Curses! You've hit upon my secret plan to become insanely rich by breeding a race of giant beavers and moving to New Orleans. |

Aren't snails without shells called slugs. Also, i get the urge to run into a supermarket and smash everything up with a weapon of some sort. User was banned for: What are your favorite web-sites?. (Permanent) |

I can answer that since I live there. We don't, frankly speaking almost everyone I know dreams of living in New York but it is cheap living here and the odds of being in an actual tornado are low enough to merit taking the chance. I normally have weird thoughts but I don't want to share since I haven't had any caffeine yet. |

Whats the higest I could fall from and still survive? Why do people build $300,000 houses in flood planes? |

Tony Stark did it. In a cave. With a box of scraps. My crazy thought? What if we all see different colors? like where i see red, you see blue, but because of how we were raised we each believe we are seeing the same color! there is no way to test or disprove this, and it keeps me up at night. |

Yeah, but I also don't travel millions upon millions of light years to go see the tigers. And last time I checked, the tigers had been publicly shot, run over, or generally "made contact" with oo-mans a while ago. There's no reason they'd maintain this degree of avoiding contact I can think of beyond time travel concerns. |

You know? I've actually been thinking the same thing for most of my life. o_O Now here are my thoughts: * If you burp and fart at the exact same time, do you then get a vacuum in your belly? * What happens if you put a lightsaber against a mirror? * If you invent something, then go back in time and explain to yourself how you invented this new item as your past self where trying to figure out how to invent said item, what would then happen? * What would happen if you had gone back in time and brought your past self into your present, and then never ever send him back again? |

Well, if you had a flammable gas that increased the conductivity of free space, you could replace that with the acetylene. Then the gas would literally draw electrons from the cyborg whilst toasting it. Although, given the nature of the gas, it would probably be majorly toxic, corrosive and radioactive as well.
Nope, because the two channels aren't directly connected and the exhalation is performed by a spasm of the muscles rather than a pressure difference. No more mirror. The Photon Blade's heat radiation would distort the material before it had a chance to reflect or refract the blade. Closed loop paradox. No problem. Four theories: What, if anything, could cure the outbreak of Political Correctness without a descent into Political Incorrectness? |

There is a way to prove it statistically insignificant. Given that colours have a specific range of light in which to exist, we can determine that the light from certain objects is determined by a specific colour name; and the few of us unable to determine that have difficulties with other colours; therefore marking them as the probable mutation. |

Thats not really him having super powers or you could also count Batman as well. I'm talking powers that are actually of a biological nature. Another crazy thought, is it actually possible to die of laughter? |

You'd pass out, stop laughing, and start breathing, before you could die. Unless, y'know, you were so distracted from the laughing, that you walked off a cliff, or into a shark, or something.
Right question, poor follow-up. If humans interpret the various light wavelengths differently from person to person, the chance that we'd use the same colour pallete at all is rather slim. I reckon it'd be more likely that each person A would see the world in colours that person B can't even imagine. Except, really, it's a moot point, since, as I said, colour is only the way our brains distinguish between different wavelengths of light. Trying to draw comparisons between them would be somewhat akin to attempting to calculate the mass and density of a two-dimensional man. Although, a substantially more fun way to continue the question would be: if people see different colours, what happens to sound? |

Depends if it's called Eric.
:P Your mom. If people see different colours, sound wouldn't necessarily be affected as they use differing functions of the brain. Best way would be to ask a Synaesthetic though. |

Today I saw someone driving in a new one and I realized that pretty soon we were going to be in world not unlike the world in Mad Max. So, your going to want vehicles like Hummers then. Roads will deteriorate, and people will probably shoot you for a gallon of gas, so it will put Hummer drivers at an advantage for speedy, offroad getaways. |

Not that. People seeing different colours would imply that each human interprets signals in a different way. Person A might hear an octave higher than person B, for instance.
Er, if petrol is such a valuable resource, you'll be wanting a car that goes easy on the stuff. Hummers would be better suited to the landscape, but it doesn't matter if you've got a Harrier jump jet, if you can't get the thing to move. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 95 Joined: 27 Jun 2008 | I got another one, is there any actual, tangable reality? our atoms are held together by nothing, and our senses are just signals hitting our brain from waves and impulses. also, if antimatter is the anti-thesis to matter, what would dark matter be the anti-thesis to? what happens if matter and anti matter colided? what was before the big bang? or was there a big bang and it was just a previous universe the crushed in then rapidly expanded? And if this is true, how long was it crushed in? and what was the previous universe like? was it exactly like ours? or was it entirely different? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2273 Joined: 13 Sep 2007 | I've also wondered if we see the same colours, but there isn't really much you can do about it. I'll just leave you with the Xkcd comic on it. http://xkcd.com/32/ |

I don't get it... what if there aren't really any colours, and those that are colour blind really aren't clour blind, but the people that aren't colour blind are, becuase they're seeing colours that don't really exist. is a zebra blue with black and white stripes? |
Muckraker Posts: 340 Joined: 4 Jul 2008 | To iron mal, yes it is possible to die by asphixiation during racourious laughter(see yahtzee's fans) quite rare though. If I went back in time, can I fuck up the future(or present) or will god some how right it? If a helium balloon was let go, will it reach space? Is it possible to see a beam of light move? |

Quick answers. If you could, you could. No...atmospherics and gravity. Yes, but only from the side. |

Taking this concept and applying a mathematical value to the concepts could you develop a consistent map of language and then could you apply that map to other languages to establish a mathematically sound modern rosetta stone? |

Muckraker Posts: 249 Joined: 4 Jul 2008 | when if ever will people realize that money is COMPLETELY USELESS OUTSIDE A MAINTAINED ECONOMY, and thus stop putting proffit ahead of ecological safety and the good of mankind... after all... how far will currency get you when the air itself is an unbreathable toxic vapour? |
Paperboy Posts: 36 Joined: 29 Mar 2008 | probably around the same time the people rise up and disband the unconstitutional "federal" reserve, the banks, losing the safety of the fed, stop creating money without true representation, and then finally the US gov't observes the the sovereign state of the Empire of California. So in other words about 10 minutes after the air becomes toxic vapour and we reflect on our fleeting lives with the last few seconds of lucidity. |
