I've never walked out of a movie (cos I always go with company, and it's rude to leave them) but I was watching Hidalgo on DVD with my family a couple of years back. I got so bored, I went to play Halo2 online when we paused it for drinks. Took them five mins to realise I wasn't coming back.

WHOO! I am not the only person who was unimpressed by The Godfather!

BLASPHAMERS!!!!

anyway, I'm never impressed with any comic book movies, except for 2 exceptions. V for Vendetta and Heath Ledger in the Dark Night (cause the rest were boring).

Omg sorry for the double post but i just remembered, Wall-E was such a dissapointment, not the worst movie ever but definitly one of the most dissapointing >_<. Date movie and No Country For Old Men are up there too. Don't really see what was so great about No Country and Date movie was downright awful (Note though, i only walked out of Stranger Than Fiction in all of my movie going career*AND I SEE ALOT*)

I wish I could have left Mamma Mia, but my family was there, too, and my sister was pretty freaked out by Dark Knight. Mamma Mia returned the favor to me.

But I've never walked out of a movie at a theater. My dad has a bunch of times, (Kill Bill and Grindhouse) but I never have. Usually I try to stay with a movie, no matter how long, boring, or unfunny. At least, in a theater. I don't have any qualms against sitting down to watch a movie in my own home, decide that it sucks, and leave the room.

Oh, I guess this doesn't count, but those big panorama IMAX theaters they have at museums? I walked out of one of those cuz I was getting sick.

I don't walk out of movies... then again, I tend to only watch good movies.

Same here. One can generally tell beforehand whether a movie will be so colossally bad it will drive you out of the theater. Anyone else use my RottenTomatoes rule?

Basically, if it's above a 70, and you think it looks good, it's probably worth seeing in theatres.

Below a 70 and you think it looks good, rent it. . . maybe.

I'm not saying a follow critics to the ends of the earth, but, it's saved me money in the past. (see: Hancock, Spiderman 3)

and gotten me to see surprisingly-good movies (Hellboy was actually entertaining.)

and yes i just realized those are all superhero movies.
huh.

I've only ever walked out on one movie.
Is it Meet the Spartans?
Is it Borat?
Is it Eragon?
Is it that cheesy piece of shit Dungeons and Dragons movie?
(Hangs head in shame)*cough*Fellowship of the Ring*cough*
It was totally my fault though. I was a kid and I'd had never read the books so I was totally lost. Then when I thought Gandalf was dead I just gave up. Needless to say I love it now of course.

No, see, I'm smart, and I know what movie I'm watching before I go to watch it, and I know what I do and do not like, so I'm usually not horribly dissapointed when it comes to movies.

what I want to know: who actually sits goes to see the "movie" movies in theaters.(i.e. epic movie, date movie, basically movie spoof movies) how could they possibly be getting enough money to make more...oh I forgot they don't have to hire writers or competent directors. so the budget can be NEXT TO FUCKING NOTHING!

Best "Worst Movie" Experience - The Core

My friends and I go to see The Core and smuggle in three bottles of liquor to ease the pain (it wasn't enough.) Our plan is to make fun of the movie a la Mystery Science Theater 3000. The Wednesday after it opens we go to see it and there are only three other people in the theater. We let them know we don't plan on being quiet and if they like we'll give them their money back for their tickets (3 matinee tickets split 7 ways isn't that painful.) Not only do they not accept our offer, they found me in the lobby after the movie and thanked me and my friends profusely for making the movie bearable.

Brokeback Mountain. I love Heath Ledger. I'd always wanted to be in a movie with him one day, you know, as his sexy costar who he has an affair with. Then he went and died. I also am fond of Jake Gyllenhall. Hated them together in this movie. I've gone on total rampages about this movie before and how much it sucked, but I'll summarize here.

Now, when I say "I hated Brokeback Mountain," (and yes, I actually do mean "hate," a word I don't throw around) people say "You just don't like it because they're gay," No. They fail at life. Don't try to project society's reflection on homosexuality onto a movie review. Brokeback Mountain was a terrible movie because it had a terrible, uninteresting plot.
Exposition: Jake and Heath get a job together as cowboys.
Rising Action: The guys have sex. This little bump of a rising action leads up to... oh wait, nothing! There was no climax!
Up on the little mesa the rising action got us to: The guys go home and get married like normal men but still meet up for "fishing trips." Their wives get antsy and their marriages go down the drain.
Resolution: Jake dies. There. Thank the goddess, that put an end to that.
[/rant]

Don't worry, I'm gay and I hated Brokeback Mountain. However, I'm English and hence too polite to walk out of a theatre other than to go for a wee - I paid money to rent that seat in a dark room so I may as well get my moneys worth no matter what.

I'm bisexual myself, but it wasn't necessary to supply that information just to prove my point. I'm far from offended by homosexuality on the "big screen," even if it was involving a man I'd wanted to make love with since "A Knight's Tale," lol

I had rented "Brokeback Mountain", and "Eragon" as well (I was tempted by dragons- and was promptly let down). I have yet to walk out of a theatre because I won't pay that much money for a wasted evening. I make sure the movie is going to be good before I pay to see it. Otherwise, I rent later or mooch off of a friend who works at the theatre to get in for free.

Someone mentioned a D&D movie... with Jeremy Irons? I believe you're thinking of "Eragon." I've seen most of the D&D movies (even the bad SciFi Channel ones) and none of them have been high-enough budget to afford Jeremy Irons. I suppose I could be missing one somewhere, but I'm rather sure you just saw a dragon and assumed D&D.

