The sniper missed!? Our house is pretty old, so we get a lot of draughts making creepy noises and opening and closing things. Scares the crap out of me if I've just watched a horror film. |
Muckraker Posts: 237 Joined: 4 Feb 2008 | Sometimes at night, when I'm in a lit room I get this overwhelming feeling I'm being watched from outside. Like I'm expecting to just see someone's face pressed against the window/door. It genuinely makes me feel uncomfortable, and as a result I have to leave the room, or draw the curtains. Every now and again, I'll hear voices/scratching downstairs, regardless of the time of day. Whilst no one else is in the house. Or a door will randomly slam shut. Without any doors/windows being open. I remember a couple years ago, one actually slammed as I was walking towards it. I absolutely shit myself. I can't explain how it happened, as there was no draft to physically make the door slam closed. It just...happened. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 53 Joined: 5 Aug 2008 | I've had a couple of closed doors open unexplained on me. It came back for the first time since I was like 10.I had a dream about a month ago where my friend passed me a bong and said "Dude take a hit" right outside my friend J's house in the treeline above the road. Yesterday this happened. I was going over to his house and when I got there I knocked and rang the doorbell.(He had been bitching at me for showing up too early for our PnP RPG games. Anyways his dogs started barking like fuck but nobody was home.Typical of his house both doors were unlocked and his mom was gone and this time he was too. So I came in came out. Then I just sat there and started reading when I heard someone stumble and look quickly around in the house. I came in and noone was there. I thought my friends were just hiding and fucking with me again. Well J really was gone and the noise turned out to be my friend B who I still thought was messing around with me and leading me into some kind of prank because he was tweaked and out of it. He got a call from my other friend R. So he said his cell wasn't getting service went out back and so I just turned J's TV on and watched Scrubs. He came back in (we weren't even allowed to be in his house at this time but noone was home so fuck it) cleared our shit out and I followed him to the treeline. And sure enough there they were with a bong and we started toking. |

Oooh yeah I have those. Thing is you can't tell the one's that'll come true from the others. It's really weird. Sometimes you'll have one a month or so ahead, then you get a HUGE sense of de ja vu. |

I get that a lot to except my computer is in my room and the curtains are broke. It does make me feel truly uncomfortable, except I get the feeling they are in a corner of the room not outside. |

Did you have the hot water running? It prbably had something to do with the temperature of the glass. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 6433 Joined: 30 Jan 2008 |
The nozzle was pointed at the tiled wall opposite the door in question, and it had been on for 30 seconds, so was room temperature. Edit: Before you ask, I do that to prevent splashback getting outside the shower while the door is open. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1829 Joined: 13 Feb 2008 | For the door things, it's all air pressure. Happens to me sometimes too. The air on one side of the door is either more pressured or hotter or whatever, so it tries to get out. No matter how far away the source, the air is gonna get away from it. |

I dont know if thats unexplained phenomena, but it's weird when youre humming Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses (or any song, really), and when you turn on the radio, the song starts where you left off. Especially when it happens almost daily. |

Paperboy Posts: 28 Joined: 14 May 2008 | There were times when I would be in bed at night and I would here this huge crashing noise from my closet. I'd go to open it and nothing would be disturbed. Also, and this happens to everyone at my house, i hear my name being called by someone, and when I go to find out who called for me and no one had. But my most recent unexplained experience was when I was at home alone due to being laid up with a broken leg. It had started to hurt and I let out a groan. Then someone said "What's wrong?" even though I was the only one in the house and there was nothing on making any noise. What's worse, I answered them. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1477 Joined: 2 Jan 2008 | There's a logical/mathematical explanation for everything. At least, that's what I tell myself. Because I don't fuck with ghosts. No sir. But in a related glass-exploding story, I was once playing Super Monkey Ball on the GameCube with my cousin. We were both in the heat of battle mode, and suddenly the pane of glass that sat above the TV (part of a shelf that was sort of a divider between the TV and the VCR/etc) shattered. Neither of us had touched it, and there wasn't even anything sitting on top of it. Glass is a tricky substance, though. A tiny crack can set off a chain reaction that destroys an entire window or door or whathaveyou. Also, I hear it's made out of liquid. |

