Welcome! Welcome to Escapistmagazine.com! You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining Internet Utopias. I thought so much of Escapistmagazine.com, that I elected to establish my administration, here, in the Forums, so thoughtfully provided by our benefactors. I am proud to call Escapistmagazine.com my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through to parts unknown, welcome, to Escapistmagazine.com. It's safer here.

Let's play "Who can get the reference!!!"

Put your answer into a spoiler text thingy, if you don't know how to do so... You'll discover how by quoting me.

ANSWER:

Everyone knows that. Just a friendly FYI, about 40% of the Escapists here adore that game, and know everything there is to know about it.

Plus, it's pretty clever
*note, it was not my idea, both Anarchemitis and Poodinkis did it first.

Hey.
My real name is Lon and I'm a student of Leicestershire, England.
I'm kinda new hear, found this thread after I'd been here for a week and have been watching Yahtzee since his second vid. I now of course enjoy all the other features of The Escapist =].
Hoping to engross myself in some deep conversation about the universe and stuff. Good times.
I also just cut my thumb on some scissors. Bad times.

I joined in November if my profile is to be trusted. I've been 21 since last July, live in Chicago, born and raised in Chicago(land), and I graduated from the University of Chicago last year in 2008 with a degree in Biochemistry along with some pre-med shenanigans. Since it's 2009 and I can call 2008 last year, I figure one of my resolutions would be to use this account I signed up for, as in, post on the forums.

I joined the forums because one of my friends would send me a ZP video every time a new one premiered, and eventually I noticed there was some neat stuff going on to the side(as in, forum threads).

I'm in med school right now, figuring I'll be a surgeon if my hands retain their gaming-regimen-refined finesse and dexterity.

Besides gaming, I have an appreciation for literature, music of all kinds(even country) and cinema, along with using words I don't quite understand. I also like to pretend I'm an amateur boxer and have punching bags and speed bags set up in my apartment for visitors to see. I also enjoy taking long runs, although Chicago in the dead of winter is not particularly forgiving to joggers, but I bite the bullet.

Before I registered for the forums, I spent a long year in the internet abyss, suffering from popular syndromes and displaying popular behaviors like "unfounded cynicism", "it's popular with the public, so now it sucks", "this place used to be cool before everybody found it" and of course, "Valve broke TF2 again, because I'm a career ____ that thinks ____ needs to be _____".

Fortunately I think I've conquered all of those except for an unbridled ego, so don't be surprised if I suffer a relapse, and I'm described as wordy. Thought I would pull loquacious on you, didn't you?

And if you read all that, I owe you a drink, it was a long story that didn't go anywhere.

Hey hey, I just joined in the New Year. Have been visiting the site regularly, reading articles, etc. Eventually decided I wanted to be a part of the community, as the site seems far more intelligent and thoughtful that most particularly on the subject of gaming and the games industry.

I'm from Australia, almost graduated from my Arts Management degree and I'm starting to inspect the survey the gaming industry for job prospects. This is one of my first port of calls, with daily news clippings and insider-articles... and occasionally the nonsensical off-topic thread.

Hey. I joined in October, got sidetracked and am finally getting to posting. I'm 27, a programming student, and (holy Toledo!) female.

I enjoy long walks on the beach, NOT receiving lascivious PMs, cool jazz, nearly all varieties of hard liquor, and database integration.

I know, totally hot right?

Hi, I'm Dan, another programming student stuck doing boring programming here in Staffordshire, UK. I joined recently when I saw forum users could get badges and I just had to have some of my own. I was also lured by the above average frequency of intelligent discourse; I've been an irregular Escapist visitor, via both ZP and the occasional slashdot story, so getting knee deep into the forums seemed like a logical next step.

I'm an absolute media whore and consume vast quantities of books, movies, TV series, videos, music and games. I even hijack one of the spare lecture theatres on a Friday afternoon and seriously rock out to Rock Band with some friends. On rare occasions I whip up random art for my private collection.

Hi everyone!

I've watched ZP for a bit, but what got me to make an account was reading through a forum post on travelling back in time. Also, I'm liking alot of the boards here. Looks fun!

I'm 19, female college student in America working towards a degree in Psychology, and maybe a double major in Choral Music (which is oh-so-very useful :3)

Aaand my name is Jenny :) See you at the forums

Hey there. My name is David. But you can call me Vid, most of my closest mates do :3

I'm a 22 yo Australian living in my room. I'm quite open and talkative and incredibly loud!
I have had this profile for some time, but only started posting on it recently due to holiday induced boredom. I have never been so glad i became bored in my life.

I love RPing, and writing.