Oh, and to whomever said that the directors of the "Epic Movie," etc needed to die: as an American, I disowned the Wayans Brothers long ago. Weren't they also responsible for "White Chicks"? I'd check myself, but I'm on my friend's iMac at the moment (the original iMac- with the colored backing on its monstrous monitor (yes, they still exist, apparently)) and I'm afraid I'll crash the thing if I open a new window.

First film which I ever walked out on was Volcaneo - Doctor: "Take him over there and keep him warm!" (Don't want to state the obvious, however your next to lava.)

Second was Racing Stripes - "My god! That Zebra is going to win a race against professionally trained race horses! What a twist!"

I haven't walked out on any others to date. But I a friend is still on at me to see Step Up 2 for a second time. It was bad enough once.

You didn't know it was a musical, am I right?
A couple sitting behind me went "When are they going to stop singing?"
I was sniggering for a good minute because of that one.

I knew it was a musical, I just thought it would be more morbid, that little S**t would get in a pie, that stupid romantic boy would grow a goddamned brain, and Mr. Todd would actually get his revenge rather then fluffing about like other great killers in History,(Hamlet, Altair, MacDuff).
I had prior knowledge of the stories about Sweeney Todd, mostly from the classic Penny Dreadfuls, but Tim Burton can stop being such pretentious prick about his "Dark and Quirky" films.

I did a unit of film studies ages ago, so I can hammer on films like a critic and like someone with a life and a job.

He WILL win an Oscar. They haven't held them yet, but there's been talk of him getting one regardless.

The superhero movies have at least been very good. "Iron Man" was the best I had seen until "The Dark Knight," and the new Incredible Hulk film was fantastic as well.

EDIT:
And as much as I did enjoy Sweeney Todd (Bonham-Carter couldn't hold a candle to Angela Lansbury, though), I do wish Johnny Depp would start acting and Tim Burton would quit fulfilling expectations. Both need to change some things in their careers or they'll fall into a rut. I love the stuff they've done, but it's only a matter of time before they miss out on golden opportunities because it "isn't their genre". Depp hasn't had a character since "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," they've all been just him- no vocal or physical changes whatsoever. We even enjoy seeing the little "Depp-isms" he does; i.e, the Captain Jack "oh, you've slightly surprised me" look. Burton does so much with dark and gloomy that we literally can't see him doing anything else now, and it's terrible for a director not to think outside of the box he's created for himself.

I rarely walk out the cinema... I like watching films no matter how bad, that said there are a few I walked out or demanded a refund afterwards....

Hitman: An insult to me, I have always loved the Hitman games but the film was too....*I'll remember the word soon* Walked out 50 minutes later (I wanted to give it a chance)

AvP 2: Went to this thinking it couldn't be any worse than the Paul WS Anderson version WRONG! Walked out 30 minutes later

Fred Claus: Went with a massive group of friends, I wanted to go see American Ganster but no we had to sit and watch that tripe, walked out after 25ish minutes...

Spiderman 3 and Fantastic 4 2: Just couldn't stand it any longer so I pissed off

that leech has been at the top of IMDB's top movie list for way to long.

Critic: What're they saying, they mumble the entire movie!

Critic 2: It's probably really dramatic though!

Critic three: What if everyone else gets it and we dont?

Critic: we'll play it safe. 5 out of 5.

I almost walked out of Dark Knight...

Seriously...

If you believe that I have some land in Florida I'll sell you.

That movie fraking rocked, in my top 10 favorites of all time. Up there with Shawshank Redemption, Boondock Saints, The Matrix, Tombstone, and Sin City.

As to the whole chick-flick thing. The wife and I have a little arangement. I don't go to then, she can go with a girlfriend. Likewise, I love horror, and she doesn't go with me.

A movie I almost walked out on, but didn't cause I paid for it... Spiderman 3. By far one of the worst movies ever made. I think retarded monkeys could have come up with a better script.

I think now he's gotten a lot like a particular Australian writer called Tim Winton.
After being hailed by critics and the unwashed as a genius for several works, they suddenly assume that anything else that arrogantly drops out of their poo-stained pretentious asshole that doubles as a mouth, will be solid platinum.

I guess another bad film in existence is Doom. If you removed the title and the reference to the BFG 9000 nobody would've made it past the first 30 minutes.
Actually come to think of it any film where Dwayne Johnson, or Vin Diesel or any other example of cinema manliness pretend to be other than manly barbarians butchering legion after legion of Mook spam, sucks more than the ET game.
I still hold that the exception is Doom...

Any of those modern "parody movies" that come out now make me think about punching anyone who laughs at them in the face. They're just low quality.

I was also stuck in a predicament to see Happy Feet. 1.5 hours of face palming.

I thought Happy Feet was 1.5 hours of reciting the dialogue from Snatch and Lock Stock in your head.
Then thinking of ways to apply those quotes to the parasites of hospitality; Customers.

The first film I ever walked out of was Pocohontis when I was like, nine. It was dragging far, far too much, see. Since then:

I've fallen asleep when streaming Blade Runner.
Gave up on Space Odyssey about ten minutes in.
Walked out of the newest Wallace and Gromit movie (because re-using jokes is never good, especially a decade after you first used 'em).
Fell asleep towards the end of Pirates of the Caribbean in the cinema. I woke up and found it was still going on, an hour later.

Going Overboard (WTF was that movie about?)
Epic Movie (well technically it wasn't a movie but more of random scenes from other movies taped together and called satire)
Alone in the dark

I don't trust Roten tomatoes anymore. I use the IMDB score as a judge nowadays. If it has 6.5 or higher, I might consider spending $10 to see it. If it is 8.5 or higher, I will almost definately spend the $ to see it.