Have you considered that there may be something wrong with your ears? |
Beat Writer Posts: 142 Joined: 5 Jul 2008 | I heard de ja vu is a result of you living a scenario your brain already subconsciously thought up and dreamed out for you. So when you get deja vu, you're kind of acting in reflex to said dream, and are therefore in less danger/make the right decisions in the deja vued situation, if any. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 10 Joined: 10 Aug 2008 | Okay, here we go: -I'm terrified of bugs. If I see one flying at me, or I hear a buzzing sound coming near me, I flip out (there was one truly lulz-worthy phone call that I had with my girlfriend where a bicycle flew right by me, and the sound of the wheels made me think that it was a giant bee). As a child this fear affected how much I went outside, as I would always feel bugs crawling on my skin. Now I've been through a few psychology courses, though, and realize that I was imagining most of that, but when I was a kid I had no idea why I seemed to be feeling so many more bugs than anybody else. -When I was in Cub Scouts, we were picking up litter in the woods behind my elementary school. I saw a small piece of plastic on the ground, and reached down to pick it up. Turns out it wasn't a small piece of plastic, but the top of a larger plastic bag that was buried in the ground. I looked inside, and there was a large semi-automatic handgun. I was maybe ten years old. My den leader called the cops, and I never heard anything about it afterwards. -I sing in choir at my college. Last year, one of our basses died on a Saturday in his dorm. The cause of death was never found; his heart just stopped beating. The impact that this had on our choir cannot be overstated; he was one of the most lovable people I had ever met (handsome, blond, and incredibly tall guy with a terrific smile and a booming laugh). Before he died, we had been singing a song called 'Song for Athene' which was written upon the death of one of the composer's friends, and later sung at Princess Diana's funeral. We had spoken beforehand how the basses presence is felt throughout the song, like the presence of God, as they sing an 8 minute long low F (coordinating their breathing so that no two adjacent people breath at the same time). After he died, that song brought us all together. |

I'm walking down a path where some annoying bastards have decided to start swinging gold balls across the river and not a one hits me. I hear a noise, jump back and some object I can't really identify lands where I was. I think my subconscious mind is like "yeah, I've got a pretty good feeling where you're about to trip, so stumble over that hole in the floor and don't trip" and it works. |

Stuff like this happens sometimes... Like a few people managed to somehow break an empty glass by just looking at it - I m not even kidding, i saw it with my own eyes. Just blows up randomly. But really, if you take the scientific approach, it probably has something to do with resonance or something. Edit: Also, when i was like 14 or something, years ago, I once raced down some corridor to washroom in my school (I think) and all the light bulbs blew up as I ran under them... weird, I never found any glass on me either. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 793 Joined: 1 Jun 2008 | Alright, first off allow me to say that nowadays I'll believe in anything that can make a decent argument for itself. I'm an exceptional astrologer and numerologer. I got that way because I had someone do my astrological chart and I wanted to find out how the magic trick worked. Now, I do the trick better than anyone in a 100 mile radius besides the person who taught me, and I still can't justify how it works rationally. So, lets talk about ghosts, alternate dimensions and premonitions. I'm ready to offer you the bat-shit crazy explination for whats happening around you. Take it with a grain of salt but I figured this thread was just asking for someone to offer the supernatural explination.
Something caused the glass to explode. It probably wasn't a malicious force as if it was it wouldn't have avoided you. What caused the glass to explode isn't as important as the fact that it did explode. The theory of syncronicty dictates that anything happening in the present can be used to predict the future. This includes incredably mundane things but also encompasses extraordinary occurences (the latter ussually being interpreted as an attempt to slam their meaning down the recipents throat.) Explosions tend not to be good. Things exploding while you're at your most vulnerable (naked) tend also not to be good. Most likely, your approaching some kind of volatile situation. It's hard to say what but the fact that this explosion happened around water suggests it's something to do with emotions or interpersonal relationships. If you've got a girl freind by her some chocolate. If you don't, avoid getting one for a little while. The fact that you weren't harmed in the explosion (and that it was an explosion and not something more subtle) suggests that it would be easy enough for you to avoid whatever problem is coming your way through the simple expedient of recognizing that there is some kind of problem coming your way. Also the fact that it happened while you were doing something routine and mundane (showering) would suggest that the problem will either originate from some part of your routine (a person you communicate to on a regular basis who isn't a freind for example) or serve to disrupt it. If I knew you better or knew the situation better I'd be able to offer a better guess (and thats all this is really a guess. Take it with a grain of salt.) but for know thats as good as I can offer. Oh! I can answer one more thing though.

I searched for this, but found nothing. Anyway...
Post anything that has happened to you that you are at a loss for words to explain
Just this morning, as I was about to hop into the shower, I was standing just outside the cubicle, and the glass door shattered. I wasn't touching it in any way, it just exploded.
Wait, it gets weirder. The door actually exploded, so that glass managed to cover everything, including large piles covering the counter a meter away. Yet I didn't have a single piece touch me, in any way. However, I was naked, in a room with a floor covered in broken glass, so I wasn't exactly thinking I was that lucky.
Its weird. I cannot think of any force that was affecting the door, and it just exploded.