My favorite game is Left 4 Dead, as i have a bit of an obsession with zombies. My steam name is CAPSLOCK FURY. If you ever see me in game tell me, and i promise not to be an asshole too you :P

look forward to meeting, talking with, rping with, and arguing with all of you on the forums.

Wouldn't call me new, but hell, I'll give this a short.

I'm Adelaide. Known as Radelaide or Rade. 18 years young and damned sexy.

I came here looking at Yahtzee and I stayed for the forums. I think this place is one of the better forums I've been on. I've made a lot of friends here and I can certainly call this place home.

Awwwh <3. How cute.

I'm not precisely super-new either. But you shall all know me soon enough. So, I'm a caucasian male from Califronia. No, I don't surf. Really. I don't.

I'm not exactly new but I'm hardly well-known either, so I'll bite.

The name's John, I'm 25 and I hail from a dodgy little corner of Britain known as London. Perhaps you've heard of it.

I believe I first arrived here to vote in the Developer Showdown, then stayed for the forums and various video sections that I enjoy. I'm on here every day but don't post a lot because I often find people have said exactly what I wanted to say, but in a far more eloquent way than I'd be capable of.

Always looking to make new acquaintances, particularly when people on here seem pleasant and intelligent... a rare combination on the internet these days, I find.

I'm not too new either

Name is James, 21 and from the little corner of Queensland (Australia) called Brisbane.

Joined... some time ago, mainly for ZP though. Looked in the forums and I found it to be one of the only places where views are expressed like a normal conversation unlike other sites on the net. So now I add my own 2 cents where I can.

I'm new-ish. I joined maybe a couple months ago. I would've joined sooner, but I didn't even know there was a forum, and since I didn't feel gravitated to commenting on zero punctuation, I didn't join. I occasionally pop in a quick comment and scatter away on gaming discussion, and the same for off topic.

Any who, My names Matt, 17, live in California, so obviously I surf and I'm a hippie. God I hate that stereotype. But besides that, I hope to actually post some time soon, and see you all later.

hello escapist. I'm a panda. a BIG-freaking-panda at that. despite my username I'd like to believe I'm a peppy and enthusiastic gamer. I don't really have a favorite genre but I detest sports games like Christians fighting Scientology. for those of you who haven't ignored this post, I'm here because of yahtzee's strange taste in games and great wit. I'm from the USA but I've seen the movie sicko recently so I'm sure I'll be finding Canadian citizenship soon

okay, first post done. feel free to take me out, I'll cheat on yah.

Hi. I'm SladeJT.

For personal information, it's already in my profile, but anyway I am an art major that hopes to get a job in the video game industry. Recently, I've been tinkering with a C++ based programing language.

I love to read. Sorry for the sudden change of topic, but I do that sometimes. I am currently reading Seeing Redd and, for some reason, "Harry, A History", a book my dad gave me for Christmas.

I also have a huge pile of video games I'm working on. Among these are Chrono Trigger (DS), Sonic Rivals, Patapon, Ape Quest, and Fable 2. I have had little time to work on portable games and less on console thanks to my classes, specifically my last English class. I have come to loathe research papers thanks to the unorthodox method of teaching the professor used.

I hope to have a good time here, but due to my attempts to juggle multiple forums, video games, my major, and personal doodles, don't be surprised if I vanish for days at a time. I just felt like getting that out of the way right now, since that fact is getting quite annoying to me.

You came on a bad day, a sudden influx of one lined threads and pointlessness unrelatedly flooded in before you.
Usually this is a nicer place, I hope you stick around to enjoy it :)

Thanks. I made a little mistake in another thread in regards to post length, apparently. But that's not going to defer me.

Yo, I'm Daniel. Just like everyone else, it was ZP that initially drew me here, but once I saw the general intelligence level of the boards, I HAD to join. No more slumming it at GameFAQs for me!

Yeah, but for some reason the thread got locked as well.

No room for discussion. Just: Do you like Cocoa Eggs?

In fact, even that was only really implied through the title and not in the OP.
Sorry if I'm coming off as snobbish or mean, it's like midnight where I am, and I can't sleep.

1:30 here, but in any case the I was slightly out of it when I posted it. I did explain what it was in the post, but something didn't seem to click...

I was born about an hour ago, give or take. I like wearing my dressing gown when I'm fully clothed and have the cold merciless eyes of a crab. I also like games, peculiarly.

Oh, I'm new! One of the "latest topics" thingies caught my eye while I was rofling to Yahtzee (gosh, I'm English, but his voice still makes me...<3) so I signed up. I'm already in love with this forum, it's like all the clever-clogs people from the other forums in the world migrated to one place, and somewhere there's a magical barrier keeping all the "hi lol how r u lol i like stickers and ponies and myspace.com!!!!!!1111" people out.
