that bad in the earlier days. They actually improved it when they sacked Judgement Day, X-Play's "annoying little brother" show. But later on when they added Cops, Cheaters, and other shit, I actually was glad I stopped getting the channel. |

Muckraker Posts: 237 Joined: 22 Jan 2008 | as much as i hate to say it g4 is certainly doing one thing right. code monkeys, i love code monkeys which makes me think g4 doesn't make it. i LOVED judgement day when it was on, well at least one of the guys on it i liked, arena i also enjoyed but i sort of discovered it as they began taking it off the schedule. yeah when i saw "cheaters" was on i did a real "WTF" moment, i thought it was jsut cheat at first but even that show has disapeared as bad as it was it was about video games. infact aside from code monkeys none of the shows on g4 that are watchable have anything to do with games. this is an unabridged list of anything i'll watch on g4, i don't care if you put a gun to my head i won't watch anything else. -code monkeys man what happened, doesn't anyone like gamers anymore? it seems like we've been abandoned by all the people who used to kiss our ass. gamestop, g4, even the developers seem to be pretty uninterested in us at times these days. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1767 Joined: 22 Apr 2008 | do they even show code monkeys anymore? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2743 Joined: 23 Apr 2008 | Man do I miss those days. Code Monkeys I actually enjoy watching. Has its moments. But still, I want Techtv to return. Hell Adam Sessler's Mom says "I miss techtv. Those really were the good'ol days" |

Paperboy Posts: 16 Joined: 18 Mar 2008 | I do enjoy more episodes of X-play during the week. But I would like more actual reviews done each episode. AOTS has it's moments thought it will never live up to the Screen Savors. Code Monkeys is awesome. It seems that they show Cops & Cheaters because they need something cheap to make money off of. The execs drove the station into the ground. I didn't care much for Electric playground, but I did like Judgment day. TechTV was the reason my family upgraded to Digital Cable. Now I barely watch TV. |

hell yes....but now G4 has ninja warrior, duty free tv, theyre gonna have spaceballs the show. basically they have sold out, even x play; they used to have 3-4 reviews a show now they only have 1-2, they're not funny anymore, they basically sold out. AOTS is still awsome , but it could be better (do they still do dvdusday?) |
Paperboy Posts: 47 Joined: 2 Mar 2008 | Duty Free TV is basically the only thing I watch, although bits of AOTS or X-Play or Cheat if they're on. Man, I love Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 93 Joined: 28 Feb 2008 | I still would watch X-Play if I could. I still get the podcast, but I don't bother with their interviews or previews: just their reviews. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 435 Joined: 3 Mar 2008 | I also think they should replace Ninja Warrior with Viking Challenge. It's basically a more hard core Ninja Warrior, but still. And the Ninja Warrior usuals: Kazuhiko Akiyama, Makoto Nagano, Toshihiro Takeda, and Shingo Yamamoto also make appearances. |
On the Record Posts: 6226 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | I remember I found G4TV on New Year's day in 2005. I was smiling with joy when i found a gameing channel for us gamers and geeks. What does G4 even stand for? I've got Gadgets, Gameing, and can't think of the other things. The Cops and Cheaters shows are just a waste of air time, but I do like Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke. And Code Monkeys when I watch it. Really annoyed me when they kept on showing Star Trek also. I personally like the new Xplay a little more than the others mainly so I don't have to watch all of the reviews of games that nobody cares about. Seriously, before they were reviewing games that were either Anime based or some other crap that noone even knew was going to be released. Now they actually review games I care about (most of the time) and they have interviews, previews, and my personal favorite segment "Will Work For Games". Of course, i'm a young gamer, so i probably don't understand your pains. But the feel of the show is a bit more bland than the original. |
Paperboy Posts: 36 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 | I loved G4 back in the day. Cheat! with Corey Rouse, Filter with Diane Mizota before the pop culture and holiday BS, Blister, Judgement Day (liked Electric Playground, too), Pulse (news), Portal, and Icons (pre celebrities). The merger ruined it. "Attack of the Show" and "X Play" were the only good bits. Now it's not even gaming anymore! The Man Show, Happy Tree Friends, Cops, Star Trek, Cheaters?! It's become Spike TV's aborted little brother pending survival would've been mildly retarded and probably walked into the ocean looking for SpongeBob. |

Yeah, it's called G4 Rewind. If some of those shows get good ratings they'll consider new episodes of them. I personally hope for new episodes of Arena, Game Makers/Icons, and G4tv.com. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2693 Joined: 6 Jun 2008 | Agreed, X-play is still by far their best show and Attack of the Show! is fine. But pretty much everything else is crap. |

H I started watching G4 back when it was still Tech TV, and I loved it. It had great shows, like X-Play(then) and The Screen Savers (now AOTS.)
A It was the nerd channel, for people like me.
L Let me break it outline the shows as they were and as they are now-
I Filter- Dian Mizota was the host, and they did a top ten for stuff like Best story, Worst game, and Best graphics. After a brief dab into pop culture, they replaced Dian Mizota with Beth Ostrosky, and Best music with "Guys it's OK to hate" The show now exist as a 60 bit in the ads.
W The Screen Saver- Used to be a talk show for nerds, with neat gadgets and sites, cool events, and fun stuff like LAN Party thursday and Free Play Friday. Now it's Attack of The Show, and the Around the Net is just a collection of recent YouTube videos. Plus the occasional gimmick. They almost completely forgot about gaming.
A Robot Wars- Neat little show, sort of campy. Basically robot v. Robot in a fight to the death, in an unforgiving arena. It's gone now.
L-Arena- Cometetive gaming on TV. The first place I saw Kevin Periera. 2 teams go in, one team comes out. It was pretty cool, a nerds football game.
I- X-Play- The reason I started to watch the network to begin with. With funny and informative reviews, they cought my attention. With their funny skits, they got my laughs. With their complete shutdown of reviews, they earned my hate. They have 1, count it, 1 review per episode.
Of the original hosts, only Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, and Kevin Periera remain. Good shows have been replaced with Cops and Cheaters. This network really fell from 1337 to noob. Not "Newb" as in inexperienced or new, "Noob" as in just sucks.
